Had a BEER? This is written for someone lonely who gets drunk and hangs out in bars! You do a nice job but you have a lot to go through before you should tackle Tom Waits. This is not a criticism you sing and play very well but Tom waits needs more than that. You have to get hurt and live a lot before you can even begin to really play Tom. I think that about the Eagles version of "ole55"too so keep on playing and you will understand what I mean.

@andy65guitar it's a girl with a sweet voice singing waits. i think tom, whose best and most creative work came after he pulled himself off the bar stool, would never agree that aspiring artists need to drink to a self-destructive extent and lead painful lives to understand and play his songs. i think you also fail to separate real tom waits, born into an educated, middle-class background and now a family man, to the hobo persona he cultivated.

The only advice that I have for you is to start experimenting with different ways to sing the verses. Right now they all sound pretty much the same, and because there are so many of them, the song gets a bit boring.. You could listen to Emiliana Torrini's version of the song, for an example..
