Well you can't reall BLAME Clark, but I just think he could have prevented it, and didn't realy manage.
The thing that annoyed me was that even after Lex found out Clark's secret in Season 3 and was completely okay with it, and yet Clark didn't want him to know after Lex's memory was wiped. Same thing happened with Lana in "Reckoning". What is Clark's problem with people just knowing his secret, even if they're fine with it?

I think he did he best. He repeatedly forgave Lex for keeping tabs and spying on him and even doing his experiments. Plus Lex too lied almost everytime to Clark about his experiments and him spying on Lex. Ultimately though I would like to see some kind of alternated reality episode where we see clark telling Lex the truth early like how Lex and Clark were teamed up in the cartoon.
I suppose... but both of them still have really bad trust issues. I mean, I can kinda sympathise with Clark for not wanting to know people his secret, but considering how like Lana/Chloe/Lex (esp. Lana) were really starting to hate him for keeping his secret, it's just stupid. Why would you be afraid of people not accepting you when they're starting to hate you anyway?
@nexosen I agree with you. But I still believe that clark telling Lex his sceret to be a bad move. I cannot imagine what Lex would do if clark told him his sceret. Remember in season 4 when Lex split between to sides. His true evil side discovered clakrs sceret and wanted to help him take over the world. Telling chloe , lana or lois is no problem but telling lex is different. He would use that to his advantage, considering the projects lex was involved.
@RIDDLER491 Honestly, if Clark had told Lex in say the first season, I think things would have turned out so differently. Lex genuinely tried to be good back then, and if he had had a true purpose such as knowing the truth about Clark he might now have followed the dark path he took. I think he would have protected and helped Clark even more. Back in seasons 1-3 Clark and Lex were almost like brothers.
Its kinda the classic Hero creates the villain scenerio...its happened in alot of stories where the hero is indirectly responsible for his greatest enemy. I like it as it adds a more personal touch to their hatred.

In a weird sense I actually did love the character of Lex and it's sad to not have him. Saying goodbye to Lex and Lana is like saying goodbye to the way Smallville used to be. And while I do still think Smallville is awesome, I kinda miss the old days.
I've missed this episode because it didn't come at the normal time here in Germany so I missed it :(
So I had to watch the final scene at least and I am really excited now.
It's a shame that Lex won't be there in Season 8. In my opionion, Lex made the show worth watching. In a strange way, he was my favourite character because he was the most interesting character of the show.

Yes, I think he totally did. Even when Lex was at the height of his evil, there was still lingering feelings of envy and twisted love for Clark. There was that sense of sibling rivalry, a rivalry with a strange sense of love behind it. In order to hate as much as he does, there must still be love buried deep down.
I agree. I always imagined that if Clark and Lex ever did have their final showdown, there would be this kind of moment of redemption for Lex where he tells Clark that he's always loved him like a brother and is sorry for the things that he did.
lex is not dead he is alive in one episode in season eight it was weird cause in the end of the episode u saw lex hooked up to wires watching like 3 security cameras seeing evrything wat clark was doing.

Lex in Superman II try to lure him out by sending them to the daily planet because of Lois. Lex knows superman comes when something bad happens to Lois that's why they went there.

Also, another part is too funny. There are in the Arctic, at a fortress of ice, etc, and when either one is breathing there is no 'fumes', not is Lex's bald head radiating like we see during a football game in winter. LOL
"Descent". Lionel was in his office and Lex came in and confronted him about his hidden group. After a typical father-son argument, Lex pushed him out the window and he plummeted to his death.
which is a horrible movie by the way. however i think this show did a great job of showing the way lex slowly becomes more obsessive throughout the seasons.
let me start with two small things. everybody who is saying they hated the way this ended, the producers didn't have a choice. the writers strike cut the season short and they had 2 or 3 episodes planned after this, so that is why it doesn't have to be continued at the end as well. they didn't even know if season 8 was going to happen. and i read the comics and am completely fine with this show not going by the myth. it is not hurt the myth anymore than superman returns.
I wasn't completely upset with this finale, I find it almost heartbreaking. I really really (did I mention really?) loved Lex's character. Even through all the crap and evil stuff and...Lana. Sorry but as the seasons went on they destoryed Lana's character. This really could've been avoided if Clark had trusted people in general. Its a major flaw in his character. I love Lex in this final scene though. He honestly cared about Clark even in the end.
Clark saved his life in the first season but never admitted it. Ironic - Clark went around saving the lives of all of the characters, but one by one they turned their back on him. Sounds too much like reality if you ask me!
this was a brilliant plan i believe jor-el designed, yup the ultimate enemy in his son's life was destiny so we devised a plan in order to capture the evil duer, in its easy to see that this was not a way to control clark but to get rid of lex eventually
Know what's hilarious? If only Clark had told Lex from the beginning all this could have been avoided. Lex would have done anything to protect Clark, and Clark was too blind to see.

I don't know...i've watched smallville since season one, and after a while you just got used to the style, but it's not like superman. I feel like all the people caught in the meteor shower got old quick, and all the things that have happened don't stick to the story of superman. season 8 is going to have some wild stories if they're going to end it where Superman picks up...the whole story with lex, and brainiac, and now doomsday all in smallville...what are they doing?
I've been watching this show since the first season and I'm not crazy about what it has become, it's just too much to take in. I hope season 8 is the last one and I hope it's going to be damn good, although how can it be good without Lex? I'm gonna miss Michael :(

the final moments of lex and clark should have been perpared better. it's supossed to be epic.
Lex didn't have to say all the information about Clark to him that what he's doing. pretending to be a farmer, but he's actually an alien who's going to rule earth and destroy it.

Yes, I think he totally did. Even when Lex was at the height of his evil, there was still lingering feelings of envy and twisted love for Clark. There was that sense of sibling rivalry, a rivalry with a strange sense of love behind it. In order to hate as much as he does, there must still be love buried deep down.

I agree. I always imagined that if Clark and Lex ever did have their final showdown, there would be this kind of moment of redemption for Lex where he tells Clark that he's always loved him like a brother and is sorry for the things that he did.

@ShoulderAB07 The fortress doesn't need much security when it belongs to Superman don't u think... Luthor mansion has plenty of guards, is just that Clark, and all the others have permission to walk in, and other villains have had powers to break in.

it was prettty bad ending.. but its kinda good they destroyed the fortress while they could its supposed to be secret and only known to Superman.. it seems like in the end everyone knew where it was Chloe, Kara, Lex, Lana... and the list continues

Also, another part is too funny. There are in the Arctic, at a fortress of ice, etc, and when either one is breathing there is no 'fumes', not is Lex's bald head radiating like we see during a football game in winter. LOL

let me start with two small things. everybody who is saying they hated the way this ended, the producers didn't have a choice. the writers strike cut the season short and they had 2 or 3 episodes planned after this, so that is why it doesn't have to be continued at the end as well. they didn't even know if season 8 was going to happen. and i read the comics and am completely fine with this show not going by the myth. it is not hurt the myth anymore than superman returns.

I wasn't completely upset with this finale, I find it almost heartbreaking. I really really (did I mention really?) loved Lex's character. Even through all the crap and evil stuff and...Lana. Sorry but as the seasons went on they destoryed Lana's character. This really could've been avoided if Clark had trusted people in general. Its a major flaw in his character. I love Lex in this final scene though. He honestly cared about Clark even in the end.

Clark saved his life in the first season but never admitted it. Ironic - Clark went around saving the lives of all of the characters, but one by one they turned their back on him. Sounds too much like reality if you ask me!

this was a brilliant plan i believe jor-el designed, yup the ultimate enemy in his son's life was destiny so we devised a plan in order to capture the evil duer, in its easy to see that this was not a way to control clark but to get rid of lex eventually

I don't know...i've watched smallville since season one, and after a while you just got used to the style, but it's not like superman. I feel like all the people caught in the meteor shower got old quick, and all the things that have happened don't stick to the story of superman. season 8 is going to have some wild stories if they're going to end it where Superman picks up...the whole story with lex, and brainiac, and now doomsday all in smallville...what are they doing?

There was a time when Lex was suspisious of Clark when they were friends and then later on when they split up...
Lex became jealous of Clark because of the family, and Lana. He always felt like the bad guy and it pissed him off. plus his father was always bothering him. and lionel was becoming good friends with the kents

the final moments of lex and clark should have been perpared better. it's supossed to be epic.
Lex didn't have to say all the information about Clark to him that what he's doing. pretending to be a farmer, but he's actually an alien who's going to rule earth and destroy it.
"you see, you live among us as a mild mannered farm boy, but secretly you're a strange visitor from another planet plotting our dumies" (what was that word?)
