owner and driver is turbo joe morgan and the motor is a 2.3l pinto motor built by eslinger. we (i was crew chief and in the video) ended up running 8.30s. it was pretty cool watching that old video from back in the day turbojoe.com has more info on the car.

And nope i dont want to buy an import, Some of the older Ford Escort Wagons with the 1.9liter engine are legendary high milers with many going over 300,000 miles on the odometer, I wanted a Ford Focus Wagon but they only made them for 3 or so years then i guess sales were slow because during those years SUV's were all the rage and they stopped producing the wagon... grrr. The wagons are great for tail-gate parties, bring it back, the public should push Ford to bring the wagon back! its awesome:)

Now no one is currently making a small wagon, I like cars with some cargo space but i dont want a gas guzzling SUV or MiniVan, I wanted a small Ford Focus Wagon and they discontinued it ARRRRGG!!
the engine is based off of the 2.3 SOHC out of a pinto/mustang, isnt even the focus engine. when this engine was designed hondas could barely do a 1 minute pass.
big deal - the day imports are in the 4s (domestics already are) you'll be able to say something. The bottom line is that there may only be a handful of street Hondas running under 9.40 - so where ever that focus runs on the street a Honda will be sniffing blue oval exhaust.

Honda killer haha what a joke, there much faster hondas that this 9.4 second car. Theres a civic that is a sub 7 second car, 841whp del sol that is low 8's.

But internals on a standard K22 or B18 can only with hold like... 400hp, then you got to jump in and fish all that shit out and replace it with forged stuff. STOCK, the 2.3 duratec can hold 550hp. Plus, if you get a Cosworth motor, you can SAFTLY push 800+. Honda's can get fast, but there too easy to do. If foci's were as easy to build as Honda's, everyone would put the stereotype on foci's. Go play with your toy, we'll take care of the rest
There's a K24 and K20 but no K22. There's an H22 but even those have to be sleeved to make serious HP. I actually know a guy here in KC that has a built H22 turbo that puts down over 600hp to the wrong wheels : P
Also these old 2.3 turbo motors are very stout, they used them in the SVO mustang and the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and can handle a lot of boost.
One more thing a 2.3 duratec with a FRPP head and some cams can make a lot of HP N/A, honda's arent the only players in the 4cyl game.
i guess there is a replacement for displacement
