  • aww man i see this all the time great job but ur using the wrong tuning but other than that very nice. :)

  • nice work bro...this is tougher then people realize

  • It's a pretty good performance. You're good at hammer-ons, but your timing and dynamics are off. Those are what make a song musical, thus making a guitar player a musician and not some I-only-play-chords kinda guy. I believe your tuning is wrong, Raphibing. The tuning I believe is (from low E to high E) EBC#G#BD#. When Kaki King does the arpeggio with all 6 strings, she does it in open position, no fretting involved. And next time, please do a full cover. Cheers. :)

  • Casanda- shut up! stop complaining and just go find a different cover that suits your 'standards'. Ugh I really hate people like you.

It was a fantastic cover, I love this song :)

    xx

  • no, Casander is right. This was just a bunch of notes strung together really. And though it may be hard for people to hear it, this is the reality of the music world.

One thing I would say though, is not everyone is trying to be a professional guitarist. Some people just play for their own enjoyment. In which case, Casander's comments are maybe a little unnecessary.

Acoustic, your type of standards are the reason the world is in love with (generally talent-less, over-produced) pop music.

  • Actually, being a big fan of Kaki King, as well as other innovative guitarists. I will say you're idea of "a bunch of notes strung together" really limits your authority on the subject considering all music is, in fact, notes strung together.

He does a very good job. His timing is loose, but not unnatural. His dynamics are light, but then again his recording capabilities aren't geared toward picking up those fine changes in dynamics.

  • This is one of Kaki's harder songs mainly because it is so delicate, the dynamics and loose tempo make it a song you have to feel to play. And he does a very good job.

And I encourage all players to use whatever works for them. Whether the original is arpeggio'd open or fretted, use what is comfortable. Some of the greats did/do just that: Sergio, Ross, Hedges.

  • You obviously don't understand music that well. Loose tempo? Are you referring to rubato, or the use of ritards?

Also, while being comfortable might be convenient, a true musician's first priority is musicality and tone. If the colour of the sound is more desirable when fretted, then you should play it that way. I don't believe this person is playing that way for that reason, they are probably just uninformed, which is why Cassander just told him.

i don't think it's that bad of a cover though.

  • You clearly have a very poor understanding if you believe music is just notes strung together. There's the physical aspects of form, structure, harmony, etc. that are necessary in order to make actual music, as opposed to "notes strung together".

There is also the emotional side of music, which is really what separates music from a string of notes. Emotion is shown through phrasing, dynamics, and rhythmic changes.

  • what tuning are you in? mine is E, B, C sharp, G sharp, B, D sharp.

  • lukeashmoore you are correct

  • you loook soooo much like eric forman from that 70s show

    nice cover!

  • I wonder how kaki plays it.. I imagine lots of tapping.

  • na, i saw her live, its prettymuch all fingerpicking

  • Thanks man! I've been wanting to learn a kaki song for awhile and this is one of my favorites. Thanks for the tab link too. And you play it well.

  • Whats that for a tuning?

  • i tuned my guitar E B C# G# B D - you can play the first 'riff thing' with all open strings.

  • Not bad at all. Really, his only problem was that I don't think he had enough confidence in his ability to play it yet. A little more confidence could really have made this thing sing. So I look forward to seeing more of this guy's stuff.

  • Pretty good. I opened this video thinking "let's watch a video of someone destroying one of my favourite songs" but you did really good! Keep it up.

  • what did you tune your guitar to??

I found a really weird tuning, and it sounds exactly like the song

  • nice job !

    but Kaki does it effortless

  • hey pretty cool!

  • franchement très bien et pis cé pas tt simple à jouer! t'as vraiment choppé un bon niveau mec!
