In my experience, at least for me, 1.5 speed increase is SO much easier at higher levels. I can do less than half of the songs on Expert without it. Leaves the screen so damn crowded with that many arrows coming down. Grandolin + Oni - 1.5x....No Chance! (you can most likely d it, but i cant.....id rather shoot myself)

Not sure why Konami didn't use these steps for the DDRX special. These are MUCH better.

If you connect your 360 to the internet, you can at least use a Silver subscription to Live to download the new songs. The Silver subscription is free; you just need to pay for enough Microsoft Points to buy the songs (or songpack).

And I've been playing since June 2002.
