  • ya be trahnul etu suku

  • Jeepers Creepers.

It is f***ing ukrainian folk tale. What's a point of calling black white?

  • Its rather a ukrainian folk story....i suppose. It seems to me so. As far as i remember...

  • ona krasavitsa........

  • Anybody know what "Viy" actually translates to? I cannot find it..and it's definetely not in my Russian dictionary!

  • @computerwiz10 If I remember correctly `Viy` translates as eyelash.

  • @Ralli2Yazh Actually, (not to argue with you or anything) but I found eyelash is different..I have a Russian dictionary...

  • @computerwiz10

Viy (in Slavic myths, a supernatural being that can kill people by looking at them)

Ukrainian 'Viya' is an eyelash (Rus - 'Resnitsa')

    It's also on Wikipedia.

  • @BanderaFighter Oh really? Wow, thanks so much for clearing that up!

  • I love this film,

  • The film is removed in the sixties.

  • I remmeber reading polish translation of Viy, i was terrified.Brilliant

  • Тупые вы Американцы! Что вы понимаете в классике. Одним словом, пустота!

  • @Golem221

    Согласна на все 1000% !!!

Вот только эта пустота в головах, начинает и в России появляться и все больше и больше !!!

  • wtf? why wouldn't u be proud to be russian? a country with such deep historical and artistic values! u're only proud because of a film?

    u shud be ashamed :(

  • have u ever lived in Russia, lady? or were you born in canada?

  • i was born in isreal, but my dad's lived in russsia his whole life thank u very much

  • thank me for what?

anyway, don't make assumptions only from what people tell you, if you haven't seen and lived something yourself

    it's a good advice

russia's not only bears and vodka, like many stupid ppl still think today :)

  • bears? awesome...

  • stupid, you don' t know nothing about Russia, the Wikipedia is not everything so, si no entiendes cosas no explicas tonterias

  • lol? I'm Russian, to start with, I live in St. Petersburg. Used to live in Spain for a few years. You're gonna tell me I don't know about Russia? wtf? Why would you say that?

La tonta eres tu, no yo, prima. No me cuentes historias.

  • @SmokiSounds DUDE my mother is from RUSSIA and im born there and if you are 2 why you talking about RU like that

  • What do you mean "like that"?? You probably didn't even understand what I said!

I was talking to a girl who said she never thought she could be proud to be Russian (born in Canada or something), so I said why wouldn't you be proud of Russia, and that she should feel ashamed.

    What's wrong with that??

  • @SmokiSounds SORRY dude i was wrong, now i understand >}

  • No problem ))

  • There's also a Serbian version, based on the Gogol's ''Viy'',called ''Sveto mesto''(Holly place)...My opinion is that ''Sveto mesto'' is more scary than the Russian version, and upcoming U.S.A. Serbians don't have developed horror film culture, but, when you see one of those rare movies, you will be scarred to death...Trust me...I recomend you ''Leptirica''(the butterfly) and ''Sveto mesto'' (the Holy place)....You have some trailers here on You tube...

  • Really good

  • Calling this 'The' Viy makes no sense really, it's just 'Viy', the demon at the end. They've remade this and I believe an English version will be in theaters in the US in 2009.

  • By the way, if you like the effects of this segment (the second night), you need to see the ending.

  • I discovered the story in Roger Vadim's vampire compilation. This is faithful!

  • Wow! This is great for 1967!

  • amazing effects for 1967.
