The White House Rat, Socrates, must have been on omega-3s he picked up from eating vegetables in the White House garden because he ran in a straight line right in front of Williard, er, the President, during a news conference. Did PETA investigate what happened to Socrates?
There are lots of studies on omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA that have been published in Journal of the American Medical Association and New England Journal of Medicine. This is a nice video.
Im definitely in support of OMEGA 3s, I use with my own clients, however, the best OIL for DEPRESSION, ironically, is an OMEGA 6 FAT--LECITHIN! Ideally, you combine the 2 kinda fats with LECITHIN as the foundation. Works more times than not.
If you do't agree wihanimal testing then I hope you don't take any medicines when you sick. Most drugs on the market now have been tested on animals, it is a necessity. Or do you want a recurrence of the Thalidomide disaster of the 1960s, where 12,000 babies were born with amelia or phecomelia? Animal testing is an absolute must. It's not ideal but if we want to find new drugs to treat cancers, heart disease etc etc., that are safe in humans then we must test on animals.
There's a large number of biological and chemical similarities between rats and humans. Metabolism of fatty acids is one of them. There are also plenty of studies done with humans. Did you even watch the video? They mentioned the study with human infant IQs. There's also studies done linking low Omega-3 ratios with depression, inflammatory disease, and low muscle mass. The nice thing about rats is that you can control experimental variables more precisely since they have much smaller life spans.
Sure... it would be great if cells could replace animal testing... but science is not there yet. Cells just can't replace animals to show how a drug would get distributed throughout the body and the effects it would have on the different organs. Animals are not perfect either, but still safer than no testing at all.
Yes, farm raised fish can have less omega-3s in their tissues than wild fish, but fortunately fish require more omega-3s than humans so they must have some of these fats in their diet in order to survive.
Farm raised fish do contain a lot of omega 3s, salmon that are farm raised are usually fed foods that are high in omega 3. Plus, since farm raised fish contains a lot more fat than wild type salmon, you actually get way more omega 3 per serving because there is more fat per serving of wild salmon.
This video will contribute to spread the knowledge about the good nutritional characteristics of Omega 3...This video helps to support my beliefs on the good effects of taking Omega 3...I have been taking Omega 3 for more than 15 years every other day.

I think chimpanzees would be a better test subject.

they need to test at least 50 pairs. The IQ of 2 offspring can be totally different. This test is inconclusive.

The scientists tested many pairs of siblings and they ALL came out similarly. Which diet would you want to be raised on?

This only proves that rats get smarter on omega 3, I want to see this test done on humans.
STOP ANIMAL STESTING NOW!

testing medicine on rats has become unnessecary.
You can use artisitc human cells. Way cheaper, and helps to leave the rats alone.

I agree totally agree with you. Also, I still want to see this test done in humans too. Rats are rats and humans are humans, they are NOT the same.
thechaosofmylife 2 years ago
@thechaosofmylife no they're not, but it's a bit unethical to purposely restrict an essential fat of an infant human through adulthood...

@Tristan129 how do you think an 'artisitc human cell' would fare in a swim test...?

@jeeimu
Oh I think they'll be just fine

I take Res-Q 1250 to supplement the diet.

Farm raised fish may not contain omega-3 fats if it is not included in their diet.

Aye, but they also contain an abundance of omega-6 fats. Wild has very little omega-6, and is therefore better for you.
