  • Omg. I absolutely love this guy. The old people are the absolute best. Dry cynical humor that cuts through any stupid argument that might be thrown in LOL

  • No mincing words in calling what is dirty.

  • Great... thanks for sharing...

  • excellent , unbeliveable and pure magic- what he explains in the present day context . harvesting moisture !!!!!!!!!!!, vow , if we could simply find methods to just reinvent some technic like this , drought and water wars can be totally eradicated .learning to respect is what is missing these days . let us learn to respect the gift of nature . gratitude .

  • hats off sir !!!, This was for Rajashtan . Now we need some practical and cheap techniques for indian cities and other states of India.

  • Attention: Please switch off the proper english check programmer installed in your brain! lol... that was epic! I guess it is installed in our brain!

  • great man

  • I believe that our period of high technology will eventually collapse under its own weight and we will slip back to these ancient methods. It's more important today that we hang onto these practical low-tech methods, than develop additional highly-complex new technologies.

Simple technologies will outlive complex technologies in the long run.

I like the idea of my own life-giving water coming from the simplest solution available in my own backyard.

  • And yet you're using a computer. While it is certainly important we find, keep, or develop as many simple solutions as possible that doesn't mean there is no place for high technology. Technology is how we spread ideas. Writing is technology. Only way high tech is going away is if humans also go away.

  • its just suprising while Ted members talk such brillliant things , the people who post comment on this are so naive and stupid... perhaps tats ta reason they are changing things and we all just kip posting crap.. God bless the people who have the power to change lives of ppl in a positive way..

  • visit ted's site their members are much more polite and they are strictly monitored by the own community. you will enjoy it much more than youtube.

  • Shreyesh I don't intend to go back to india because I'm now suited to the cool weather here and can't stand the heat for long over there. Dust pollution is another matter. Standard of living in every way is better in NZ. Its my life and I'll do what is best for me. I prefer to stay in NZ.

  • There was a TED in India last month.

  • Indians and chinese will soon be much powerful than the US, so get used to it.

  • powerful in what way? the only reason india and china is growing economically is because they have western consumers like the US. they are no where near being a superpower. only thing they have in their favor is huge population, most of which are poor, unlike the US where life is better for the majority. US doesn't have huge regions in 3rd world conditions like china or india. they're actually suffering more from the recession than america, so basically i'm laughing at you.

  • @ruckenfigur den wat explains d fact american companies r rushing in india with their consumer products to sell to 1.2 billion masses which they say is d biggest consumer (even bigger dan chinese)??????????? During recession we all knw wat USA's economy was and d drop in demand in USA were as indian economy grew by 7.2% which shows indian growth was not entirely dependent on USA.

  • rucken, its obvious that you're a racist. infact you're feeling so guilty that you're blaming others that they are racists BEFORE they say you are one. Oh well.

Americans are so dumb n lazy that the only thing they know is getting fat n sitting on their asses. they need indian engineers to immigrate to the US so they've got some brains in the country. You remain the ignorant red neck you are, but the reality is much different.

  • Whatever you want to believe. Stay in your country and your imaginary world view. My life is awesome in America so your dumb opinion has no real effect on either me or the truth. Sucks that you're life is that pathetic enough for you to hate Americans so much, but I guess you have reason to be jealous. Maybe one day you'll get lucky enough to move here and live a decent life.

  • Dude I live in New Zealand. I live a comfortable life. 3 cars and 120,000 income per year i think is good enough for me. I was orginally from india. We've got no terrorism here and dont hav to be afraid of getting blown to bits, lol. U know y? coz we love peace here whereas u rednecks love violence, so u get all these terrorist stuff happen to ya'll.

  • You obviously don't know anything about America if you think we have "all these terrorist stuff happen". Stay ignorant, it's okay. Just sad you're so insecure about coming from India.

  • Yeah whatever man, first you tell me to get a decent life. You got shitfaced when u knew i was rich. Now you say im insecure, I guess you've got to look at yourself if you've got issues.

  • ok, let the world cut of trade to your country.. lets see how long your socialist deprived country would be happy that way in isolation, where no one visits or does trade!!

No one hates you either.. you obviously will control your immigrant inflow, like most countries do..in the mean while dont try to be such a prick.

  • Love that guy.

  • This guy is funny, I like him :)

  • Kickass.

  • stupid question in the end...

  • This guy is made of pure win.

  • Another great vid, thank you!

  • im 16 years old and god damn that inspired me thats really amazing!!! my mind is like overflouted with ideas mazing!!!

  • I find this fascinating. Being a fan of Frank Herbert's Dune series which centered around a culture that harvested moisture, seeing these real world solutions for living in the desert and thriving make the fiction seem pale in comparison.

  • WOW...

  • TED usually provides subtitles, but I suspect that this video is so new that they haven't had the time yet. :)

  • amazing stuff !!!! ..... excellent speech

  • where were these people.. now we are seeing through TED ??Stupid Indian media never spoke about them ..

  • very nice speech

  • great stuff... would be great if in locations where clean water is a problem these kind of concepts are thought...

  • very clever!

  • damm it
