@shakysyxx Yes this will work for recording anything with composite or S-Video. A decent capture card for this is the Dazzle DVC 100. Pretty much the same as the 170 he used in the video

I have a problem. I have a Dazzle DVC 80, and when I plug everything in, and then plug the Dazzle into my computer, it shows that there is a new hardware connected, but when i try adn install it it says Cannot Install. Anyone know why? Is it just because i don't have Pinnacle Studio?

@haloCombatEvolved100 Your dazzle package should come with a DVD that you need to put in your computer. Once you finished that, you will have Pinnacle Studio 12.

After that, try putting it in.

If that doesn't work, make sure you have all the chords in the right places, and make sure the USB plug is in the right female plug.

So I have everything set up exactly as Seamus does for the S-video cable setup and pinnacle studios 12 says that an valid input signal can not be found. So I changed my settings to S-video and still nothing any help? I have no clue if its because im using 2 different s-video cables ones from radioshack ones from zenag or if my dazzle is just being hard to get along with. If it helps I had the same cables at one point and it worked.

You don't need an S-video cable. S-video cables are a higher quality, but just your standard Yellow, Red, White phono cable works just as well. If you use S-video cables, then you'll need a capture card that can use s-video, and a splitter just made for s-cables. However, Dazzle capture cards can use s-video cables no problem.

@fktcd If you plug it all in correctly you should be able to. Just open up windows movie maker or the editing software disk that comes with the dazzle, and go to capture video. Once the screen shows up, your good. Then you can record and yada yada yada

GUYS! I have one of the new models, and you don't have to use splitters at all. You plug the yellow, white, and red in the back of your TV and your done! Thumbs up so everyone knows about this! (I usually don't go asking for thumbs up, but this is kind of important.)

if you have hdmi cables you can plug the hd (green, blue, and red) cables into your tv and then plug your composite cables into the dazzle. this is so you can play in hd if you use a standard dazzle recorder. you just need to have an alternate audio source such as a turtle beach headset.

I think you only need splitters for HD gaming if your dazzle is and HD recorder.. but some dazzle's only record in SD Standard Definition so you don't need splitters for them.

i just got a dazzle card and it came with pinnacle studios 14, i decided to record bioshock 2 for my first playthrough, but when i recorded it, there were so many frames dropped that i just wasted an hour recording. now, i think its my computer cuz i tried it on a ps3 with the same laptop, and it still lagged. do you have any advice for me? plz tell

Not arguing against what works for ya, but the RCA connectors (the first part w/ the splitters) looks kinda backwards.. I would think that where you plugged in the xbox & the TV cables would be combined into one into the Dazzle. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Is the splitter setup and the s-video setup two separate approaches to capturing video - in other words, can I use just the s-video and dazzle or viseversa with just the splitters and dazzle? or are they both mandatory? thank you in advance

Yes, you only need the the splitter cables if you do the first (cheaper) approach. If you did the S-Video approach, you'd have the VDA.

it's a free theme... every now and again you'll see an add on the dashboard... just look around and sometimes you'll see a dr. pepper ad... so click on it and you'll come to a screen that asks what you wanna download (theme, pictures, more)
