  • FUCKING ROWER

  • In soviet russia, boat start you!

  • you burry your blades too much :/

  • Comment removed

  • can you guys help me with what a good 1500 meter on the water would be, because im new to rowing in a single and i look at times and get mixed results some are 5:29 some are like 6:30

  • @austinburma1 ive been rowing it for a year and a half and my best (with a fairly strong headwind and head current) was a 6:07 im 15 y/o

  • Also Depending on your weight and ability for a scull. I own a Sykes Mould 20 "Ultimate". When rowed properly it's the fastest scull on the water. but i wouldn't recomend it to anyone over 80kg. Generally try to avoid anything made in a chinese production line. always go for a shell thats been built by a person

  • screw the start. the race is usually 2000m long. as long as you stay in the boat and dont dick about too much it really wont make a difference. Just watch any of Mahe Drysdales World Championship races. dropped out of blocks like a sack of spuds. won the race over the full distance. same with Zac Purchase. As long as your confident and can play the long game what ever happens at the start wont matter.

  • maas is a very nice boat

  • I am tall and gumby, and this really affects my ability to perform at my best in small boats. I have the pairs matrix and single trials coming up soon, and was wandering if you had any advice on how to help myself perform at my best.

  • @22458 - i think u would have some coaches around to get their opinions. whatever id try to say would probably be too general. after spending time in fitness, now i think one thing id do would be power yoga.. not only stretching, really yoga. as a double maybe. with one session ud understand the little but different contribution itll make. and second thing would be, shorter but more intense workouts then our coaches always made us do long long long..

  • @22458 ill just tell you i am a single sculler and my best start piece and favorive is a 1-1-3 3/4 1/2 3/4 3/4 3/4 power 15then keep high rate for 20 more strokes settle at a 32-34 then sprint at 300 to go

  • youre hit on the water is realy to short mate !

  • hey, i want to get my own scull. But i don't have a lot of money to spend on one. What do you recommend for a brand? What's your's?

Also, i used to be on a team and rowed in 8, but only one time in a single. Would i be fine practicing on my own? It would be a calm lake...

    thanks so much!

  • @pbcmbeez22 its great to see such determined ppl : ) but i recommend first practicing for a while at a nearby boathouse. the next step would probably be keeping an eye on second hand boats.. im just making it up if are around boston probably tons of boats available there.. craigslist?? boathouses also have some turnover of ppl buying selling. this boathouse ive been to is in austin TX, 2.5 hrs from houston. i go everyother month on average. i highly recommend following up with such a community.

  • @drtorqueP90XCoach I found a used Maas 1x. Is that a good boat? It's about 10 years old, and it comes with dreher hatchet oars

  • @pbcmbeez22 i never rowed a maas. and never heard them in worlds let alone olympics.. but so what?? ur first car wasnt a mercedes i suppose.. if the price is right go for it brother. i dont have a boat, if i lived close to a boathous and had some cash at my expense id buy one. for now, i have a 2010 concept 2 D, rails, rear shox box..$1500-2000 system. ask about the boat to the ppl from that boathouse, if accident, how was it taken care of... ull do a lot of customization anyways..

  • just a tip, at your first stroke, (at the start) you should have your body leaning further forward.

and 3/4, 1/2, 3/4,3/4 Full is best start for a single i have found, also you need to engage your legs a bit more, your boat is surging but more leg power would help, cause you could get that boat to surge more :)

  • @L0ngLiveMetallica thx, will give it a try.. but I row about 6 times a year for the last 6 yrs, since I moved to the states... nothing to get too excited about, just missing the water, and its sound as the boat flowing : )

  • god dam that a thin ass single.

  • You should lengthen your slide after about the 3rd/4th stroke, it appeared as if you were rowing 1/2 slide the whole start.

  • how much better of a rower did u become after u did P90x?

  • ARC FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mmmmmm really fast

  • or fillipi are good but i dont like their looks

  • the best boats are the swift racing

  • @PopkosCZ nonononono youre so wrong mate

  • i mean for me i dont know what boats are best for you...

  • @PopkosCZ brother, try sykes racing or a hudson and you will see the difference(:

  • the really best boats are the empacher

  • @wwemjhardy yeah but i dont like their looks

  • i'm wrong the really best boats are wintech

  • they look good and are very fasters

  • @wwemjhardy the best small boats r fillipi bt empacher make da best 8

  • i can do it faster

  • PEOPLE QUIET! the starts you do are different depending on your strenght, height, weight, etc,

  • Why did she have to say "ready set go" slowly? Just freakin' go!

  • i like a womansvoice, dont you? : )

  • Austin Lake?... you mean Lake Austin?

  • Ladybird Lake, formerly Town Lake. There's no rowing on Lake Austin.

  • didnt know that about Lake austin but ya... I row out of TRC. great club

  • I just joined the club last week. If you see a fat, old guy with a very uneven stroke, that's me.

  • i was there this saturday, steve, same shorts, same sunglass, same boat.. say hi to Summers from the Turk guy : )

  • haha, you'll get it in a little time :)

  • in fact I think that's a TRC boat... I wonder if it's the Alvin or the director... hmmm

  • haha, so nice to see folks here.. i think this is the director, but alvin is a better fit for me. actually when i was heavier i was rowing on the cirector, then i got lighter and switched to alvin.

its either on water, or soemwhereelese everytime i go recently..

last saturday i did 3x20' @22-24 @about 70%.. but i got exhausted by the heat and slowed down, hands worn out, crawling to the end..

  • ya, it's really hot out. I've been takin out the Director for the last month or so. working hard on my single :P. The alvin is a good boat too tho. like it alot.

  • ok one clue... whenever you find the footstretchers far away, like 2-3 ticks from the end, it's me : ))

  • lol big hassel :P! I have to go pretty much in the middle even tho I'd prefer to be 3/4 of the way :P. you ever have problems with hitting the fronts of the sliders at the catch?... need to adjust that...

  • That's an amazing place to row minus all the obstacles in the water. A lot of layback though

  • try a 2 halfs and 2 3quaters nd then full dats the best start

  • we always start with 3/4 2/4 3/4 3/4 and than full stroke

  • try doing a half stroke then a three quarter stroke then another three quarter stroke then into full stroke at as high rating as possible for 10-15 strokes.

  • push with the legs more dude:) after 3 strokes should lengthend it out abit more! nice lil vid though

  • wow that was slow

  • nice, only you have to practice your balance

  • thx. u r right. thats always been a problem. still is in yoga.. not to mention that was my first row in a year, and with that boat, oars rigging was fortunately kind of ok..

  • good! hope you had a good spring break in Austin.

  • Is it Town Lake of Austin?

  • yup.. it is called texas rowing club. very cool environment. most of austin very cool actually.

  • That first "ready set go" was less than inspirational, eh? Cute vid.

  • exactly! I need a better cameraman.. : )
