  • IS THAT ALL YOU FOUND?!?

  • yah i think if you just classified your material to half or quarter inch especially with that slower velocity it would turn out alot better..you wash out alot of gold when the riffles get packed up with gravel like that..but like you said you had a good time so thats all that matters

  • FYI: It is pronounced "buck han an".

  • sift out all your larger rocks.. it will keep you sluce from gettin clog'd ups and not loose all the flower golds.. or fine golds.. just lettin you know..

  • I liked your video... I had a strikingly similar experience panning in Georgia. Had a great time, even though most of it was spent building a dam. 3 or 4 of the smallest specks you ever saw still made me smile.

  • There is a great video on getting the most out of classification on the Prospecting Channel website, titled "Your Motherlode

Your complete Guide to Panning, Slucing, & Reading Pay Layers".

Their Maximum Recovery system might be good for a low producing area to get the most out of your time. Cheers, Thanks and keep having Fun :D

  • @amishjim

Yes, I saw it. The only problem is they know where to dig. They are digging good ground. Since we haven't been to the same place every time we go out, I'm still trying to figure out what is overburden and what is a pay layer. My problem with classifying is spending too much time classifying overburden. Heck, even when I'm in ore that people say has gold, I haven't found much.

  • @GoldHunterMike I have yet to try it at all, but I'm sure I will soon feel your pain, ha.I'm just overindulging in all available info and since I'm living in Pennsylvania, I'm sure I'll have to travel to find a spot worth playing in. But, I'm kinda like you in that the journey is often the reward and anything else is a bonus. Thanks for sharing, please keep on keeping on.

  • @GoldHunterMike You wont find much on gpaa claims anyways. They are all worn out which is why they are gpaa claims in the first place.

  • MIke,

Nice talking with you on the phone! You need more volume and/or velocity of water thru it. Get the tail end up out of the slow creek water. Keep the speed/velocity up and the riffles cleaner too. Recommend a section of the creek with more exposed bedrock to shovel closer to the bedrock/on the bedrock. Also, a spot where the water flows faster over a gravel bar up stream/down stream. Good job! Keep it up! Randy C-17A

  • @C0017A ,

Hi Randy, nice speaking with you as well! After talking I realized what it was. I needed a better place with more drop. Even after damming up the creek, it was still too flat. Like you said, I needed to move up the creek some and haul material to it if need be.
