  • nice vid

  • After more than a year away from homebrewing, I am finally back at it again and watching this as a refresher course.

  • Wheres part 4 of this series?

  • Golden promise :) Im doing an American style pale ale and live in Scotland, seems like you sorta doing the opposite :)

  • USE A DRILLLLLL!!!!!!

  • @chrisknight000 how did you make your mash tun? i want to get into all grain but the mash tun is the only probelm

  • @Turnbomb77 Cooler, stainless ball valve cooler kit, CPVC tubing, hack saw.

  • Funny face at :28 LOL Drink em if you got em

  • Hey, used your recipe. My family is in town visiting and the 5 gallons was gone in a week!! I am definantly making it again!!

  • why do you use rice and corn?

  • I homebrew and I'm making the leap to All-Grain next brew. You play fugazi, you have my attention.

  • The best AG video series that I've seen on youtube. Excellent work, Chris.

  • Hey man, Great video production and quality instructional information too. If I had 60,000 views I'd sell a full length DVD for $9.95. I personally would buy it. "All Grain Home Brewing (1-8)" taught me how to brew.

  • if you get bored... check out my all grain series.. Ty...

  • What is the fitting you used to connect your inner pvc run off piping to your valve on your latuer tun? Love the vids by the way..I am going to start kegging soon and all grain is right around the corner...

  • Why does the word "Ghetto" mean not white? Ghetto is a pretty universal term with a lot of meanings. Like in WWII they put jews in ghettos.

    You're ghetto, chill.

  • Again, pick on people you're likely to know about: white people!

In American parlance, the word "ghetto" has nothing to do with jews (sic) in ghettos.

You know it and I know it, hick!

  • @vertexclimber "Ghetto" in these parts generally refers to a device or method that is "rigged" or made to work with limited resources.

  • take the handle off the crank and attach a hand drill. Now that's Ghetto!

  • @billybobjimjoejacksn I just did that for the 1st time 2 weekends ago. I tried to control the drill as slowly/evenly as possible. Much better. lol I'm getting lazy in my old days.

  • @chrisknight000 Work smarter not harder.

  • what's a kit like that cost?

  • Chris, you are the man! I have extract brewed 7 times and wanted more of a challenge. Watched your 8 part videos twice over. Used what I had seen on your vids to get a basic knowledge. Then spent hours researching and compiling info on A.G. Got the cooler mash tun. Though I have to say, you and I need to upgrade to stainless steel mash tuns. i showed my friend and he is worried about heating the plastic over time will leach certain chemicals into the beer. Any thoughts on that. Thanks again!!!!

  • Perhaps you you share your expertise with craigtube. That clown has been brewing with kits for 20 years and he's proud.

  • @nige4958 That "clown" has more talent and knowledge than probably your whole family basing this on how you carry on and bash people for not being "like you" You weren't "learned" right for sure....frankly, I'm glad there are many UNLIKE you ! ;)

  • @ACTeslaMachineDC Come on man, I don't bash anyone. I'm into satire. The people like PEIMiniBoob and CraigBoob are well deserving of some input. CraigBoob will go to great lengths to make a lovely chicken stock, but he'll shit all over the brewing arts with his concoctions. Explain that one to me.

  • I knew i found the perfect set of brewing vids the minute i heard the Fugazi tune at the beginning, hell ya!

  • LOL. Chris, you crack me up. You gotta be high during this video. I know I am.

  • if you take off the handle and chuck your drill up to it. you can crush 60.lbs a crain in an hour

  • i like to mill over my mash tun so i can keep all that good dust.

  • Thank you for posting this video series! I have watched this series many times and it has helped me out very much. I am now on my 5th batch of all grain.

  • You had me at Fugazi. Happy brewing!

  • Great job man. Looks tasty!

Why dont you attach a cordless drill to the handle shaft of your grain mill?

    Its perfectly easy and safe.

  • Nice video, I like your barley crusher!

Unfortunately, here in the UK we have a hard time getting hold of barley in customised weights, it normally comes in 0.5kg and 3kg bags.

  • when are you gonna brew your next batch. Good video for learning..I wanna go all grain already after only 1 batch of extract

  • where do you buy your supplies?

  • 1:57- Chris, you are ghetto.

  • fine barley crusher, chris. i'm ag b/c of this vid

  • @Nospherith Im staying with my CAN because of it...too much hassle for what I can get in 20 minutes lol

  • What is the purpose of the 2nd fermentor, do you add anything when you do it or just rack it? And when do you it. Also, your videos are very well done and to the point, you know your shit. Maybe one day I'll grow some nuts and go all grain, and quit suckling the malt extract teet.

  • Siphon the Batch - into a sanitized secondary - to lift Brewing Wort off the gunk at the Bottom. The lower Traub includes spent grains and proteins that can cause OFF flavors in your Beer the longer they sit. If a Prinary Fermenter has a Cone and Valve bottom, the gunk can be drawn off the bottom, leaving the Wort in the same tank to continue fermenting. if Racking from the Top,do it slow enough not to disturb the gunky bottom.

  • You can add float small amount of bagged Aroma Hops in the Secondary to improve both aroma and flavor. That's called Dry Hopping.

  • hey Chris, Why dont you use a cordless drill

  • Hi! ME AND YOU HAVE THE SAME LAST NAME!

but anyways...this has inspired me to make all grain beer...

    Thanks Chris...

  • Thanks Chris for the great videos. Today I did my first all grain, an Oatmeal Stout and made sure to watch your videos before I started, to make sure I didnt miss anything! You really truly inspired me to go all grain and I will never do an extract again! Thanx buddy! Everything went smoothly!

  • Ciao i'm italian homebrewing........thanks to all good luck....Paolo.

  • whats the name of the song in the beginning?

  • What program or programs do u use on the laptop for brewing? Or which ones do u recommend? Thanks for the great videos!

  • I use promash.

  • @chrisknight000 this message is for bm5447 and you chris. First off, thanks for the video's. If you have a Mac(Apple) Beer Alchemy puts out a great product. I am doing my first all grain next weekend to celebrate Assassin's Creed Brotherhood release. Thanks to your video's the process will be a lot easier. Diggin' the basement by the way...

  • @chrisknight000 Really liked this video - haven't seen the others yet but we seem to have a few things in common.....good beer and MGBs :)) I'm new to brewing but you make it look quite easy - I may have a few questions to ask you in the near future!!

  • @chrisknight000 Have you tried any gluten free beer brewing?. I made banana honey millet beer, it tastes great, and has the same alcohol content if not more! ,and its way easier to digest .

  • I love these videos. I never seriously considered going all grain until after watching your videos. One question, what do you use for hops in this recipe, in case I wanted to duplicate it?

  • This is the way I brew this beer now:

8 pounds Golden Promise 2 row

    2 pounds flaked maize

    .25 pounds honey malt

    .25 pounds biscuit malt

1 oz. Willamette Hops (60 min)

1 oz. Mt Hood Hops (10 min)

Wyeast 1056 starter on a stir plate. Chill, decant, pitch.

    MASH AT 151 degrees.

Ferment in chiller at 62 degrees for primary & secondary

  • I'm slowly converting over to AG. I really like the production quality of your vids. Kudos!

  • To Cool Bro's. The toughest part of brewin' is all my Bud's drinking it before I get some!!!

  • No shit..When I go to bottle after fermentation is just done..the guys want to drink it green..I let them..and i gotta admit..I think it tastes real good green too..

  • Yeah about being green... Its hard not to drink it. I usually hit a month & a half before I start drinking a batch. The longer I wait, the better it gets however... I'm reading "A Year of Beer" right now (Turczyn) which is a book of winning recipes from competitions (NHC) from 1994-1996.

To my surprise, most of the ales listed age when judged: 3 - 6 months was common...

  • Great series of vids. Never did AG brewing, but you made it look almost easy. I wish I had a basement to brew in ... it would be so much easier. Thanks again for putting together a nice educational series of vids.

    Cheers!

  • BTW Fugazi rocks!

  • Love the series. I haven't brewed in a long time and I did mostly mead/wine and extract brewing. I'm just getting back in to it and I want to do all grain so this was good way to see what it entails. Great job one of the best I've seen on YouTube.

  • does all grain cost about the same as extract brewing?

  • it should be cheaper actually.

  • What is the name of your mill?

  • Its a barley crusher with a 15 pound hopper.

  • Damn. Use a cordless drill! Works great for me!

I use the same mill and I bet I could crush your whole bill in the time it took you to crush the first pound.

  • perfect! The best Homebrewing video that I ever seen!
