Hey Junk, why do you use the first name of "postpunk". if you came afterwards, no need to be a crybaby and invent stupid asinine labels like "postpunk" beside PIL is Not "post" anything, they are punk and always have been, way before label inventors arrived on the scene. Peace!
I'm saying that I have developed a double chin. I have heard that there is really safe and inexpensive surgery available to sort it out. I think that I will take the leap.
The Song is "Save Us"...there was no offical video for Total Erasure, but there is a great 30 min BBC show with Philip Jap all performance and videos that includes it... Which was the prize for winning the David Essex Showcase.
Two of the David Essex Showcase performances are on you tube.
The Director of the Save Us Video was David Mallet, who also did Ashes to Ashes for Bowie among many other things...it was made in 1 day back in 1982.
that Philip Jap video and song is excellant. As someone who was greatly disappointed there was no second album it's quite hopeful and optimistic to think he is still out there with unreleased songs. Re-issue of his A&M album plus b-sides on cd for the first time is both due and overdue.
The track was called 'Save Us' not Total Erasure as the guy said. Philip is alive and well I'm glad to say and one of Youtube's members is going to ask him if he'll make a comment to his fans after almost 25 years. A great talent, he's still writing music, shame he disappeared into obscurity !!
I have Second Edition and the song is titled Swan Lake. I also have their greatest hits and the song is titled Death Disco. Slightly different mixes though.
first they released it as the single Death Disco and then they remixed it and added some synthesizers and renamed it Swan Lake (recognising the opera of the same name which's lead piece has a similar melody to keith's guitar line in this song) and added it to the tracklist of Metal Box/Second Edition

Are you sure there was no video for Total Erasure? I recall hearing about a Prisoner-themed promo set in Portmeirion? :-/
