So they called up Intamin.Intamin looked at their net income, landscaping, and proposals and decided that a rocket coaster with a giant Top-Hat was the way to go. From their, the company already had the basic layout for a Strata top hat, so they simply made it bigger. Both SF managers and Intamin engineers thought simply a top hat looked bad. The engineers tried putting three hills...
To explain to the General Population how this ride was, they explained it as basically a larger version of TTD. In their minds, they were thinking of the top hat, the downward twist, the method of launch etc etc.
In our minds (ex. yours) we thought of it as a giant copycat. And yes, 36 feet is a lot of feet. Can you even touch 10 feet? I bet not.

@1ynnf isn't ttd the worlds first strata coaster and Kingda ka copied... also its not just about the ride its about Adrenaline. you hear the big Dragster engine fire up and that is what gets the heart pumping. plus the theme of the ride makes all the sense in the world. i have rode it 9 times and have never felt uncomfortable on the ride or anything. the fastest they have gotten it to go 128 and that was with a light car.

@jerseymelvin They couldn't get the pneumatics to work properly, they never got it to reach top speed, leaving Kingda Ka with the title as the fastest. They're reopening this year and they say it will be able to reach top speed, but as of now it doesn't have any records

@mikespeed20082 I know. While I don't blame S&S (the manufacturer of the ride), I wish they would've been more careful to keep the accident from happening. Still, at least the coaster at Ferrari World will go faster.
The coaster uses a compressed air launch, in which compressed air forces a piston down a long tube. The piston has a long cable attached to it. As the piston goes down the tube, it pulls a catchcar. The catchcar connects to the train and pulls it down the launch track. An air tank was overpressurized one day during a test (the tank had to be at a very high pressure in order to launch the train to 135mph) and ruptured. 7 people were injured and many glass windows nearby were broken.
It is the F1 coaster that will be in Abu Dhabi. It will be in the new park called Ferrari world. I heard the opening day will be sometime in 2010. It looks really fun! :)

@jerseymelvin They couldn't get the pneumatics to work properly, they never got it to reach top speed, leaving Kingda Ka with the title as the fastest. They're reopening this year and they say it will be able to reach top speed, but as of now it doesn't have any records

This " rollercoaster" is crap it launches you to 134 mph and then before it even leaves the launch track it slows down to like 85! That's NOTHING compared to KINGDA KA!!

WELL IF U MUST KNOW (n its apparent that you guys do since everyone keep compareing this to king da ka), this was not made to even be considered as a roller coster. It was made so race fans can see what its like to travel the same speeds on the race track.

@animalpolice The King is the Dragster at Cedar Point. Six Flags are a bunch of pussies witht he shoulder harnesses compared to Cedar Points lap bar. Six Flag like all amusment parks are pussies! If you want to make a statement make it a big deal like Cedar Point does. We break barriers NOT just a few feet like all other parks do or just a little more speed. If they would have made it 500 feet or more THAN I WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPRESSED! Everyone copies Cedar Point because Cedar Point is the best!

@animalpolice The only park that can even say that is close to original was Kings Island now owned by Cedar Point. They tried to make a wooden roller coaster with a loop. It was fine just one person bitched about it and the ride wasnt that bad. They made world class wooden roller coasters and stuck out on them. Any other park simply copies what Cedar Point does and does just a little more instead of smashing the record like Cedar Point does!

this is probably the most false coaster on this planet. it starts fast but then slows down HALFWAY! if this was really going 134 mph, it would STAY at that speed, the coaster would be longer and higher. i do not believe this coaster is the fastest no matter what people claim. ive read reviews saying it didnt even match that speed. more like around 85 10 100 mph TOPS! i still believe kingda ka is STILL the TALLEST and FASTEST coaster on this planet. it seems to me this place just wanted a record.

The coaster uses a compressed air launch, in which compressed air forces a piston down a long tube. The piston has a long cable attached to it. As the piston goes down the tube, it pulls a catchcar. The catchcar connects to the train and pulls it down the launch track. An air tank was overpressurized one day during a test (the tank had to be at a very high pressure in order to launch the train to 135mph) and ruptured. 7 people were injured and many glass windows nearby were broken.

It is the F1 coaster that will be in Abu Dhabi. It will be in the new park called Ferrari world. I heard the opening day will be sometime in 2010. It looks really fun! :)
