This story isn't part of the Castlevania canon because Sonia wasn't the 1st Belmont, it was Leon. Second, Trevor was the 1st Belmont to battle Dracula (Leon didn't because he had to face Death at the ending). So, this game and Sonia never existed.

It's funny how most videos on Legends spark an argument between the old-school fans and the IGA worshippers. Personally I couldn't care less about the reasons why the self-appointed CV "god" IGA retconned this game in preference for his own material.

He has shown little respect for what came before him, and he has successfully driven the entire series into the ground with his mediocre recycling and lack of story-telling ability. So I say long live Sonia :)

The main Character is Sonia Belmont right ? I heard that she is the very first Belmont that fight Dracula, but we know that Leon Belmont is the First. Why not say this : Sonia Belmont is the first FEMALE of the Belmont clan....that fight Dracula ? :)

i'm not big on old school Castlevania gb games but this one look like it was great and the story too. Man it must suck that a great character like Sonia was took out of a great franchise. But at least some still acknowledge her.

The ending is remarkably similar to MegaMan X--and I think both series borrow things from each other. Also the undoing of the hair--so Samus Aran on super metroid. "AND YOU"

Even if drac is destroyed there too will be another evil one to take his place--good vs evil is eternal. Individuals and eras die...the fight doesn't.

Still, good enough game for the GB.

Castlevania: Legends is non-canonical, which means that Sonia Belmont is not part of the Castlevania story, and Trevor Belmont is not the son of Sonia and Alucard.

Wasn't Trevor the first Belmont? At least the first vampire-hunting Belmont. Anyway, Sonia's monologue to Dracula is one of the most powerful speculations on good and evil that I've ever heard.

Igarashi retconned this story out of the Castlevania timeline when he took over, along with both 64 titles and COTM. He eventually put those back in, but kept this one out, because he had his own vision for the direction of the series. The chronological beginning is LOI, and Leon Belmont is considered the original Belmont. It's too bad, because Sonia was a cool character and the story in this game made good sense. Maybe Igarashi will bring her back sometime.

I wish gametrailers would do a retrospective on the castlevania series and tell us all the facts about it's creators and stuff. I'd also be interested on what GTs' take on the time-line would be since they've done a good job explaining time-lines in other retrospectives.

This game was the one that drove me into playing all the Castlevanias. I used to hate castlevania back in the day (when playing the original castlevania on the nes i constantly died and it was so frustrating), but when i upgraded my gameboy to the gameboy pocket i decided to give this game a shot, and it was awesome. Awesome story, awesome ending, epic ^^. Sonia rocks :D

The purpose of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence was to explain the story behind Dracula and the Belmont family.

Before the PS2 Castlevania, the story was that Sonia defeated Dracula then later gave birth to Trevor from CV3. The baby in the last scene is most likely him.
