Nice to see a Flash II actually put to use, and that the light weight knife can take a little abuse. I just ordered a Flash II after playing with the excellent Flash I that I received just 4 days ago, my first SOG blade by the way. I'm sure little sister and big brother will be happy together. SOG rocks for making knives at this price point in the USA.
probably this, iv got a enacious and it's a bit large in pocket..and iv handled these and could imagine they wouldn't be. plus they both have great blades. only thing i like better about the spyderco is the jimping.
@shelbysharp13 actually I own both knives you're talking about... The Flash II is lighter, but it is about the same size if not bigger. You're right about the enhanced grip on the Spyderco and the fact that the two blades are similar in quality.. as far as great blades... thats a matter of opinion. LOL
I would take SOG. It is a bit lighter, the blade is slightly longer and the steel for my use better. It sits in the pocket really deep, almost invisible ;)
Nevertheless you should checked them bought out how they fit your hand.
awesome vid bro!....shows the usefulness and strength of a knife, and not like the idiots out there talking forever of how much they love the knife and cut paper with it.

the flash 2 seems like a weak knife to me...no liners at all just the resin or frn handle, zytel or whatever. lol. and everyone i talk to says there is lots of blade play in SOG knives.
I was using my Sog Gov Tac like this and my tip broke off:S:S:S. On the same wood, i didn't know but you can only use knives for cutting. If you push your tip in the wood you risk breaking you knife:S. It sucks, i also have a trident and flash i will only use them for cutting. I hope I can fix my gov tac, i'll like the knife but it sucks that the tip broke off. It was a brand new knife, 91$.
For an assist opening blade there is nearly no blade play. But I guess that you have to 'fine tune' the pivot screw first. I paid sending costs once to send it to them. All the knife companies ask you to do that. But most of them will ship it back to you for free. The knife will last a lifetime as long as you use it as it is made for. So no prying only cutting. But overall the flash is really nice. Hope you enjoy it!
i have the halfserrated blade and like it because its easyer to cut rope and other things but the plain blade looks good too... i always recomend that knife to any1 looking to buy a new knife. thanks for the vid.
the blade tool more abuse than it looks like it will . good i own a flash 2 , i was suprised.

holy crap i would never try that on my delica 4, is it really safe?

@shoto01 even if there was lateral play, sog knives come with a lifetime warranty, and they would fix it for free :P

Aqualiteking 3 years ago 2
did you notice any extra blade play after this?
SanitySource 3 years ago
Nope, just what Ive got straight from the factory ;)
Now I have Benchmade 913, and I must say that SOG is as sturdy as the BM with its titan/g10 handle.
If only SOG had better steel, I wouldn't bother other folders (well, maybe REKAT Sifu, but that's a different story :D ).
rafikmniam 3 years ago
woah thats awesome all this beating and no play.

Ditto.
Only drawback is the material used on the blade.
Higher HRC or better steel would do the job.
And yes, in that knife, the pain blade turns out to be more usefull.
hej

it's a good utility knife, i wish i had the plain blade but i purchased the half-serrated one instead. thanks for the vid!
