i went to see the revrend didnt know who they were yet got backstage talk to them 30 min for i found out it was them .they r cool as shit now i know.....ps we talked bout hotrods
This is the most faithful cover of Rock This Town that I've ever heard in my life. I've never even seen these guys play live! I gotta go before I fuckin' die
I almost feel like lighting a cigarette!!! One of my all time favorite bands, covering one of my favorite songs, by another one of my all time favorite bands. I am overcome by a huge wave of awesomeness. Long live Reverend Horton Heat!!!!!!!!!
lol mojo82 ... "Lighten up, Francis' " ... I like both the Rev and Setzer. But ..... I haven't seen Brian do any of the Rev's covers. Like GitFiddlesErCool said .. two different styles. They both rock!
The Rev and Brian Setzer have completely different styles. The only things that are similar about them is that they both play Rockabilly and their signature guitars are nearly identical to each other. Brian Setzer draws more from the Jazz side of Rockabilly, and the Reverend draws more from the Country side. It makes perfect sense when you consider than Jim Heath is from Texas and Setzer is from New York. The Rev's playing is a bit nastier, but I'm a huge fan of both and would never choose.
Yeah! They are different. But it's interesting how the Rev plays complete homage to Brian by, not only playing a faithful note for note 'Setzer' solo, but he does kind of adopt his style for this song.... or is it just me? lol
@GitFiddlesErCool I agree. Both are great guitarists, singers and songwriters. However, as you said...like comparing apples and oranges. I love both. :)
i'll tell you what guys - the Rev is doing what Brian would never do..... play the faithful solo's live. Brian always has his signature live work which is never what appeared on the original, but the Rev is playing the album version.. or thereabouts - lol
i've seen them both. The Reverend is merely doing a cover. No big deal. Yes, Brian Setzer is better at the song, probably because it's HIS tune. The Reverend has his own tunes, and that's cool. Lighten up, Francis', Sgt, Hulka
does he have some feud with Brian Setzer no one talks about? because i've seen him play this and before he started the intro he said "alright heres a hit from the '80s."

Are these guys pretty approachable? Cause the last guy I tried to talk to was a total douche, that guy being Yngwie Malmsteen.

@bowler2383 Yngwie Malmsteen has been known as a douche for at least 25 years. Did you just find this out recently? lol

It is a hit of the 80s, i think 81 or 82 with Stray Cats first album.

He's not playing the riff with a bend the whole time! My mind is like being blown that he isn't playing it like it's written haha.
Still a great cover, though.
