  • Pretty good video! I'd like to hear this in better quality!

  • @MamaMiaPianist

Thank you. =) I will upload a better quality one once I get an audio cable or two so I can go direct-in with the audio, or actually... My new DVR ("digital voice recorder"), specifically an Olympus WS-700M for reference (like if anyone wanted to read about it or anything), captures the keyboard in much better quality.

So what I COULD do in the meantime, is record with the DVR simultaneously, then sync the audio track from the DVR with the (muted) vid track in iMovie.

  • @tehmikuji

Regarding the DVR-for-recording-the-audio part, just a heads-up: It's not direct-in either obviously, and though it records in surprisingly good quality for something that weighs about 1/5th a pound, it's not like if I set up both of my $300 condenser mics with my mixer and put THAT recording onto the vids. (I can't use those things right now; My sound card was how I was plugging the mixer in, and it's for PC, but now I'm using a MacBook Pro, so.. yeah.

I'll get new gear later on.

  • @tehmikuji

Sorry for the multiple comments (I ran out of room). To clarify, I'm just saying that the audio quality should be quite a bit BETTER than the MacBook's mic... but it still won't be professional quality... It might be lacking some bass and/or some treble, won't sound as "present" as a professional piano recording (or direct-in from the keyboard).

But it should be better. I'm gonna go ahead and try that out right now, so expect a new upload of something soon!

  • @tehmikuji Looking forward to it!

    Ps. I am indeed stubbornXD

  • @MamaMiaPianist

Hehe, props for being able to admit being stubborn. I can be extremely stubborn at times myself too.

I think most people are probably a bit stubborn at least sometimes...

  • @MamaMiaPianist

P.S. You may have already noticed the upload on this channel of the new, HQ version of me playing this (using the DVR to record the audio and all that), but if you wanna keep track of me, so to speak, I just created a new channel (to which I re-up'd the Agitha's Castle vid again so it could have 1 vid) that I'm moving to (for the most part). It's @ youtube dot com slash users slash msmartelpiano .

I'll be making a little announcement vid pointing to the new channel now-ish.

  • This is really awesome. Do you have the sheet music? and if you do could you send it to me?

  • This shit sounds great. Well played.

  • Awsome guy!! Can you share the sheet of that beautiful theme? :D

  • @Eleochess I'll get right on it after I'm done moving and have regular access to a computer again. Old one's dying.

  • @tehmikuji ok =) thx. Don't keep me waiting too long xD! Hope I'll play it as well as you do (hope my english is well written xD!)

  • @Eleochess its on herball cell!

  • Extrememly well done! You did great! I wish I could do it.....

  • AWESOMe ive been practicing this but i cant even play with the right hand haha

  • Just for the record.. I do play the video game themes I play by ear, HOWEVER, at least half of the time if not more, I just eventually play/learn from recollection after having played the game / heard the piece many times, in other words, most of the time I don't spend lengthy time studying every single note.

This led to my playing of the classic Fairy Fountain / Game Select screen about 50% wrong. I had the RH fine, but the left hand I was doing was a.. (character limit approaching, tbc)...

  • ..fabricated and simple pattern, that harmonically fit the tune, but my rendition of the theme lacked all the nuances of what the accompaniment does. It varies, and, it makes some big jumps.

I recently studied / listened to the theme much more carefully and with scrutiny. The real version is much harder to play, but I've just now got it up to speed.

You can expect an upload of it at some point, however, there are already plenty of people on Youtube playing it right..

  • Are you referring to the Zelda's-Lullabye-esque left hand part in the B section?

Or the up and down (c F c f) thing I sneak in the 4th/3rd to last measures with the right and left hand?

A simplified version could be arranged theoretically..

  • I've ALWAYS wanted to play this song, but my hands are toooooo small to reach for the octive higher parts, ya know. It hurts my hand :'(

    Thanks for the vid!

  • @maddogz100 for the record, my comment starting with "Are you referring to" was meant in reply to maddogz100, but I guess I forgot to keep the @maddogz100 and it looks like it's arranging the comments in new and crazy ways never before seen on Youtube. oogety boogety! ok i'm gonna shut up now.
