On the Internet I've read that some 3D gba games(like golden sun) don't work very well on this emulator, while 2D games(like super mario, metroid, zelda or final fantasy) work perfectly!
if you want to have a portatil emulator machine buy a GP2X WIZ whicha has a 533 mhz processor and you can overclock it to 800 without any damage (i have vey good experiences)
This is how GS runs on the best PSP emulators, seriously its due to the games compression or something because most emulators have problems with it, includint the latest Wii GBA emu
Fool. Having more memory and CPU does NOT make the DSi more powerful than the N64. N64 had its own 3D hardware and had its own sub processors and such to help it display high polygon 3D. N64 can render more polygons at once. Several tens of thousands more than DS can. It will NEVER be possible to emulate N64 on DS OR DSi. God, what stupidity... Also, cartridge storage has NOTHING to do with memory. That's like saying a PC with a 1000GB hard drive is more powerful than one with 500GB.
Thanks so much for posting this man. You saved me some cash. I'll wait until the software has a few updates before I jump in. Until then the GBA emulation on PSP is the way to go!
Not surprising to me that Golden Sun is iffy. It seems like that game is a beast for some reason (VBA GX on the Wii had problems with it for a long time too...don't remember if it still does).
thanks for posting this,it has a slight lag in battle like when playing on the psp.I gotta say this darkchen guy is good he managed to make a gba emulator on the dsi that works well too,i cant wait for a release.
Yes it does. And its not called DSiPlayer.. its called iPlayer.. DSi has the power to play videos, as well as emulate the GBA and alot of other systems too. Like the Neo Geo.
DUde your being idiotic, the DSi's CPU speed has been increased and is all aorund more powerful than the original DS.. Therefire CAN easily emulate the GBA, and bearly emulate the N64
The iPlayer can't even access the DSi's extra RAM and CPU speed. ALL flashcarts are running in DS mode, which is normal DS mode, which means no extra features, no extra RAM, and no CPU speed. And it will never be possible for the DSi to emulate the n64, the DSi is barely powerful. Trust me, emulating another console takes about 2 times as much RAM and CPU.
Just because a NDS rom is larger then a N64 rom does it make it more powerful? No, look at the PS1 and N64, the PS1 games were around 1 GB, and N64 were aound 64 MB, yet the n64 was a stronger system. Also, the DSi is average for a handheld, just not powerful enough to emulate a n64, and in the post I replied to, you said it WAS able to emulate the n64, but in your new comment, you say its NOT able to. And about the DSi being powerful, most MP3 players are more powerful.
And you do know that the amount of memory a DS cart could hold is unknown right? Biggest game out right now is 512 mb.. And PS1 games held up to 700 mb not 1 gb.
DSi isnt able to emulate it though, because PSP can barely do it lol.. But DSI is barely powerful? That shounded liek something a 10 eyar odl would say.. DSi is very powerful for a handhelds, but the PSP is just more powerful.. But that doesnt deduct from the fact that the DSi IS powerful..

Do you have a download for this? I can't get mine to read the gba files or the emulator file.
mysticfrog36 2 years ago
you need the flashcard called "iplayer DS" it only works on that one card.
edracon 2 years ago
I have the iplayer. Mine just won't work for some odd reason.

nintendo should totally put up some gba games for dsi. it'd be sweet
games like golden sun, metroid zero mission, SMB 3, FF tactics, wario land, mother3 (in my dreams), advance wars...

Those damned magical 'codecs and shit', keepin' a man down!
JLsoft 2 years ago
I know. One time my codec got damaged and my DS wouldn't work for a while.
ZeldaDD 2 years ago
does this mean there's a possibility to make it on other flashcarts or is this just showing another possibility that it can't happen?

make a gba emu? didnt you read why it only will run on iplayer?
balrogspain 2 years ago
ya i knw so ya know he just could change the codecs and shit around and make 1 for the m3 real
jacob4458 2 years ago
lolno, the M3 has no extra hardware.
I have both DSiPlayer and M3.
you have no clue how this works... do you..?

This has been flagged as spam show
no not really
jacob4458 2 years ago
ah, explains it, well the M3 contains no extra hardware (apart from the obvious) which is why it uses the DS's hardware for stuff.
The DSiPlayer uses its own CPU to process things that the DS itself couldn't do.
basicly, darkchen has ported over an existing emulator for the PC to DS using the extra hardware.
uh, as much as we'd all love a GBA emulator (or just a slot 1 way of playing GBA games) it'll never happen basicly.

no, it really doesn't
the DSiPlayer wouldn't have its own CPU if it did.

I know I'm right, and so does the DSiPlayer team who sent me a sample.

DSi is able to run a N64 game.. You do know DS games are bigger than N64 games? And DSi itself is more powerful than the N64 right?

Lol all MP3 players nowaday are more powerful than BOTH DSi and PSP.. For example, the ipod's GPU is as powerful if not more than the Gamecube's..

@APokemonproduction1 ..
It's better just to use the Ds.Lite's built in hardware to run GBA games. You can also use the ram expansion pack to.
SgtThom 2 years ago
I already know that...
APokemonproduction1 2 years ago
Iplayer has extra ram, and they use it to emulate gba.

Extra CPU actually.
