Did this guy overkill, it appears to be. Did he have every right to defend himself, yes. Did he deserve a first degree murder conviction, HELL NO. Perhaps a voluntary manslaughter charge and a few years in minimum security prision would have been the correct punishment. First degree murder should be ruled out, though, because he never anticipated getting robbed by this kid in the first place - in other words, no premeditation. He had poor legal representation. The robber absolutely deserved to die - at the first encounter.

Did this guy overkill, it appears to be. Did he have every right to defend himself, yes. Did he deserve a first degree murder conviction, HELL NO. Perhaps a voluntary manslaughter charge and a few years in minimum security prision would have been the correct punishment. Technically they are right, but the suspect was probably already dead from the head shot, and a claim of irrational fear is sure to find at least a few sympathetic jurors. He is more likely to encounter problems if he fired at the other fleeing suspect, there is something inherently wrong with shooting someone in the back.

Has this case been decided yet? I would have gave him two extra b4 I turned my back and chased the other criminal out of the store. meaning I believe this guy was under severe distress when he returned into his store. JUSTIFIED!
Crime is real it is not a Video Game, you cant determine what a robber will do and wont do. what if that guy got back up while he was on the phone calling police. As a store clerk Im not standing there trying to determine how extreme the assailants injuries are.
