JP you have hit the nail on the head. It's easy to understand and a person doesn't have to take all day and go over and over the video 30 times to make sense of it. I am going to start doing special efx in green screening and hope you have more info on green screening like different ways we can use it. Does it have to be footage you put behind your subject, or can it be a photoshop image, say you want a slightly colored background? Does it matter if footage or photoshop stuff is in your background?

Yes it is, iMovie hd is even simpler; but it doesn't do half (even a quarter) of what final cut can do.

IF IM DOING AN ANIMATION WITH A KEN DOLL, CAN I PUT GREEN CARDBOARD BEHIND THE DOLL AND STILL USE FINAL CUT PRO TO GREEN SCRENE?IF SO HOW?

@333hoodboy yes, i think. i know this is a month too late, but i will just tell you how anyway. 1) get the footage of the the green cardboard with the doll in front 2) crop the video so it just the green background and the doll 3) follow the steps

the only thing that would make it impossible was if it wasnt the right color or shade.

This was incredibly helpful! I spent an hour trying to go through Final Cut 'Help' and couldn't get past Color-Correction and Green/Blue Screen which didn't explain how to create the effect! Who'd have thought it was 'Chroma Keyer' - you just made my headache go away and my day get lots better!

@Monopolcom if you have an ipod just get shazan, turn up the volume really loud and record the song using shazam, it should tell you what the song is!

@yourdarkestknight Yeah FCP is an Apple only editing system. There are other programs such and Avid and Pinnicle to use on PCs. I suggest you get an Apple though because FCP is one of my favorites to use when editing. Plus you can run a PC on a Mac so its a win-win situation!

Hi there, please i need help with FCP 7. I downloaded the software and it was working fine, but i came home to realise my mum moved the FCP 7 to trash, i removed it from trash, clicked on it to open, and each time i do this comes up:

Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly

click reopen to open the application. This report will be sent to apple automatically.

Great video! One thing also to be extra careful of, notice Chelseas shirt when the background moves? Make sure the character is not wearing any shade of green it can cause lots of problems and extra editing time. Great vid though.!!

Nicely done, good step-by-step instructions, though I really think it could have been done in 2-3 min instead of 4:30 with more concise editing... I was scrubbing through to get to the info. Some phrasing made little sense aka "come towards your shot" (00:40). It does the job though.

i think i know what it is... go to sequence (on the top) and press "render all" you have to that every time u do an effect..

Some effects make significant alterations to your video, so Final Cut Pro needs to render them. Because rendering takes up space on your hard drive, FCP allows you to decide when you're ready to render.

If ever you see a red horizontal line across the top of your timeline, FCP is telling you that this portion of the sequence must be rendered. If ever you hear beeping sound, your audio needs rendering. As InsanelyAwesomeness says, just go to "Sequence" and render your video, audio, or both.

If your going to do a tutorial, at least do it right. And if you don't do it right, at least cut it so it seems like you knew what you were doing.

You were telling people to put the background footage over the keyed footage, and then you changed your mind and said 'make sure you put it, eh, on top', and you dragged it up to the third track. Come on man, doing a second take wouldn't kill you. You made a simple thing sound a bit confusing.
