How do you define extreme liberalism? I don't think any of the hippies beliefs are too extreme. Unless of course you consider all hardcore hippies ones that do hard drugs.
The reality is that there are many educated hippies even today. Many professors believe in the hippy ideology. Laziness has nothing to do with it. The main point is to spread love and understanding. If you don't think there is a purpose in there, then you really are just a sheep in the herd.

@thebestsumoeva People and understanding that we are all the same. yet different. Each one of us is unique, but we are all equal as human beings. Although it might seem obvious by this basic point, people seem to forget this stuff.
They treat each other like crap, take advantage of one another. People also constantly fight for "status" and "recognition" and to have these markers of prestige given to us in society. In reality the main thing we should be concerned about is how we treat

Until that day we will need policemen to protect us from criminals and a military to protect us from other nations that mean us harm. I am happy you love peace but you are forgetting that there are still bad people out there who wouldn't think twice about taking your stuff even if it required taking your life.

@thebestsumoeva Who said that i was against a police force in general? I am against the way that they treat the public, and the increasing neoliberalist policies that are taking over policing. They are increasingly serving the rich and the more privileged in our society. While those most vulnerable (the homeless, minority groups) are being treated like secondary citizens and their civil rights are being stripped away.

I want people to be free and independent and able to make their own decisions. Our politicians today can no longer make any common sense decisions good for the nation. They can only make empty promises and continue to buy votes because they have no leadership.

@thebestsumoeva I agree about the politicians. Although the ones that become most popular in the public's eyes, are those that offer "tax cuts" and believe it will solve the economic problems. Let's face it, the majority of the public is clueless and want's immediate relief. Few people think of the future.
The Welfare state creates opportunities for those people "who do not have the same advantages" It's easy for many middle class people, raised in good families to make this claim.

@kenzo4000 The welfare state strips people of their independence and forces them into a cycle of poverty and more welfare. It's like telling a drug addict to quit doing drugs while forcing his friends and family to buy him more drugs. Politicians today can't form any logic besides "I will give you everything you want" in order to get elected. Our System is in such bad shape because leadership is dead in this country.

@thebestsumoeva That is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. All research has shown that in order to bring people out of poverty and crime is through social policies and the welfare state. This is why countries like Denmark have few homeless people, because they have a generous welfare system. At the same time they have one of the highest employment rates (so it's not like people are abusing it)

Norway is doing fine because they happen to be sitting on one of the worlds largest oil reserves. By your logic we should all follow Saudi Arabia's economic system. They are all rich and have lots of money, but once the world stops using oil they are all fucked.

@thebestsumoeva Not everybody has had the same advantages that you and me have. Some people have mental illnesses, or are disabled and unable to work. There are a variety of reasons of why certain people cannot succeed in this society. The notion that everybody is born equal, and it is just a matter of "effort and motivation" to succeed, is ridiculous.
Now i know there are people who abuse the welfare system. But the answer isn't to cut its funding, it's to ensure that those who need it

@kenzo4000 I never said get rid of social security for mentally handicapped. It's absolutely ridiculous to teach someone to support themselves when you hand them everything in life. What I want is a better more closely knit society that we used to have. Once in which we personally take care of our mentally handicapped and ill. We need to stop throwing other peoples money at them and then tossing them to the side like they don't matter. It's time we come together and help one another.

We aren't just throwing money at them. The welfare state gives funds to those who absolutely need it to survive. But it is very difficult to live off welfare. This is why the government institutes (not the level they should) programs to help people look for work.

@kenzo4000 It's interesting how every society that practices heavy welfare becomes poorer over time. You are right that in the 1950's we started treating African Americans as second class citizens. That is when we started throwing them all on welfare in an effort to help them and ever since then they've been getting worse. Youtube "thomas sowell" he's an African American economists and can sum it up quite nicely if your interested in an intellectually stimulating discussion.

@kenzo4000 There is very strong empirical evidence that demonstrates the welfare state brings more people into poverty. If welfare was meant to take people out of poverty then why do so many politicians get excited when more people join welfare? We should celebrate people leaving welfare and becoming free of the kind of government usurpations of power we've placed them under with our welfare state ideology.

@thebestsumoeva The biggest problem is the "fear" that is created in the public. Through "terrorism" and other ideas, while the powerful take control. By spreading "fear" we give over control to the governments. SO they can freely use our tax dollars to fight unjust wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) and to set up puppet regimes all over the world.
The whole idea of "nationality" is just a way to separate people. People in United Stated and UK and increasingly defining the notion of

@thebestsumoeva The war has nothing to do with 9/11. There is no connection between Iraq and the event, other than the fact that there are extremists in this nation. Now that US has invaded it, there are a lot more (especially since they disbanded the army) So it was counter productive.
Second of all, if United States really wanted to try and eliminate terrorism, they should change their foreign policy. Tell them to stop setting up puppet regimes everywhere in the world, and stop

@kenzo4000 Osama Bin Laden definitely had something to do with 9/11. Iraq wasn't as justified but they did have WMD's as was shown by one of the recent wiki-leaks cables. I agree we should not give up freedoms in order to fight terrorism. We also should not stand idle and let them continue to do the things they do. Go to Germany today and you will see their country being taken over by fundamentalist islam.

@kenzo4000 I can't find the article right now, but some undercover reporters went into German mosque to see what they were like. Essentially they were talking about how they wanted to convert all of Germany into Islam and thank god they are a democracy because if they can get a 51% population majority they can simply elect all their own officials to essentially turn Germany into another middle eastern country. Granted I'm not anti Muslim, but reforming a country for ideology? Give me a break.

@thebestsumoeva Don't believe everything you read. Sometimes certain stories are over hyped in the media, simply because they catch the public's attention. In reality there are more extremist Catholic cults in United States and Europe that have these distorted views. Nobody is talking about them now, because the hot topic is "muslims"
I think the most disguising thing is that people are talking about this freely as if it is normal. Like it is ok to discriminate against muslims
