  • Lovely song, thanks for uploading.

  • Funny, my Name is Altan aswell. And it does actually mean Sunset. Haha. I guess this Song is for me haha

  • What is the whistle?

  • I love the way the music builds. Altan are a brilliant band who deserve wider appreciation than they receive.

  • This is as tight as any band gets!! Hats off to everyone in it! I have found a new band to admire!!

  • love it...all...

  • Great tune composed by the incomparable Cathal McConnell

  • It may sound to you all a bit strange but until today I had never heard of Altan. I've seen them today on France 24, and although I'm been for some years a passionate fan of the Chieftains, Altan are the definition of what I like about Gaelic music. Brilliant!

Thanks for creating/playing such a beautiful music!

  • maravilloso¡¡

  • I <3 iiit =)

  • Playing it on violin/fiddle is hard...tried it! But sounds nice.

  • I love this, its so beautiful

  • I had the wonderful privledge of seeing and meeting Altan. My family had a wonderful time and I love to experience their music over and over. I hope they can come back to Texas again.

  • I love it how there's a Mongolian folk rock group called Altan Urag.

  • great n stuff ..

  • Absolutely glorious! I've been in love with Altan's music since the first time I heard "Donal Agus Morag/The New-Rigged Ship" on Narada's Celtic Odyssey. What an incredible group of musicians and they make it look so easy here.

  • Very nice. I like gaelic music, traditional Irish music. Altan is brilliant. i m looking for "An cailin gaelach"song on youtube, but it´is not here :( . (Sorry my little english)

  • deeply delightful

  • mm, Somehow this music is comforting and homelike.

  • The guitar part at the beginning is beautiful!

  • v.good!

  • I wish everybody had an Irish heart and could appreciate this music as much as I do, but guess if you've listened and are reading this you're nearly there.

  • this music is beautiful

  • shut up

  • Altan rocks, so shut up.

  • oh yeah...really brilliant.

it takes a lot of brains to type "fuckaltan."

dumbass didn't even use the space bar.

  • This is truly one of the most beautiful tunes I've ever heard.

  • That's the way I feel about many of their numbers. This one can be found on their album "Altan" and also on "The Best of Altan."

  • Altan... Tá grá agam dá gceol!

  • I love this song T__T it makes me feel, i dunno it's like if the song itself could bring memories even the first time you heard it, that was how I felt the first time i heard it, and i still getting the same feeling

  • Your sexual prefferences are not of our interest, if you like things up your ass please keep it for yourself =)

  • Ur an asshole. Get a life.

  • This music touched me... such a wonderful music! It's like... you know... if I heard somthing like this before but I cannot remember... It's so hard to explain!

(sorry, my English is not very good)

  • The album version used a flute.

  • That was the late great Frankie Kennedy. This is Ciaran Tourish, who, as far as I know, doesn't play the flute. I've heard that Altan chose not to find another flute player after Frankie died.

  • It was too hard on Mairead to make this kind of substitution, I think.

  • Frankie was much better than Ciaran. Its a shame really.

  • My friend is called Altan.

  • Oh my god this is great!!!!!

  • what whistle is?

  • thanx fo posting/sharing!!! it's amazing!

  • OMG!! is the best I listen in my life!!

  • Interesting. I don't know this band but "Altan" in turkish language means "Sunset" :)

  • The band is named after a lough were they grew up in Donegal! Lol but whatever floats your boat, or as my friend says, your cat! :)

  • This is amazing, the first time I see altan! Great.... !!! I love this music!

  • WOw!

  • Brilliant live ! Saw them at Celtic Connections 2006. Thanks for the video, it's lovely !

  • I'm crying... It's fantastic...

    Go raib maith agat...

  • Of course but the good bands dont play live like in the studio

  • Comment removed

  • In the studio recording, don't they use an irish flute and not a whistle?

  • I don't know enough about instruments to say, but the instrument on the album version must be different; it sounds much deeper than the one in this live performance.

  • the whistle is just a good old-fashioned whistle. Tin whistle do come in a couple of different keys.

  • Yes, but that was Frankie when he was still alive. This is Ciaran on the whistle.

  • Caught them @ Milwaukee's IRISH FEST...superlative.

  • Thanks for posting these Altan videos. Especially this one.

    We miss you, Frankie.

  • Altan is a magnificent band. Awesome live. I've seen them twice. Mairead is very sweet. She took a picture with my wife & I.
