  • Great lift. but was this filmed with a potato?

  • Was that Nathan Jones at the end, in the audience?

  • @Denver542 I was saying the exact same thing at the exact same time i saw your comment. I think it was Nathan Jones.

  • ah that was 11 reps the last one doesnt count the guys on the side lifted it

  • @monsterdrinker224 yea thats what i was finna comment ....

  • 480? we dont even see the weight or plates

  • @justingrover its a motorbike. read the info.. "The apparatus used in this clip is a giant platform built on a hinge with an olympic bar attached to it, allowing strongmen to bench press unusual objects like refrigerators and baby elephants. In this clip 1998 World's Strongest Man Magnus Samuelsson is benching a 480lb motorbike...12 times!"

  • SWEDISH POWER!! love this guy, not just strong, great personality too!

  • I can't even make an empty bar look that light.

  • this is easier then real brenchpress.. cause he dosnt need to worry about controlling the balance.. that makes it easier.. he wuldnt make 12 reps with real benchpress.. but even so its still really heavy big props to him

  • @ramadan11111 From my personal experince a fixed bencpress is harder then a normal one, cuz on the fixed one you cant move natrally to make the lift esier

  • @ramadan11111 I doubt that, check out his video on the related video section of him doing 595lb free weight barbell for two reps. 480lb for 12 on free weight certainly seems feasible for him.

  • u get a bear hug frm this guy and u might as well be grapling 6 bear hugs

  • 11 not 12reps <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

  • magnus is just an awesome persona regardless of his strength. By the way, this guy can rep 600lbs raw. Hes one of the best ever.

  • why are his forearms crazy small.

  • @fatsaassa021 cuz his biceps are 24 inch. Im sure his forearms are still over 20 inch though

  • Thats nothing...

  • Look him up retards. Magnus Samuelson is well known! A legend for christ's sake.

  • This is not an actual bench press workout. He's still extremely strong.

  • ive just seen two videos of this guy. bravo to him. so much strength.

but fuck me how many references to steroids are on these comments. give it a fucking rest.

  • im only 13 and i can bench 400 raw

  • @13andincrediblycut bullshit.

  • @13andincrediblycut

    bullshit x2

  • @13andincrediblycut And I'm only 5 and I can bench 1000 lbs raw. Why the hell did you tell us about it? Everyone knows you're lying, and no one is impressed. Please go and die.

  • Awesome!!!

  • lmao i wanna benchpress a baby elephant

  • whats the point of getting off that bench so quickly after a bench press? ever heard of resting? jesus

  • On the other hand...why doe's someone ALWAYS defend somebody who someone else blames to use steroids? As if you KNOW they work hard, or "bust their butt" in the gym. How do you KNOW they bust their butt in the gym? Do you tail him and watch his training? Do you know him personally? How the hell do you know if he busts his ass or not? He might stit on the couch and take 5000mgs of test a week and eat jelly donuts for all you know.

  • its magnus samuelsson from sweden.

  • Why not?

  • you should never bring the weight directly on to your chest like that...horrible.

  • @IPukeOnNoobs this aint bodybuilding, its powerlifting. you have to.

  • lol

  • That's not like benching straight up 480. He's got leverage on his side. Probably benching more like 400.

  • looks like hes pressing slighty toward his feet...

  • @gtjohnnycake looks like a decline ^^

  • may be these two ''looks like's'' will make a perfect bench some how

  • That's exactly what I was saying, if you don't do jack shit and take steriods, you won't get stronger.

And I didn't mention having to train harder, so you're proving something I didn't say wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • nice

  • hes not actually moving 480 cuz its hinged

  • Well, he can bench 660lb, I reckon he could do alot more reps if it was something like 315lb.

  • Ah no it is 480lb's all the way throw the lift that sort of equpment is specialy desined.

  • ehh well actually since its on a hinged platform like that it would be..

(((distance of bike from hinge)/(distance of bar or pushing point from hinge))X(weight of bike))/COS(degrees to X-axis)=actual force applied..

  • was this video sped up or something? everyone was talking all fast in a squeky voice.

  • Sounds like the sound was sped up but not the video. I got the squeeks too haha.

  • No man....Its all real. LOL! Yes. It's sped up.

  • True: many top athlete's do use steroids, but not ALL of them do. That is a hasty and ignorant generalization. Also, the things that they are able to accomplish are not just because of steroids; they have to bust their butts in training to do what they do. Why is it that someone always blames it on steroids when someone else is simply better than them at a given sport, lift, etc.?? Couldn't possibly be that they had to work at it. What's hard work anyways??

  • Well, yeah, you have to lift the weight either way, so steroids don't simply give you the results. But! Steroids DO make you able to get better results, otherwise, why would people take them?

  • @ZZaarraakkii because they taste so yummy??

  • @ZZaarraakkii It makes it easier to get the results too. Going to the gym when your testosterone is at baseline is such a DRAG, but when your testosterone is very very high, you're unstoppable. It's second nature to push yourself hard when it's that high.

  • @primevalindividual most steroids that are crap don't work.. You really have to know what your doing to get the right ones..and the people who are the best and do them is probably because they are just working so hard that they would sacrifice themselves to be even better

  • @primevalindividual because ppl are in denial oh what themselves can do

  • @primevalindividual yea i agree, this guy looks like eh cant even benchpress 400 pounds tho hes small. either vid is fake or some strong tendons.

  • @TAKEMARU666

wtf are you talking about..That is one of The worlds strongest men genius

  • @TAKEMARU666 He's won the world's strongest man dude, plus this was showed on eurosport. Does eurosport show fake vids, you think?

  • @TAKEMARU666 Hes small??!?!? Hes 6'5 and 300lbs you fucking douche bag. Wow, there are some utter morons out there.

  • @pharry4life ahh my bad true he is tall so he doesnt look as big . im 5 foot 9-10 and 280 pounds so i look really compact stalky so i look alot bigger.

  • @primevalindividual Exactly.

Steroids work wonders especially when the person has a high athletic ability initially from years of intense training

  • Damn straight, brother. Has nothing to do with the sacrifice and the agonizing hours in the gym. The thousands of reps performed to train and thousands of calories consumed to grow. None of that helps... just the steroids. XD How ignorant.

  • @primevalindividual Good athletes may not take roids, but TOP athletes in sports that require power and or huge muscles all take roids. Not one competitor in the Mr O is drug free. Not a single one! That's why they have drug free powerlifting and bodybuilding competitions. If it's possible to compete against Scott Medelson and Jay Cutler without roids, why is there drug free organizations? I was a heavy lifter so I witnessed it first hand. Even the drug free competitions has cheaters.

  • Dont hate on Magnus...the guy deserves every pound he moves.

  • and a guy from finland the europen champion in benchpress fredrik smulter benchpressed 325KG RAW . totally clean from roids

  • All elite (top 5 minimum) powerlifters, weightlifters, sprinters, long jumpers, shot putters or whatever physical sport you like are doing steroids.

If you don't believe that then it's time to wake up.

  • no it's time for you to wake up just cuz ppl take/use roids does'nt means ewrybody use em.

  • How old are you? Once you reach a certain level of general knowledge this becomes very obvious.

The best track and field (short distances, throwing events) athletes, weightlifters and powerlifters are on steroids.

The entire West Side Crew are on steroids (Lou Simmons talks openly about it) and they'll probably say the same thing about the rest.

  • like i said not everybody use steroids but you are to jelous and ignorant to comprehend that. magnus is a big guy from beggining and have raw natural strenght and further more i've seen how roid-users looks nothing like magnus.

  • AAS don't change the look of your muscles, how you look is based on genetics (insertion points, bone length) and partly by how you train (myofibrillar or sarcoplasmic), steroids only speed up recovery proccess.

You don't seem to know much about this, I recommend that you read up on steroids to get a better view to base your agruments on.

If you are too lazy to read, watch the movie Bigger Stronger Faster.

  • NOTE- I'm not saying that he IS on steroids, just that the possibility is huge and that there's nothing pointing towards that he's not using them.

I met him once at a convention (he was crushing pots and pans haha), he's a really nice guy! :)

  • i met him on the åland islands wery down to earth guy:)

  • they do alot more than help you recover bud. i take them i know

     Insane Focus under the bar

instant recovery between sets when i was natural i was squating 400 for one and 315 for 10 when i started anavar and 2 cc of truinabol i immefiatly jumped to 430 for one and 315 for 20. and they are cutting steroids not strength or mass gainers... At work i have to bend over and lift heavy boxes and when i was on cycle my back would pump up so much i would have to stop and rest. good movie by the way

  • Well yes, they are hormones. The way you rationalize is largely dependant on the amount of hormones you have fluctuating in your body.

There's is no thing as "bulking/cutting/strength" steroid. Sure, different combinations of anabolic/androgenic ratios are going to give different results, but they all serve to the same purpose.

  • haha, not raw.

  • i know this not raw, another guy lifted 325kg raw.

  • the viking benches 290kg for a rep

  • guy i train with, neil elliot (scottish shot putter) does 250kg for 1, he claims he saw an irish man do 300kg completely raw,

  • Where's the part where he pulls out his claymore and cuts everyone up?

  • Why oh Why do people have to hate all the time great lift!! I

  • viking

  • god there is always someone b*tching about something! it magnus samuelsson! he benched 270kg (595lbs) for a double with true bench form! im sure he is aware its not a true bench in this video!

  • actually i believe his ass didnt touch the bench in that video.

But yea he didnt bounce it and he IS really strong.

  • Also, let's not forget that the lifts were RAW, the raw world record is only like 715 and magnus isn't even a powerlifter.

  • haha ONLY 715.

  • Though impressive, this lift is on a smith machine like appartus, put 480 on a regular barbell and it's very unlikely he can do the same reps with the same reps--that's with anyone.

  • actually the world record is around 730 lbs. it was by ryan kennelly RAW

  • thats not a true bench because there is no side to side back and forth movement of the bar. that is more like a smith machine bench.

  • beast

  • that may have been the dumbest comment i have ever read on you tube

  • Actually he is right, guys, that isn't the right way to do them, you aren't supposed to lock your elbows because it gives your chest a rest.

  • please say your joking with that comment??? you have to lock out your arms in a contest lift...

  • i know. what a dumbass for saying that

  • is a contest he wont be able to move his arms when hes older duznt even strap his elbows

  • you may be the most stupid guy here, try to pull that shit up yourself, i think magnus know what hes doing so stfu.

  • parry die in a fucking fire u fucking downey.

  • stop hatin bitch nigga!!!!!!

  • He has done 270kgx2 (594lbs) RAW in his training video on youtube, which is crazy.... i cant even do 274lbs lol

  • this is the strongest man walking on earth, check out magnus samuelsson vs

nathan jones, magnus showsthat he is mutch stronger than nathan. If enyone knows who nathan is...

  • benedict magnusson is stronger brah

  • stolq, you are mistaking...armwrestling is not all about power, it's about TECHINQUE, EXPERIENCE, POSITIONING, ARM LENGTH, GRIP, FINGERS, FOREARM, EMOTIONAL LEVEL AND SO ON. of course Magnus is one of the strongest but you cannot say that judging by that armwrestling match

  • erm magnus is one of the strongest judging by the amount of weight he presses and curls and his WSM win.

  • Lol so pointless...although I guess if I get stuck under a motorbike, I'm screwed =/

  • he says he do 300kg in benchpress , and he does 2x270 kg in his video i think.

  • he is bench press 300 raw

  • Is couson IT in the background or something.

  • well this was in the super series 2001 and he won that competition.. ..

  • that guy is magnus samuelsson look him up

  • weak

  • what's with the funny sound

  • funny voice xD

  • SHIT~ I can BENCH PRESS A PICK UP TRUCK

  • tonka toys don't count

  • its a machine because its storng man not power lifting

  • I did that once. Pulled my poopy string. But I did it.

  • wtf... its a machine though... i'd like to see him do that with free weights.

  • Oh, he can bench 400 plus with free weights. You don't need to worry about that.

  • 594x2 to be exact! :)

  • 595.08x2 to be incredibly exact :-)

  • LOL> Thanks! :)

  • Magnus does curls w/ 100lb dumbells w/ ease, Dont correct him on the free weights thing

  • Magnus samelsson:D

  • benchpress machine LOL =D=D=D

  • form police there is nothing to see here move along.

  • on a smith machine though? fuck off.

  • fuck the form police

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD.

    nuff said

  • slow record gone bad

  • it's not terrible, it's effective

  • when was he bouncing you dumbass, and lets see you do even half that weight for 1 rep ya smartass. hes been the in the strongman business for many years i think he would know how to lift.

  • its all part of the game i guess if you wanna compete as a strongman

  • Form-police go home please.

  • what do you go around posting that on every weight lifting video

  • Yes, i do. Since the form-police is everywhere. Screw benchpress form when you're a strongman! This is not bodybuilding!

  • what if thy think that it's fun?

  • What if thy think what is fun?

  • dude...does he look like he's a body builder?? NO ...he's Magnus Samuelson so take your "form" and throw it out the window

  • where and when does it show the weight?

  • Like if it matters if its 11½ ?!

Try to bench that yourself! ;)

  • He can frow me a thousand miles away

  • that was 11 reps.

  • for all of you whining about it not being free weight, theres a vid of him benching 270 kg for a double raw

  • LOL what a sound in the back ground

  • If your name was Magnus, you can bench 500 pounds 10 times at birth

  • its hard, you got to face it, but the leverage of the machine could help a bit

  • if i did that i will be so buff

  • Fine haters. You win. Samuesslon's a weakling. He probably gets picked on by EMO's.

  • Watch the vid where he presses 270 kg x 2. Roughly 590 pounds. Then see if you are impressed.

  • Yeah, using a machine is much easier, but its still alot of dam weight.

  • none of you fuckers could ever even lift 480lbs for 1 rep. Until then stfu please

  • is a machine, is fake!!!

  • using machine is easier dumb asses!

  • who give a shit u faggot any ways 5 bucks the way stronger then ur stupid ass!!!

  • dude.. hes using a machine..

he def could not lift that much if it was free weight

  • Size isn't completely irrevelant. I mean I doubt a 150 pound man can bench the same amount as a 300 pound man. If he can the 300 pound man is doing something wrong.

  • Aside from those genetic monsters from hell, I can guarantee that size helps your bench. If it doesn't help anything else, putting on extra weight will help your bench. It's just how it goes

  • Is that right TheOneWhoGives? Last time I checked there are weight divisions in powerlifting and olympic weightlifting. Also last time I checked the heavier athletes lift more than the lighter ones. If size is irrelevant when it comes to strength then the 1003lb deadlift world record by SHW Andy Bolton should be around the same as the lightweight record. But in fact the lightweight record is 570lbs not 1003lbs.

  • sajmoon that was quite stupid how can u have big muscles and no strenght are u a fool

  • magnus samuelsson is the strongest man in the world AND he doesn't take any steroids because you might grow big muscles by roids but you aint gonna grow strong.

  • that's not true. Steroids increase strength like crazy. THat's why top level strongmen, powerlifters, and athletes use them to increase strength and speed, not to look big. There are different types of steroids. Many increase size better and many increase strength better.

  • either way they all shrink ur balls

  • Haha, yes they do. They shrink your balls, make your hair fall out, grow your prostate, give you acne, and once you stop using them, you often get depressed and you need to take more drugs just to get your nads working again. It's pretty fuckin sad and they're all good reasons never to use steroids just to get bigger or stronger, you can get surprisingly strong with heavy lifting, tons of rest, a lot of food, and alot of patience.

  • amen to that brother

  • The balls only shrink temporarily, and the acne/hairloss is a side-effect if you consume too high doses of anabolic steroids. (I can't believe Arnold Schwarzenegger is still alive) The rest you say is absolutely correct, and I agree with you, it really is sad that people waste their life using it - as most consumers live in denial, and have further issues going way back!

  • The acne and hairloss is actually a side effect of hormonal conversion of test into DHT and then DHT binding to the androgen receptors in the prostate and hair rooting cells. You can take DHT blockers but it still very difficult to fully prevent hair loss and prostate enlargement.

  • Haha, I saw your profile, and realize you probably know a lot more than me on that subject

  • Oh haha yeah well I've learned quite a bit about steroids just reading magazines. The more I read, the more I know I'd never want to use them. Besides, I've found you can get pretty strong just cycling your rep ranges and making sure you only work each major muscle group once a week.

  • That's great, and particularly that you have gotten as far as you have!

I also train a lot, olympic weightlifting, though.

Well, keep on what you're doing! It seems to work well:)

  • this is yor voice on roids

  • I have to see Larry Allen bench 700, because Justin Harris benched 225 60 times and he can bench about 675, and Larry allen did 225 only 46 times

  • u gotta look at the technique tho, cause those speed reps are cheating, they only come up half way up

  • they aren't speed reps they just don't lock out...on speed reps you only come up about a quarter of the way..by not locking out all the way some people claim it is less stress on the elbows

  • only old ladies clam it puts more stress on the elbows...lol but i dont lockout either i come up just before lockout
