Hey Nedak. I knew I knew you from some other tool stuff. I went through all of my tool playlist earlier, and saw the name. Thanks for all the uploads!
there wasnt a feud between them, just that TOOL was heading through a less metal sound than what Paul was into, as you could probably tell with TOOL not being Metal and Paul always rocking out in concerts.
It's hard to imagine a band in which all of the members are in total agreement about what sounds the best. I think it's completely understandable that somebody would end up leaving the band for that reason.
julz1278 i agree with you 100%... I feel that they have a greater goal than just puttin out music for us to cattle to like sheep (although we do to some extent :P). They are all just very conscious of everyone else's opinions and ideas. If anything I think this group will correlate till the end of Tool's days much because they all seem to have that same drive for AWARENESS!!! :D
I have a version of this song with Zach dela Rocha from rage doing the Rollins part. to bad its not on you tube. Find it and download it, it is bad ass
Ahhh. Okay. I thought he left during the recording process of one of the two albums released in the 90's (Opiate is an ep, and not a full album to me)
Well, from what I understand he was slow, and took way to long to come up with material, and recording would've been longer with him than without him.But which songs did he do on Ænima?
He did Pushit, Aenema, Stinkfist, and Eulogy he had those all written by late 1994/early 1995 he wasnt slow at all considering he wrote a majority of the songs on Aenima by early 1995 and Aenima was released in October 1996. So if you think of it Justin slowed down the process.
A long time ago Adam said that Justin came up with a lot of the riffs on Aenima. Basically showed up with them worked out in his head in the beginning stages of that album. I don't know if Paul had anything to do with Aenima at all.
These are the original lyrics? Cuz i noticed a few differences from the one I am used to hearing... Did he he just say, using my imperfections as weapons?! This is a great version!
I'm naked and fearless... And my fear is NAKED!

Maynard kind of sounds like Jim Morrison during the part Henry Rollins ended up doing.

way better than the original, imo. I hear so much more emotiom here.
Plus the screams are just amazing. I get a huge rush like, everytime I hear it. I wish I could do that.
And of course, no henry rollins. Black flag is cool, but he should NOT be speaking in tool songs...pus his part sounds kinda stupid at the end.
Anyway Im so in love with this version. Im trying to download it.

RoyalAnarchist 2 years ago
paul made undertow and opiate what they were, but justin was a much better replacement.

@yyyuuuguppy I agree holmes...but you would have never known a difference had Paul not quit.

@RoyalAnarchist I'm no expert but I've seen Justin play live several times and he can hold his own.

From what i hear The record company is to blame for that, not Justin. I remember reading that Paul never got off his feet after Tool.
juxtapositioning 4 years ago
Paul only wrote the songs. none of his playing is on Aenima. Its all justin.
thejohnofsteel 3 years ago

Paul wrote stink fist, eulogy, pushit, and aenema. None of his actual playing is on the record. Justin figured out the parts from the scrath demos.
thejohnofsteel 3 years ago
u talking about paul? he left cuz he wanted to pursue another project. He dint get pressured to leave or was forced to leave, he just wanted 2.
xxxXT00LXxxx 4 years ago
All of those projects went sour after one album or so I remember. He was a great bassist when he was in Tool, unfortunately not great enough.
juxtapositioning 4 years ago
I heard he left because he wanted Tool to go a more pop-sounding route, but his bandmates did'nt agree
nips73 3 years ago
he wasn't digging how progressive they were getting.
thejohnofsteel 3 years ago
no i think paul wanted to get more pop
and the other guys didnt want that
boredsun 3 years ago
no paul wanted an even more experimental tone
trahne 3 years ago
That can't be true. Look at APC. That's not anywhere near pop. Can't be Maynard that wanted the pop sound.
Andragon90 3 years ago
Pual wanted a more metal sound, hence all his jumping up and down during their concerts, old ones that is
