In guitar playing sense, you normally strum a chord by striking downward, but Dave was playing them upside down, so he was striking upward instead.

No, self taught guitarists are not better. Formally taught students tend to have a bigger vocabulary on the instrument and mostly better control. Self taught guitarists are more likely to pick up on bad habits as well.

self taught will most likely pick up the bad part, but most of the time self taught guitar players tend to think outside of scales and play very diffrent compared to taught guitar players who use only scales to show there "skill" you can teach anyone to play fast but if you suck you'll always suck

eh, it really depends. almost every totally HUGE guitarist are self taught, but a lot of the popular ones are some what taught. i think just a couple of lessons are good to get u in the right direction, but really, lessons arent that big of help

Because the notes are going down the closer you are to the head stock and are higher the closer you are to the pick up. thus down = up and up = down.

Dave Mustaine is one of my favourite guitarists.. he actually made me pick up the guitar, but in his lessons he doesn't show really what he can do best.. i mean stuff like spider-chords and picking up side down are cool to know but pick scratches are no big deal really for a almost full lesson.. he should show something about pure rhythm playing, playing odd-time,syncopation n stuff like that..in that point he smokes a lot of shredders in a pipe i would say
