He sings with an air of such genuine sorrow and dispair, he may not have had as beautiful a voice as Gigli's or di Stefano's and perhaps he omitted the high note at the end, but in the end all that does not matter. The manner in which he vocally delivered was so unique and special, no other singer could do it quite like him. That is why his singing is so enjoyable to listen to.
Schipa always caracteriz à ³ for The lightness and slightly acute of his voice but they are compensated by the beauty of the tone and the interpretive wealthrichness
Yes! I was just reading that timbre and legato are the qualities in a voice that appeal to the emotions. And as you said, Schippa's delivery was unique as well. His voice had a sweetness and elegance that set him apart, I think.
