@NOMERCY777 The winner was Takayuki Tsukakoshi, who unfortunately is not so popular due to his large frame and simple fighting style (he is big, heavy and fighting a slow "bulldozer style" with basic punches and lowkicks). He is a champion level fighter (obviously) but he does not generate many spectacular highlight clips, and is not shown in this one -even though he won the tournament it depicts.
Yeah but they only hold it every 4 years so 9 x 4 = 36. They are just trying to piggyback on the name of Sosai and Kyokushin but they said goodbye to that to go there own way. Midori needs to make his mind up. Kyokushin or not.
Midori officially changed the name of WKO shinkyokushin in 2003. He did not found a new organization, just changed the name of a existing old one.
That old organization claims to be the original IKO Kyokushinkaikan founded 1957 but fractured into several factions in 1995 (each faction claiming to be the "real" one). Midori did not say goodbye to anything except the chaotic situation in Japan where 4-5 different organizations use the same identical name.
@kolsyrade You got no idea what you're saying, just repeating the official line. Midori denounced ALL connection with Sosai and Kyokushin in court to keep use of the name Shin Kyokushin. He was told to inform branches to stop using Sosai's pics and dojo kun etc but he won't. He is afraid. It was not just a name change. He had no legal right. He claimed rights but NEVER had any. It didn't fracture. Some guys got together, BS'ed the world and CLAIMED rights to something that was not theirs.
@joopsnoop No. Sorry but You are wrong. It is a common rumor, but it simply didn't happen. He has NOT denounced connections to the old IKO or to kyokushin. Nor has WKO stopped using Oyamas picture.
WKO shinkyokushin changed name after a vote among the branchchiefs of IKO(2). They did not vote to close IKO(2) and found a new group, and such a option has never been proposed. WKO IS IKO2.
As for the fracturing of IKO1 and IKO2. That is not BS.
I'm afraid you don't know what you are talking about.
@kolsyrade You MISS what I am saying sir. IN COURT Midori denounced all connection. He did this to keep his organization. The judge let him keep using the name Shin-Kyokushin BUT the judge said he HAD to stop using Mas Oyama pics. It was Midori's choice to denounce Mas Oyama. This is on court record. Do you understand what that means?? It means THAT is legal. Not what you THINK. But of COURSE he won't tell people like you. He won't tell anyone because it will show he is a liar.
That was just when the old IKO (founded 1957, with the first world tournament held 1975) fractured. Since then many organizations claims (with different rationalizations) to be the original IKO -all using the same numbering for world tournaments.
You may not agree that WKO = the old IKO, but if you think that it is -and they do -the continuation of the World tournament numbering is perfectly logical.
It doesn't matter if I agree or not, right? The LEGAL FACT are that Midori sweared in court to tell the truth and the whole truth as a man and budoka, and said 100% clear to the judge the Shin-Kyokushin is NOTHING to do with Mas Oyama and Kyokushin Karate. He HAD to do these because he had no authority to use the name 'Kyokushin', see? Just bullshitt claim.
But he won't tell YOU or the other student becourse he WANTING them to telling every body that Shin-Kyokushin IS the Sosai's karate and continuance of Kyokushin Karate.
So like every time he must stand to be the man or tell lies like a criminal Midori lies again and bullshitts to students and they keeping think they is still part of Sosai and the Sosai karate when he STEALING everything from Kyokushin. Midori nice big mawashi but small heart, no honesty, or budo spirit, no loyalty for Sosai.
@joopsnoop Can't believe you just said Kenji Midori has a small heart, no honesty, no budo spirit... Probably the best thing a master could wish for is for his student to pursue perfection of the technique that has been handed down and then teach it to others with his own original inputs and his own interpretations in it... Otherwise people would just buy instructional DVDs...
HE learned from Kyokushin, and he has never hidden that fact. If HE is teaching you, then a lot of it comes from Oyama.
@Basketbaka1031 Well believe. He is thief and liar. That has been showed in court. His technique is very good, yes. Maybe top 5 in world. No, best thing for master is for the student to be a good person first. World is full of men with good karate talent who are not nice. Sosai said karate was first a spiritual path, second a technique one. You know, I think Midori WAS good man, and Sosai loved him but after Sosai died he became bad because of influence of sempai and money.
The Shinkyokushin 9th World open (as in no weightclasses) tournament was held October 13th & 14th, 2007.
It is held every 4 years, with the world weight category cup also held every 4 years so that there is a major world level competition every 2 years.
The world tournament, shown here, is always held in Tokyo, Japan, but the world cup is moved around to different countries every time. This year it was held in Russia.
Semmy schilt is a giant and is hard to fight because of his size and power but he is slow and has no sideways movement doesnt like going backwards and has taken shots on the jaw and just managed to carry on and his main punchig weapons his left jab and right cross because rules would be useless so he would lose too and Budokai is a split from Kyokushin Kai
Yeah right!!! He first started in karate but there is no money in it so he left. It is wishfull thinking from my part that he would fight for nothing in the long lost art of karate.
Budokai is Kyokushin, judo and all around fighting!!! They have three diferent degrees.( belt grading form)
Jon Bluming founder of Budokai was a judo legend , but because of certain disagreement with the judo people in Holland he went to train with Mastatsu Oyama a Korean
( Japanese) karate legend. Jon Bluming brought Kyokushin to Holland.
Yeah I new that and still believe Ewerton Teixeira would win under Kayokushin Kai rules hopefully He tries K1 and gets good boxing and Muay Thai trainers if He does go to K1 osu
intenational budokai is a umbrella organisation (a organization which other groups join for cooperation), where a one of the groups are kyokushin budo kai run by Bluming.
Semmy belongs in ashihara international (run by Dave Jonkers), another part of budo kai.
Semmy has only trained with Bluming at a few camps, and he has never trained kyokushin. Ashihara is a kyokushin offshot, though.
Ewerton Teixeira the IKO1 Champion is big fast and powerful and would win in a fair Kyokushin fullcontact Tournament against all comers and did you notice that there were no Japanese fighters in the top seven placings unheard of in all the Kyokyshin factions except the IFK which is European.
Is there any particular reason you believe this? or is it just your pride and loyalty to your organization talking?
There are a LOT of good fighters in the kyokushin factions you listed, and put together the number of fighters is several times higher that the number of IKO1 fighters.
The real truth is that until the kyokushin organizations finally learn to overlook the politics, and allow unified tournaments, we will not know which group has the best fighters.
This is so crazy, excuse me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that if they all protected their heads a little more it would be better. That's the way we always learned it and our athletes did well in this competition
i think wee all agree that shinkyokushin and kyokushin is poweful. it is all from oyama`s way of fighting. cool too see ashiara and daido juko kundo too. all baced on oyamas fighting style... Osu everybody
IKO1 is larger, but they seem to put the focus on developing their top guys into kickboxers. While they have some very, VERY, strong fighters, their knockdown karate seems not to be evolving.
IKO2/WKO is smaller, but is focusing on developing and improving knockdown karate fighting. As a result I think they have the better knockdown karate fighters today.
I would LOVE seeing the top IKO1 guys going up against the top IKO2/WKO (and all the others) top fighters to see how they really compares.
@kolsyrade i dunno. maybe this is just one bad highlight reel but apparently nobody in this vid has much respect for the opponent. they all seem to gloat post-match lol. and how about the low percentage kicks thrown every other fight? all these wheel kicks make it look like there's not much strategy. the uploader probably enjoys that kind of kick, but i personally don't. can't use that anywhere outside of competition. i'm sure in reality shinkyokushin and kyokushin are pretty much identical.
@kyokushinkevin not just the president. master shokei are the president in a illegal way, there has been a big sue over him as a president, if you need more information, contact me
the difference is purely political and in and in oprganizartion.
When the founder of kyokushin died i 1994, the kyokushin organization fragmented into several groups all claiming to be the original one, and only fighting about who they thought should be the leaders.
Shin-kyokushin later made a minor change (adding a "shin"="new" in front of their name) since there was way too many organizations using the original names -which caused big confusion and troubles everywhere.
That, and the fact tht that IKO1 moved to registered the original kanji and logo to their organisation, causing IKO2 or WKO to change their kanji and logo when court proceedings commenced. The judgement did not rule in favour of IKO1 and all intellectual property of Oyama belongs to his family.
IKO1´s (or rather Mr. Matsui personally) registration of the copyrights stopped IKO2 from using names&symbols in advertizing, but they were never forced by anyone. Even after IKO1 lost and the copyrights by default went to the Oyama family after the will was declared invalid, there are still several groups using the IKO and K. names & symbol. The confusion is still there, and will still be for years to come. But now WKO/IKO2 has their own name, symbol and profile.

@R2Dancer Shinkyokushin is written as "new kyokushin" The "shin" at the beginning means "new" whereas the "shin" at the end means "truth" so although they are the same sound it means different things. Hence shin kyokushin doesnt mean real truth really, it means the new kyokushin
Yes, but they may not have had much material to work with. I dont know how much of the ladies fights was shown on japanese TV.
I am more surprised why they didnt show more of Tsukakoshi who won the tournament -but then he didnt use the most spectacular way to win (only lots and LOTS of lowkicks)
this is a good point for tsukakoshi i were surprise too.... yes he did a lots of lowkicks but eventually this works ;) and for the girls i think that even if they odont have a lot of material, they propably have at least one fight... its been part of the 9th world championship too and all the girls did a good job
as I understand it, they are discussing a rule change that would allow you to attack a opponent who tries any sacrificial kick (a kick that will cause you to fall unprotected on the floor even if it succeeds) that fails. Attacking them on the ground with a controlled punch/kick for a wazari (half point) very much like if you did a throw on them (not tht wazari after a throw are common, but they are possible).
yeah it hurts so much, it's insane. But it is a great way to get the fighter down and since they are in more pain it will be harder for them to go to the head
Kyokushin is seriously hardcore...

Karate is encouraging because so much physical strength as the spiritual superiority can
be disclosed. This is Shinkyokushin Karate, a martial art. The ideology of Karate
puts emphasis on family and circle of friends. In other words, the essence of spirit is
tilt your head, raise your eyes, close your lips and open your mind, serve the other
end with humility as a starting point

Yes, but they may not have had much material to work with. I dont know how much of the ladies fights was shown on japanese TV.
I am more surprised why they didnt show more of Tsukakoshi who won the tournament -but then he didnt use the most spectacular way to win (only lots and LOTS of lowkicks)

this is a good point for tsukakoshi i were surprise too.... yes he did a lots of lowkicks but eventually this works ;) and for the girls i think that even if they odont have a lot of material, they propably have at least one fight... its been part of the 9th world championship too and all the girls did a good job

kks is a martial art in the very meaning of the term. it really is the ultimate truth.
about the tournament, i think fighters who execute a rollkick and doesnt achieve a knockout with it should be disqualified.

as I understand it, they are discussing a rule change that would allow you to attack a opponent who tries any sacrificial kick (a kick that will cause you to fall unprotected on the floor even if it succeeds) that fails. Attacking them on the ground with a controlled punch/kick for a wazari (half point) very much like if you did a throw on them (not tht wazari after a throw are common, but they are possible).

that would be fair, hope they change it.

and they do a lot of those stupid ass heel kicks to the thigh
BelguteiFly 4 years ago
They look stupid, but it hurt like h*ll to be hit with one.
They dont cause leg KO´s, but they most definitely slow a opponent down.
kolsyrade 4 years ago
what are you talking about! these kicks are beautiful and trust me when you are hit bye this kick you cry and stay on the floor
louk789456123 4 years ago
yeah it hurts so much, it's insane. But it is a great way to get the fighter down and since they are in more pain it will be harder for them to go to the head
