Listen up 'deathcab7'... you may have a 'Lomo' camera but unless you submit 1 out of every 28 photos to the LPAB (Lomo Photo Approval Board) and receive approval and are in current good Lomo-standing you are NOT shooting 'Lomo' photos. Do you wear a stocking hat? Huh? Do you listen to funky music? Huh? Do you shoot from the hip? Huh? You have to have Lomo on your brain 100% to shoot good Lomo !!! C'mon man!
hi...but the photo of the little soccer player you have done in a pub in barcelona calling "ovella negra"??? because if yes i was there the last week and i took a similar photo with my holga to a camp of little soccer like that!
I have Q's how do you get that vignette effect (I mean what do you say to the person whos developing/what kind of preferences or details you give the person. Please help ( already know about not using a mask and stuff)
@jjkaf2 the holga's inexpensive lens produces that due to the abberation. This is a film camera. That isn't an "effect." It's how the camera sees no matter the film. cheers
Hi! Nice slideshow you have there... I also take pictures digitally (using Pentax K20D), but I still go with Holga. I love it! I love it! I love it! I like unpredictable results. Lomography is awesome. It is also an art. I also have a couple of videos. Come and visit! You might find them interesting.

it takes okay pictures, only if you cant use it or dont know how. and peopl ewho cant use it, will buy a lomo camera. the pictures are "neat" just because its got this "oldie" effect. you want that, photoshop. these lomo cameras are a gimmick.
I'm sorry sir, but if anything is a gimmick, it is the rebel. you're spending a ton of money for the name. these WOULD be a gimmik if you spent anything over 50 for em, i however spent 20, and while i do own photoshop, i find pictures going straight from film, to a dark room, to prints, much more enjoyable.
i shoot photography as a fine art using SLR's and TLR's and professional film. But even that goes only goes so far in terms of artistic expression. the thing about lomography and toy cameras is that its an escape from the controlled environment of fine art photography. some of my best photos have come from using the holga and other lomo products, so don't knock it.
Thats the thing- holga does restrict you with its abilities, whereas any decent SLR camera won't. You dont have to abide the rules, you can take pictures in any way you like - so "controlled environment" isnt quite right.
if you need photoshop, that alone says something about your skill level. i don't have much to say except you obviously have no appreciation for art and that you should go fuck yourself. have a nice day.
this comes from probably the only person in this debate who actually does major in Arts, and is a professional photographer: photoshop is an art form by itself, refusing this, is like saying photography itself isnt art, because it means you cant paint. unlike holga cameras which are nothing more than gimmick.
having a major in arts is like having a major with your dick. and professional photographers are in it for the money so that argument of yours says nothing about your level of talent. plus you can't learn art. you can learn theory and composition but you can't learn art. for all i know you could be the professional photographer who takes pictures for the used car magazines. why don't you get a real job. i hear ups is hiring...
I'm a student of photography, theres alot more then just theory and composition. Its technique driven, and theres tons of stuff that if you dont go to school for, you would never know. Which of course helps your pictures be even better. Holga's are not a gimmick, they are a relaxing way to take pictures. Lets face it, the biggest mess up in a holga, could be the greatest picture. Its usually not like that in other formats. Plus, its real cheap for a 120mm camera.
@jacoby308 You do realise that lomography is an entirely different form of phototography? I have a rebel for point & click shots, that's easy. With a lomo camera like a holga you have to prep & load film, sort out the aperture, shoot, develop. And you only have a few tries per roll. Film is getting expensive so we only have a few chances for brilliance, whereas some 14 year old idiot can have 100 shots of the same thing, photoshop it and then pretend it's amazing. You can't compare the two.
No es justo! si tu lomografía ya había invadido un rincón de mi corazón... Amy Winehouse desparramó tus imágenes por todas mis esquinas. Sinvergüenza como se atreve usted a irrumpir de ese modo!!! *DD bicos nenoH

I love my Lomo cameras as they capture a certain image character and vintage look that my modern, hi-res DSLRs can't without manipulation.
However theres a reason that a DSLR costs 400 bucks from a photography shop and a Lomo costs 40 bucks from Urbanoutfitters...
They are both great for different reasons.

holy shit. who cares? using a holga is just one of the many ways of photography. there isn't necessarily a "wrong" way in doing photography.
that about sums that up. if u like photography, why be a bitch about

lomography is basically for people who need camera faults to hide their lack of skill.

dude i don't want to get into a big argument but anyway you look at it, its somebody's hobby so fuck off.
i would rather spend 20 dollars on a camera that produces neat pictures like this, than 800 on an overpriced rebel, that takes okay pictures.

@terps108 photoshop is just a tool. People do full paintings in it. It depends how it is used that matters.

with these cameras theres the idea that its all one big experiment, you don't know the outcome until its developed. Its all about the serendipity!
