Was thinking just this the other day. Like you folks say, scuzz has amounted to a pile of crappy emo/indie bullshit. The other day I saw them playing weezer in "Hardcore" hour... WTF
The thing is though all attempts at this seem to get it hopelessly wrong; they either play stuff too soft and we end up with Silverchair and Saliva, or they go way to extreme and we get nothing but Gorgoroth and Dying Fetus. Don't get me wrong, I love Death Metal, but I'd like a station that plays just the right balance, with Machine Head, Megadeth, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, HammerFall etc and with the odd Cannibal Corpse / Behemoth song! Now THAT would be sick!!
I could NOT agree with you more. Scuzz started out as a mixture of metal and death metal, but every time I go onto it, it's either Greenday, or My Chemical Romance, or some other crappy pop-rock band.
@h34d5h0tz666 I barely remember writing that comment, 3 years ago. I like Saliva, I listen to them occasionally. I just don't think they're 'metal' as such, and not the sort of thing Metal Stations should play a lot of.
He, nice idea! Maybe you are one of the people out there, who are far ahead of their time! Seriously, its about time, to air such a channel! Right in the moment I dont watch any TV, because our channels sucks ass! Btw: I missing the old MTV (shows like Beavis and Butthead, Most Wanted!, Unplugged....this and many more was a part of the time, when I was a teenager! Today: Pop, Hip Hop, Emo-Shit, fucking casual shows with celebrities and no names - Its a fucking disaster!!!!)!
Wow thanks for the comment. Yeah I really do miss the old 90s MTV with Beavis and Butthead especially. The actual episodes of it were great, the music ones... not so good, but it's where I first heard of Gwar (a band I still love today).
I remember when I was on holiday in Ibiza we got reception from German MTV and were watching German Southpark! It was so strange, but cool! Out of curiosity... do you guys have Sky TV Network in Germany?
Well, as far as I heard, since the 1st September of this year the channel "Premiere Sky" is available. It contains fee required channels, which are focusing on comedy (Sat1 Comedy), The History Channel and more. Unfortunately I cant say, if there are any music channels at the moment or in planning.
I only know, that the new Anime-focused channel "Animax" started this year in germany on Premiere(airing shows like Black Cat, Arjuna, X, Dragonball etc.).
I dunno if this would ever happen. TV executives probably don't want to dedicate a channel on one type of music if it isn't mainstream. All they care about is ratings :-(
Gotta agree that MTV was much better in the past. Liked it when it was MTV Europe. Most Wanted was a great show. Ray Cokes is a funny guy.
