I will confess that I do have some beliefs that Friday 13th can be unlucky if there's a FULL moon out. When I was driving home on Friday 13th and there was a full moon out, a strap in my engine snapped, leaving me stranded and I had to call in a tow truck. I don't think you can have more bad luck than that.
When Nanny asks why Fozzie thinks he's going to have 7 years bad luck for breaking a mirror, my brother and I think it's funny when Fozzie replies,"Piggy told me." :D
From Gonzo stating that knocking on wood is supposed to swear off bad luck, he was just half-right. It's commonly thought in the Pagan belief system, that dryads lived in trees, and by knocking on a tree's wood while making some sort of bold statement, the speaker could prevent the spirit from hearing them and stop the spirit from intervening or out of respect for the wood spirit, touching a tree indicated seeking solace from the particular spirit.
And the reason why black cats crossing your path is supposed to be bad luck, is because from the supernatural world, black cats are considered to be in sync with witchcraft, and the actual world, they're almost impossible to see at night, especially when you're driving, because you could accidentally run over one.
As for those "superstitions" that were in Fozzie's imagination, I normally don't believe in such things, but there is, however, one "superstition" I do believe in -- namely that it's supposed to be dangerous to walk under ladders. The reason of that is because there's a custom based upon fact, like the ladder itself could fall and conk you on the head, or somebody or something can slip and fall from the ladder. It never pays to court disaster.
I don't believe breaking a mirror would cause you seven years bad luck. So far, I broke two mirrors in my life and hardly had any bad luck within seven years after both times!
Well, the superstitious belief supposedly started back in 13th-c. Venice, when the backs of mirrors were made of silk instead of chromite, and if you ever broke a mirror, you'd have to wait 7 years for the delivery.
The fear of Friday The 13th is known as "Paraskavedekatriaphobia". The superstition was thought by some to have supposedly derived from the Last Supper, that having 13 people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners, and Jesus was crucified on a Friday.
I don't intend to be cruel or anything (really, I don't, so please don't vote my comment as negative) but if I was in the recording studio and saw a woman doing the voice of Rowlf, I would've died laughing. I just can't imagine a woman doing a voice like Rowlf's.
lol I love Gonzo's little dance ;)

I hope they can put this on DVD set. If they could put a lot of the episodes on VHS in the 90's, they can have a proper DVD set.

Fozzie might not be much of a comiedian, but he's certainlt no tattle-tail. Of course Piggy looked like she was about to call him one.

if you look at, it was Animal who started by having the soap slipped from his hands while giving it to Piggy.

If I took a guess, I would say that the wood weirdos were voiced by Frank WElker.

How does Fozzie know the calendar says it's Friday the 13th if he can't read?

I'm wondering, can the babies read?
How was Fozzie able to read that it was Friday the 13th?
happy7117 4 years ago 2
In most episodes the babies acknowledge that they cannot read. But they can read numbers and Rowlf had already said it was Friday.
zippy3421 4 years ago
I remembered just now, Gonzo reads the "Peter Piper" rhyme at the end of Muppet Goose.
happy7117 4 years ago
At 9:38-Fozzie's mouth doesn't move when he says his line but Gonzo's does.
