you def hold for more than 3-5 seconds and i would def not call it effortless

if you want an effortless beachy look heres a few tips

wash your hair and go to bed with it wet, you could apply some mouse if your hair is particularly flat

instead of brusing it in the morning, braid the two side sections as shown here and gather the rest up in a messy bun

ok this is SOOOOOOO helpful because I have to do a prom updo very similar to this and was not sure how I was going to do it. Even though I'm a hairstylist I'm not good at updos like at all. This broke it down and should make it so much easier for me to recreate it. I think we're doing twists on one side instead of the braids though.

@zemmo3 I didn't want to waste the time curling hair that would just go into a braid, it wouldn't matter if the hair in the braid was straight or curly, the result would look the same.
