  • Sounds like Joe Paterno "I never heard of rape and a man..."

  • My favorite scene in The Godfather

  • 1:42 That is.......

    "Puts on sunglasses"

One Hell of a breast Implant

    YEAHHH

  • Pentangelli also appeared in Sudden Impact as the Grandfather of the bride!!

  • One thing I always wonder, who tried to kill Pentangeli in the bar ? Is it Micheal or Heyman ?

  • I like the Scene where Frank and Tom discuss the Roman Empire, really he is just hinting that Suicide is the Honourable thing to do for Frank.

  • 3 people are too busy sitting high up in the Sierra Mountains drinking Champagne Cocktails.

  • Why did Pentageli kill himself?

I thought it was because michael told him his family would be safe if he made this sacrifice.

  • @abisivepoo You could say that. He betrayed Michael in a vicious way even though Michael told him over and over not to interrupt or interfere with his Business with Hyman Roth. Remember he got Jumped by The Risotto Brothers and he thought it was Michael when in reality it was Hyman Roth who ordered the hit.

  • Dude says "Identify the gentleman sitting to your left!" He mans HIS left not Toms.

  • @lordvoldemort578 no, "his" meaning Michael's left. He was addressing Mike but Tom spoke in his behalf.

  • The only reason Francis had to bring in the character 'Frank Pentangelli was because the actor that played Peter "Fat" Clemenza was given the boot for being an asshole, wanting to write his own dialog and pissing Francis off.

  • @WiseGuy5674 Coppola said that he enjoyed working with the actor who played Clemenza and it was something else that he left for

  • the cutaway is the meeting with Bonasera the undertaker, it's not pantangelli

  • They said Michael Corleone did this and Michael Corleone did that! and I said, yeah sure, why not?

  • Comment removed

  • actually mr.pentangeli looks exactly like one of my uncles.my uncle transported opium from kerman to tehran in the late 60's.

  • "so I said uhhhhh... YEEEA'! SHURE!"

haha, pentangeli is a fucking legend

  • haha just bought the series on Blu-ray even though i've watched it 1000 times... Frank Pentangeli is perfect for this role.. his voice and look are straight gangster..

  • i dont know nothing about no godfather.... my favorite scene

  • A great, underrated performance from Michael V. Gazzo, and absolutely deserving of his Oscar nomination

  • at least michael just warned him and let him have a chance

  • ...yeah, a buffa Senator, we got alotta buffa's....

  • finally a witness with no buffer....

  • @lawman722 - gay

  • I think this is a great clip. The scenes from the past don't include Peter Clemenza but what was shown was enough to invoke Pentangeli's past.

  • That clip is indeed Frank Pentangeli in the Godfather II portrayed by actor Michael Gazzo. Amerigo Bonasera (the funeral director) was played by actor Salvatore Corsitto in the Godfather I. Richard Castellano was supposed to appear as Clemenza in Part II, but there was a dispute when Castellano asked that his wife write his lines. Coppola refused and Clemenza was replaced by Frank Pentangeli, played by Gazzo. Richard Castellano was in real-life cousin of Gambino crime boss Paul Castellano.

  • Wtf is this video supposed to be? That guy in "the past" isn't Pentangeli, it's Bonasera the funerals fellow.

Pentangeli is actually a replacement for Clemenza's character, which was written out of the script because Castellano (who played Clemenza in I) was asking for too much to re-appear in II.

Watch the films again ... you'll figure out the story properly AND these two films are great to watch again. I must have seen I and II at least 5 times each.

  • @avssrs

I think you need to watch the films 6 times. I guess Sicilians all look alike to you. That is actor Michael Gazzo playing Frankie Pentangelo.

  • Geez man, I know this is Gazzo playing Pentageli. I'm talking about the "past" aspect of this video. The poster of this video shows Bonasera and says that is Pentangeli remembering his past. Hence, a rational and deserved wtf.

  • I love Frankie Pentangeli character. great acting in every scene he was involved.

  • @intxigated. Thanks for response . But I know why he didn't testify . I was wondering how Tom Hagan was able to gain access to Frank while he was still sesquestered at the Army base

  • Lol

They used scenes with the undertaker as if that was Pentangeli himself.

  • beautiful acting

  • the 1:38 killing is in Godfather III, and that was the death of Joey Zasa, orderes by Al Neri, Constanza Corleone and Vincent Mancini. Pentangeli is gone in Godfather 3.

  • sorry when i made this i was just starting out and had limited footage avaliable.

  • Pentangeli committed suicide on the orders of the second film Michael

  • the senator was working to hyman hoff

  • Hyman WHO?

  • They kept saying Michael Corleone did this and Michael Corleone did that...so i said YEAH SURE...love that scene...

  • He sounds just like Chawlie Rangel

  • "I dunno nuthing about that"

  • How was Hagan able to have a meeting with frank while he was in custody at the military base ? Can someone please explain . It seems strange that a defense attrony would be permitted to meet with a wittness dureing a grand jury hearing. Are the writers useing poetic license here or perhaps a technical oversight. Love the movie

  • After Frankie changed his mind, the FBI had no more use for him. He was arrested and put in a normal jail.

  • @tfe423 I think it was after the hearing, not during, but that's still a good point. Hagan could not have gotten on Frankie's visitor's list.

  • @tfe423

Are you talking about why Frank didn't testify? Its because he saw his brother at the hearing and realised what he was doing was against Omerta and highly dishonorable so he didn't testify.

  • More likely Frank knew his brother would be toast if he testified.

  • how it was not between the brothers

  • This is a great clip and editing between two of the greatest films ever!

  • Micheal Corleon did this....Micheal Corleone did that...

  • "So I said, yea, sure"

  • "But we have a sworn affidavit. We HAVE it. YOUR sworn affidavit, saying that you murdered on the orders of Michael Corleone ......"

"Yeah? Go wipe your ass with your sworn affidavit, Senator. I changed my mind. I can't be a stool pigeon with my brother from Sicily sitting right over there. Capisce?"

  • haha i love how he says that

  • His voice is great,i can imitate him

  • "I never knew no Godfather!"

  • Frankie Pentangeli was my favorite character for some reason.

  • The mafia wouldnt kill Frankies brother anyway's, he did nothing, that would be like killing carlo's brother because Carlo was hitting Mike's sister. It's uncalled.

  • they werent gonna kill him

they only brought him there because his brother didn't know about his involvement with the mafia and Frankie didn't want him to know that he was a murderer

  • no actually his brother is a don in Sicily and frank broke the omerta and they brought him there to scare him.

  • Frankie 5 Angels...... my favorite Godfather character......

  • truly it is one of the best lines. I am not one of those people that are big Godfather fans...gosh knows its a long series but when I saw this scene I loved it... "I never knew no godfather"....

I sometimes picture Barry Bond's trainer being put on the stand and reacting this way.

  • An early draft of the script, his brother is himself a hardened Mafia chieftain in Sicily. Shocked that Frankie is about to betray the Corleones, Vincenzo appears to remind Frankie that he must not break the Mafia's code of silence, Omertà. His brother's mere presence and icy stare directed at Frankie serve as a threat that if Frankie follows through with his planned testimony, retribution will be taken against his children, who are living in Sicily under Vincenzo's guardianship

  • franks wife n daughter lives with him in vito corleones old house

  • Michael brought Vincenzo Pentangeli as a kind of hostage to intimidate Frank Pentangeli into keeping his mouth shut concerning the Corleone family. If Frank testified against Michael Corleone, Vincenzo would be killed.

  • No Vincenzo would of lived both ways.

It was Frankies family that would of died.

  • "I don't know nothin' about that..." 1:22

  • also Hagen tells Pentangeli about how plotters failed attempts towards the emperor in Roman times could have a chance for their families to be taken care of after their deaths if they killed themselves.

  • i really don't get this part, what has that brother to do with it at all?

  • i didnt understand at first either and was never really explained in the film, but i have two theories. 1-if Pentangeli testified against Michael maybe they wouldve killed his brother. 2-his brother showed up to remind him of his loyalty to the family, when Pentangeli and Hagen are talking in the army barracks he says "my brother is ten times tougher than me".

  • Great analysis lordsahasrala88. I totally agree, and I remember how scared Pentageli was when Michael and his brother Vincenzo came in.

  • when five angeles sees his brother with michael he knows that it wasnt michael or the corelones who tried to kill him. Michael had no way of telling frank that it wasnt him who ordered the hit because frank was in a military base.

  • That how I always took it. I dont think Mike would ever have ordered a hit on pentangeli. When Frankie saw his brother he realized he had no reason to cooperate and testify against Michael, and when Tom Hagen visits him in prison they kind of lay it out when they are smoking the cigars. They would not visit him in jail if they had wanted him dead. Frankie kills himself cause he knows he cant do the time. This is where the earlier reference to his brother being 10x tougher comes in.

  • Frankie kills himself not because he can't do the time, but because the feds could try to use him against Michael again in a future hearing. Michael was taking no chances; he wanted all his enemies dead. Hagen told Pentangeli about how the families of Roman plotters against the Emperor were allowed to keep their estates if the plotters committed suicide. This meant that Michael would continue to take care of Frankie's family very well if Frankie killed himself.

  • Thanks for telling me what that was all about. Duh.

  • great scene

  • The bald guy in film one isn't Pantangelli, it's Bonasera. The undertaker. Good vid otherwise.

  • He has been in the custody of the FBI since the murder attempt, believing that Michael ordered him killed. He is prepared to testify that Michael is the head of the most powerful Mafia family in the nation and has ordered countless murders. He is considered very credible, since as a capo there is no insulation between him and Michael.

  • No insulation? You mean no buffers.

"Right, yeah, buffer. The family had a lot of buffers!"

  • Although Rosato invokes Michael's name in the attempted hit on Pentangeli it is clear from dialogue between Michael and Fredo that Pentangeli's fate after the shootout was a mystery to Michael. This discussion happens in the brothers' first meeting following Michael's confrontation with Fredo in Havana.

  • Although Rosato invokes Michael's name in the attempted hit on Pentangeli it is clear from dialogue between Michael and Fredo that Pentangeli's fate after the shootout was a mystery to Michael.

  • This is the greatest film of all time, not Citizen Kane!!!

  • who was behind the assassination attempt with Pentangeli?was it Michael or hyman roth? anyone answer me?

  • the rizata brothers where in contention with frankie five fingers...but they where backed by roth - but no michael did not sanction the attempt on pentangeli but did capitalize on it.

  • it was micheal who sent a guy to kill him but the cops came

  • I didnt think so, if youll remember, Michael himself was wondering who ordered the attempted assassination and Tom Hagen remarked "Roth played this beautifully". I just got confused why the Rosatto brothers henchman mentioned the name of Michael before he strangle Frank Pentangeli.

  • yeh i remember but the part whemn they are chocking him the guy says micheal corleone says hello

  • It was a lie to make Frankie think it was Michael who wanted him dead.

I've always wondered if the cop wandered in there on purpose (by Roth) as well, to "accidently" break up Frankie's assassination, leading to his arrest and him becoming a federal witness against Michael.

  • The attempted garrotting (choking) was based on a true NYC gangster incident, except they switched the characters. Instead of the boss getting choked by the peons, it was a peon getting choked by the boss's guys. And a cop DID walk in right in the middle of it. (See Gallo-Profaci war, 1961).

  • The film was really hard to understand for me the first time around. Michael told Hyman Roth about the hit and then waited to see whether it would be carried out. Taking out Pantangelli because Roth figured Michael was going to anyway. Had they done it alone, the Rizotto Brothers wouldn't know it was by order of Michael. By interfering in Michael's affairs he failed the test.

  • he didn't snitch because the message was that if he did....his michael was going to kill his brother.

  • It was actually more of an honor thing. Even to this day the Sicilian mafia has upkept the code of silence to a much higher degree than its American counterpart. His brother was just there to tell him to take his pinch like a man.

  • ever heard about omertà?

  • FBI think they can outfox the don.

    Michael's response, "Try again".

  • video is great! THANK YOU

  • does anyone have the clip of michael telling senator geary to put up the money for the gambling license?

  • the guy getting shot was in the GodfatherIII

  • i konw it was the only murder clip i could get :(

  • still it was a good video. do you have the whole film uploaded?

  • lol

  • "I don't know nuthin' about that"

  • I loved when Frank says: "Look the "FBI Guys" cut me a deal" lol!

  • Loved the look on Frankie's face when he saw Michael sitting next to his brother.

  • "I was in the olive oil business with his father." Said like a true gangster....

  • "Michael Corleone did this and Michael Corleone did that, so I said uhhhh yeahh sure.." awesome....

  • One of the best lines in the whole movie.
