I am rather disappointed that the platform levels forbid the use of Superliner equipment. Because the Berkshire Crossing is so beautiful, the train deserves a Lounge-Cafe Car with the extra large windows.

NORAC requires high level platforms which forbid Superliners. They should take the full dome off the Surfliner for use on the Lake Shore Limited. It should work on high level platforms

@Sniper12890 or make a double decker for the east coast that can do both high level and low level platforms. Like the one's made by Kawasaki for MARC, VRE, and LIRR. Plus the one's built for MARC and VRE, can hit 125mph and from what i heard a potential for 135mph

Actually I heard that they were considering adding more cars because of the ridership increase on the Boston-Albany line. You are right about the driving time though, much faster by car.

Not exactly. Entirely separate trains have been used since 2003. I believe the coupling and uncoupling of trains at Albany was more trouble than it was worth, so passengers just get off the one train and cross the platform to the other now.

I don't know what Amtrak's equipment-use practices are in the East, but the use of short-distance equipment would make sense in this case.

I belive they started combining the trains again at albany. Today I rode the Lakeshore limited from Boston to Springfield and it had a sleeper and long distance coaches. There was an article in the newspaper about it too.

I have ridden the eurostar and TGV and the reason why the trains are nicer is because the german and french goverments own the train companies and people want better trains not just better airplains and airports and hiways in europe its all about trains and people take the train because cities are closer together and safer then the auto Bahn
