As for scientific, most of the personhood debate of the last century or two has been focused on whether or not different races were people, or people on the same level as white people. Abortions were happening before it was legalized in 1973. Abortions have been going on for all of human history. Before abortions were legalized, about 1/3 of American women sought abortions. After 1973, the number was the same. The only difference is, that once abortions became legal and safe, less WOMEN DIED. Also the majority of abortions are given to women between 30 and 40 who are married and ALREADY HAVE CHILDREN. They have abortions to ensure a good quality of life for their families.

Also most humans are done forming within 9-11 weeks, about two months... I have a hard time calling something that looks exactly like a small human "access flesh" or a "parasite"... and the record for a baby being born and surviving was at 21 weeks... which is about 4 and a half months. I think late term abortion of a conscious baby is wrong ok? However, a collection of cells, even a fetus with a heartbeat, is not a person yet. Its just not. @kenshrah The United States government does NOT recognize the unborn as an American citizen bestowed with rights. This is what Personhood amendments seek to change. You cannot take rights away from something that has not been granted them yet. The fertilized egg is not seen as a person by definition to the government and so no violation has occurred in an abortion, according to the law.

The most a creditable doctor has EVER given for a mother in terms of "the babies birth would kill her" is 10-15%. And besides, historically in many places, aborting or killing an unborn child was seen as heinous. On the other side of the coin, there were places where child sacrifice was considered necessary. Abortions were happening before it was legalized in 1973. Abortions have been going on for all of human history. Before abortions were legalized, about 1/3 of American women sought abortions. After 1973, the number was the same. The only difference is, that once abortions became legal and safe, less WOMEN DIED. Also the majority of abortions are given to women between 30 and 40 who are married and ALREADY HAVE CHILDREN. They have abortions to ensure a good quality of life for their families.

Did you know when someone gets raped the body is under extreme distress that typically turns off the reproductive cycle? Couple that with when a woman reveals shes raped, the hospital immediately cleans out her body of any semen from the man and naturally the egg too. I think late term abortion of a conscious baby is wrong ok? However, a collection of cells, even a fetus with a heartbeat, is not a person yet. Its just not. I can't tell you how strongly I believe this. Late term abortion is ghastly. But early, even 5 week, is IMHO not. Its not murder. The thing is not conscious. Its less conscious than a chicken or a shrimp. Its not a person. By medical law, a person is alive if they have frontal lobe brain activity. A fetus doesn't even have a frontal lobe.

The government has no business dictating what you can, or can't do with your own body.
A Fetus cannot live on it's own until it has reached 10 weeks, therefore up until that point, it is defined as part of your body and the government has no say in what you do with your own body.
However, after 10 weeks, when the baby is no longer dependent the host mother, to extinguish that life is considered murder.

You cannot take rights away from something that has not been granted them yet. The fertilized egg is not seen as a person by definition to the government and so no violation has occurred in an abortion, according to the law.

I feel that the legal system is too clumsy an instrument to combat abortion. When abortion was illegal in the United States it was generally treated as a misdemeanor. Would this amendment make abortion a capital crime? Exceptions for rape and incest would spawn false accusations and subject victims to burdensome investigations. In economic terms, inelasticity of demand for abortions means a ban would have little effect. Complications abound. Ideally, penance, not prison is the sinner's solution.

You personally hate it, and that's your right; however, I view abortions like I view drug use and other so-called crimes, I view them as moral issues. Since 100% of ectopic pregnancies are NONVIABLE (meaning it will never result in a baby), that 15% chance of risk to health of the woman is MORE than enough to go forward with an emergency abortive measure. It will never be able to be taken to term, so there is absolutely NO REASON to take the chance that the woman will shed the egg on her own. No one is going on a killing spree anywhere, stop being so melodramatic, it doesn't help ur case

You are sidestepping the questions I have so much that I'm convinced you are a total imbecile and not worth discussing anything with any longer.Planned Parenthood doesn't even offer abortions in my state, they do medical procedures and examinations,administer medications to low-income families.They DO a great many other things outside of abortion.Personhood amendments stretch further than just abortion into areas that can hurt women.

Its called a slippery slope, no pun intended, it starts out benign and with good intentions and ends up going too far eventually. BTW, Mississippi did NOT pass its personhood at fertilization amendment! Even the reddest, most conservative Christian state in the U.S. couldn't pass this ludicrousness.

@BoyKagome PS- Personhood laws OUTRIGHT state that they will NOT allow procedures or medications which would prevent a potentially fertilized egg to be implanted to the uterus. This would include any "flushing" which you stated (which to my knowledge isn't exactly a reasonable idea since administering a douche isn't an effective way to prevent egg implantation. Most hospitals use emergency contraceptives like Plan B)
