In my view, the Sitar is a very very busy instrument......and it is not an easy one to learn how to play, I owned one and even tuining it without help to do it properly....was difficult. Something to do with Harmonic Strings interacting with the more Dominant Strings.....Play one sometime and you'll see what I mean. I loved watching the documentary on Ravi Shankar and seeing Nora and Anoushka cuddled up together on the couch while he talked. It was so sweet, and he even talked about how sorry he was that he had hurt Nora. Never to late to change!You can get it on netflix

Norah did not pave the way for Anoushka. Anoushka gained notoriety before Norah had her first album out playing with her father. She also gained alot of international attention when she played at the Concert for George in Nov 2002...right when Norah's album came out. They both gained their own fame in their own right independently of each other.
