  • Oh Boy this video reminds me, I've got to get my Timing belt Done on my 1995 KS Verada soon (has the 6G72 SOHC 12 valve 3 litre) it only got done 2 years ago but that was 93,000km ago, I do mine every 100,000km well my mechanic does and he does the FULL MAJOR service cleans the engine, oil, filters, coolant, cleans the injecters etc walked out $1300 ligter last time for the timing belt change and major service the good Old things built for Aussie Conditions

  • Next vid: How to fix a spun bearing engine

  • But good vid though, except for the jack on the oil pan.

  • lets round the fucken cam bolt,, thats not the way of showing people how to do that. 3.21 it rounds it, can you work on my car and do that.

  • Someone could hang themselves with that belt.

  • what is "occure"

  • thank you men be good godbless

  • few tips for the home mechanic , if you dont have an impact gun to take of crankshaft pulley, put on a breaker bar and lean against frame , then crank the engine until it breaks it loose, also when u do the auto tensioner if you dont have factory pin to slide in a very small allen wrench works perfect , LOL @ the guy lowering the oil pan directly onto the jackstand, oh and pry bar on the waterpump is completely unecessary haha , But still great vid & info

  • Whats the average weekly wage for a good experienced Vehicle Technician (Mechanic) in the USA ?

  • @007bondspy 15

  • @007bondspy 15

    average good experienced

either is average or good experienced

  • @Shazee083 I've been a tech for just under 20 years now, I'm very experienced, VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) trained, and already had 3 understudies who went on from mechanic to tech. I'am very interested in relocating to the U.S and I would appreciate it if you could give me a rough idea what kind of money is out there. The only field i dont have experience of format is auto transmissions as here in the uk they are not popular. Would this be a problem?.. thanks in advance for gettin back to me.

  • @007bondspy lol from mechanic to tech why would they go backwards what a joke a mechanic knows how engines and autos in general work and how to use the proper tools and techniques to fix while a tech is a glorified oil changer/ brake guy who is starting to use a scan tool.If they scan tool doesnt tell him exactly what it is thats wronghe is lost.Cant tell you how many o2 sensors ive seen reploace because of o2 code when it was a vacume or intake leak instead.

  • @mrwhtcrckr I fully indersand where you are coming from my friend, though where Im coming from is 20 years experience on the tools for VW/Audi and they kind of stopped calling 'Techs' 'mechanics' about 10 years or so ago..can you give me an idea what kind of salary should I expect If i deide to relocate to the states??I have a very good name where I come from and my references are from Brand managers and Workshop controllers i have worked with for many years now.

  • @007bondspy i pay my employees any where from 8.00 hourly as entry level to 30.00 an hour flat rate.My brother in law pays his guys up to 52.00 an hour flat rate.Flat rate is the labor time that alldata or mitchell says a job can be done in.if it says tbelt done in 3 hours that what we pay 3 hours wether it takes tech 3 hours 6hours or 2 hours. It is based on what a trained tech with the right tools can get the job done in.We do not supply the tools other than big items lifts, tire machines etc.

  • @mrwhtcrckr Thank you for taking the tme to reply to me that was very kind of you. I currently live in Scotland, and at the moment Im paid 10 GBP an hour after tax. Im saving at the minute with a view to relocate to the US possibly early next year. Im sorry to take up anymore of your time my friend, bt could you tell me how the market is for employment in the US is at the moment ? are workshops hire'ing persnell at present, what are my chances of employment?

  • I would have to say that these videos are correct and show you everything you need to know to change the timing belt kit... great job.. and thanks for the help

  • let it be, let it be >>> on backgroung lol

  • i can't believe you re turning motor by cams.

    No way....

Gets to marks throught turning CLOCKWISE the crank pulley.

    starting wrong, ending wrong. sorry.

  • snapon ftw!!!

  • Totally fascinating stuff. After watching this I am 99% sure I will not attempt to do the belt on my Hyundai G4FK twin cam. Great video

  • You absolutely cannot jack on the sump / oil pan 2:37. The pan can deform and the oil strainer will get damaged/restricted. Serious engine damage can result from this all too common practise.

  • @jaitchy its a cast pan so its strong enough , just use a block of wood ,

  • @jeflagoon - It absolutely is not a cast pan on a 6G72 (2 bolt or 4 bolt) on a 3000GT/VR4/GTO. It is pressed steel and is easily damaged by jacking on the bottom of the pan. Have a look on 3si.org.

  • @jaitchy hmm it looks cast to me but ive never worked on one so i couldnt say for sure, either way if your not an idiot and are carefull its fine to lift on the pan ,its common practice, even in some factory service manuals they tell you to do this

  • What will happen to the 2003 Mitsubishi Magna engine if the the timing belt broke. I heard that some engines do not get damaged when the timing belt is broken. This types of engine called free reeving Engines. Please give me link of a website to show that magna engine do not damage when timing belt is broken.

  • Love what you're doing here. Most mechanics are pissed when I post stuff like this, but you're a mechanic... posting stuff like this...

    That's freakin' awesome!

    I don't even see ads!

Take the spark plugs out, it turns much easier. :)

  • nice video

  • on 6:45 you should have put some petrolateum or petroleum jelly on that o-ring for a better seal.

  • This looks like it's just as big a horses ass as a timing belt on a GM 3.4 DOHC motor.

  • No locking tool for the cams?

  • you dont need one, if they move just move them back, take photos of the blet before removal and mark the gears, also you can use zip ties (cable ties) to hold the cams together

  • you should not be turning the cam bolt to line up the marks, use the crank.

  • true

  • @devilslice maybe is backs is fuckd up like mine!

  • @calistofox ? His back is fucked up?

  • @devilslice yes . you are right saying that is wrong turning the cam bolt, and is more difficult for sure (more heavy)!! but if is back is like mine , tottaly fucked up, i understand. because sometimes i do the same job.
