  • Their vocals are PERFECT. I mean, good God, that is PERFECT.

  • I remember seeing them around at this competition and I couldnt figure out why they had their hair like that....until I saw this exact show. I really wish they would come to Fairfield again

  • @tubbsyclone actually to get into finals and win you don't need a lot of dancing because 60% or more of your score is vocals. So if the choreography you have is minimal but clean then you're fine.

  • This reminds me soo much of brodway...

  • @cruzaroni Preach it!

  • i saw this exact show and i was in 6th grade....first year of show choir, and my friends were in total AWE!!!!! i wish i couldve saw it a second time....or third :)

  • they sing well and its a cool show they just dont dance! that's a very main aspect of what show choir is

  • @tubbsyclone define "dance"

  • hey you're very good and talented. I wish there would be clubs like this in my country but they are very uncommon here. You are much better than other groups, I surely will recommend you to my friends.

    Greetings and kisses from Germany!!

Oh, and sorry for my english, it isn't very good...

  • Wow. What a talented group of "kids"--and the fact that they are basically self-supporting in their efforts to be involved in the arts, and SO good at it, how impressive!

  • They're the best love them " like so much " how can they sing and dance like that with perfection not even one mistake gosh I hope Arab people be perfect in their things like those people , I hope we reach and achieve more ...;-)

  • I SAW THIS!!!!! IT WAS SOOOOO COOL!!!!!!! i just wish that i couldve seen them this year :(

  • They should have performed part of this on Oprah.

  • Holy "Golden Afternoon" Batman! That was amazing!

  • @mikebernhard85 your stupid...theyre amazing.

  • AHHHHHHHH! I was there!!! They were the best group i have everrr seen!

i was part of the Ada Varsity Singer

  • whats their second song called?

  • @soysoi "Let Me Fall" by Carly Smithson

  • @showchoirhd The soloist sings her solo SO much better than Carly Smithson :D

  • @712riah Hi Mariah, You can check out the studio version of "Let Me Fall" that they recorded at /watch?v=R0mAUOReMTs

  • This is what TRUE show choir is. The problem with the east coast is that EVERYBODY copies clinton, in one way or another. Clinton needs to change up their style for ANY progress towards the new, more artistic style to take place. It's about time we start embracing the "show" part. That's exactly what this choir represents.

  • @DOA223 I agree. Our shows are no where near what Clinton's is but our choreographer Jason Johnson said that we cleaned up our first number like them. I honestly think East Coast looks up to them.

  • @cruzaroni they do!!!!

  • 8 people got beat by this showchoir...

  • I remember being backstage helping one of the other groups and watching them perform. It was awesome.

  • I don't get how you can dislike this? :O

  • @firenzable ... I think that classic show choirs like Clinton attache will always stay true and original. They're shows are so flawless and it's refreshing to see that they still can win and conquer with true, purely entertaining show choir.

  • @yupperz1 in with the new out with the old.

  • is this from john burroughs high??

  • @sohnnysdream Yesss

  • I love PowerHouse :)

<333 I love showchoir in general.

  • This is why I love Southern California.. we have the best arts~

  • SHANNNNNNNOOOONNNN IS THEEEEEE HOTTTTTTEEEEEESSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT

  • What song are they singing at 3:00?

  • @miscNathalie "Let Me Fall"

  • Is it normal for schools out west to do their own lighting? Nobody around here (Indiana) does it, but I think it makes the show that much more awesome!

  • @cartmanclone515 yeah :) usually the lighting is done by other students known as the "techs" they do lighting, and set up among other things.

  • Just a random question....is it normal to have that many people in a glee club?? sorry, my school doesnt have one so the only insight i get is from glee lol

  • @strgrl424 Competing show choirs usually have anywhere between 20 to 40 kids, though some have much more than that. How some groups out there fit 60 people on stage baffles me... But if you're going by Glee standards, strangely enough Vocal Adrenaline is more like a real choir than New Directions!

  • @strgrl424 Schools at least in California that have show choir aren't glee clubs, they're actual classes that you can take, so yes, it depends what school you go to. My school has 39 people. Some schools like John Burroughs go up to even about 80 or something. John Burroughs is a very choir orientated school compared to most, so they are known for their choir program.

  • @PhoKingVi3t Burroughs VMA actually has a total of 200+ people in it. We have 5 competing choirs (2 mixed, 2 womens, and 1 mens). Powerhouse actually takes up two periods during the day.

Just some fun facts, haha (:

  • @radgirl21 lmao Yes, I know I'm from Diamond Bar Marquis, haha so I know a bit about Burroughs and I have a friend in Sound Sensations. :) Haha. Thanks for the info though haha. Haha but I was saying like 80 people in one choir not the choir department. xD

  • @cruzaroni that sucks, i go to that school & im a freshman & joined the choir program & so far its really good,(:

  • this group is INCREDIBLE. my school's mixed show choir looks like a joke in comparison. is this group an actual class that practices during the school day or is it after school. the choreography, the lighting, the vocals, set, and everything are STUNNING.

  • @lulu4ever2 WELl they practice everyday, its their zero period and during comp seasons, they practice in the afternoon

  • @lulu4ever2 it is both we have it as an elective class & rehearse after school, & all the lighting is because of the tech crew is high schoolers as well :)

  • the first two numbers never fail to give me goosbumps :)

  • @cruzaroni actually, alot of schools dont claim their showchoirs like they should. im an alum from DeKalb classic connection and sound sensation, and our school almost disowns us.

  • i feel like their theme and costumes take away from the traditional showchoir dont get me wrong they are ahhhmazing!!! but it reminds me more of broadway show than showchoir

  • @goldenlily17 What should show choir be?

  • @goldenlily17 but thats what makes us california choirs so unique. we make it more theatrical and to be honest a lot less boring.

  • @cruzaroni me too.. lol...

  • Let's watch Glee try to beat that ^_^

  • Oprah they were awesome

  • the show themes are so cool and unigue...i come up with shows......on another note the soloist in Mad World isnt having her best performance! i think it is weird that during the ballad(Golden Afternoon) the director conducts for them. But the ballad is a great choiceThe 3rd song choice is a relief from the seriousness of the rest show

  • speaking as a showchoir alum., this is pretty cool. i could just imagine what other choirs could do had they had the outside funds like this school probably does.

  • @ashleymarieism We only wish we had outside funds. 99% of Burroughs choirs' funds come from the fundraising of the kids and parents themselves

  • @tskot the saddest part is that our parents cant afford this kind of stuff, so our shows seem so much more "common rate" as far as costumes and backdrops go. we work with what we have, and thats what i love about midwest showchoirs. we're all the same. its more of a competition on vocals and dance than it is "best show concept" or "best costumes".

  • @ashleymarieism Umm What Outside funds?

  • I love Powerhouse! They definitely understand the meaning of being theatrical onstage. Not only that, but they can actually REALLY sing too.

  • This is easily better then any Clinton show...

Imagination and Creativity beats stiff "classic" showchoir anyday in my book.

  • @firenzable But then its not real show choir, is it? Theres two types of show choirs: West Coast and East Coast. West Coast being the more flamboyant and interesting. East Coast is...simpler.

  • @Sirmaori More southern and midwestern (traditional) than East coast.

  • @firenzable I mean they do perform shows that are par to those on a broadway stage. They also pay about 3,000 a year to fund for all the props and such, but amazingly worth it. Their shows are magical and so powerful.

  • Ahahaha Gotta love John burroughs!! I might be in Powerhouse next next Year. I only got into Sound waves this year! Go PowerHouse peeps!

  • james rizzo is so STUDLY no jk

  • its almost like im watching the actual movie!

  • fucking amazing! i met them(:

  • "let me fall" by who??

  • @coldplaychica Take some time to read the comments and you'll find the answer you're looking for.

  • @coldplaychica carly smithson

  • Brilliant!

  • holy crap. that's a good opener o.o

  • what were the songs on the setlist??

  • @jayson15458 "Mad World," "Let Me Fall," "Golden Afternoon," "Party All Night," "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite," "Beautiful Child" "City of Delusion" "Run"

  • Whoa. Ah-mazing A capella song! Just wow!!!!!!!

  • the best in the usa :D

  • Seeing this show in person is just..wow.

    Insane.

    I could barely breathe.

  • @kenziefornow I know exactly how you feel! Same thing happens with Burbank's show this year as well...and theya re usually 1 after the other! just too much for me to take hhaha.

  • I love how "different" this show is -- very well put together!! Great show and by far entertaining!!

  • do i count 52 people?? O_O

  • LOL.I felt like I was on acid or shrooms watching this...

  • Choirs like these make me wish I'd get over my nerves and sing in a choir/showchoir.

You guys are amazing :) Keep it up!

  • the soloist in the opener is so good

  • I love their a'cappella. It sounds fantastic! Perfect mix of crescendos, vibratos and consistent SATB blend.

  • I love this show but i would have to say my favorite shows this year are Brea Olinda Masquerades and also Serrano Vocal Points :)

  • what's the song at 1:40 - 3:50

  • "Let Me Fall," originally performed by Carly Smithson.

  • Burroughs Powerhouse is AMAZING! XD

  • they performed at my school!! :D

soo did hollywood high last year they were

    both amazing(:

  • wow i love burroghsss

  • These guys are sick. They came to my school and performed this :)

  • they are going to oprah!!!! april7th it will air!!

  • Really is that true?

  • whats the first number called?

  • Mad World/Let Me Fall by Tears for Fears/Carly Smithson. Let Me Fall is an unreleased song

  • The 2:20 dance break looks so cool on the lifts.

  • I love the clarity of this groups vocals - I think they could possibly be a bitttt more dark though.

  • Well, I think that in the context of the show, the level of darkness works pretty well. It gives tim burton a run for his money enough as it is, I think if it were more dark, it might go a tad overboard.

  • I can see your point, However when I listen to the women at 0:33 or at 1:00 - I want a nice big chest-resonant dark WOMAN sound, it seems a tad bright to me, but I'm very biased towards dark vocals... just my personal tastes...

  • @colinloynachan She is my daughter and I agree with you. But... She's 17, hardly a woman, yet.

  • @DOA223

Absolutely agree. A show dosen't have to be dark to be good. However, I am a huge fan of breaking the traditional upbeat "show choir" sets.

  • @Chengsta92 I don't remember the last time I've seen an upbeat show choir that had more than 45 people lol. Everyone just goes for dark, gloomy, and semi-controversial nowadays it seems.

  • @PrestoMovie12 I disagree actually. There are plenty of show choirs, especially in the south and midwest, that still apply a VERY traditional approach to shows. I personally love dark songs, as long as they serve the purpose. Groups who do dark songs just for the sake of doing dark songs irritate me. But groups such as Powerhouse, who use those songs to their advantage and create a storyline using songs from multiple genres and moods... those groups have my full respect and attention.

  • @Chengsta92 The reason why they are using dark songs to their advantage for the story line is because the credit falls upon the musical arranger. He takes modern pop songs and re-writes them to original arrangements. We also have to get licensing rights to songs that are too recent like the first solo. Sometimes other show choirs buy some of our music and licensing rights. Its OK, because we want VMA across the nation to share and do excellent as well. Lots of talent in this world.

  • @truvelocity The arranger certianly gets credit for recreating songs, but I think whoever came up with the storylines, concept and song selections for this and last years shows is the true genius.

  • @Chengsta92 The main choreographer has a lot to do with it, too. As well as participating in costume design. Creative people impress me. The kids then take off with the support and helps their self esteem.

  • @Chengsta92 Jen is incredible.

  • @TheCreazilCrew So I've heard, lol.

  • Oh my bad, I thought you meant like dark as in theme, not vocals

  • This at Fairfield?

  • @sallad741 yes. finals

  • ok please no rude comments! Just saying i dont wanting hating and arguments just fun like how real showchoir is. :) Oh and great quality by the way! WOOT HD

  • There is no one like them! Powerhouse alway's pushes the envelope! Win or Lose! Good for them!

  • TY Häakon and company!! =D
