The difference between what Federer did and what Murray did, was that Federer was forced to use the tweener. He had no other choice. What Murray did was unnecessary and unforced. This was hugely disrespectful of Murray to do so.
@rooksaiz Yea he's always going to be a boring player anyway compared to Tsonga or Federer. He's trying too hard to entertain and it just makes him look stupid.
@sepultura1991 no, he's got the talent, no doubt, he especially showed it in the Shanghai masters, and some of the other Masters round that time, sending the likes of Nadal and Federer running. He just hasn't got the mind set to take on a grand slam yet. but he's recently got a new coach guy. so we'll see.
Murray is an arrogant dumbass. Watch at 5:00, Tsonga is smiling at the point, but Murray does not even glance back because he just wanted to show off with his tweener. Glad he got screwed in many other points of the video hahaha.
What is so wrong with hitting a tweener???????? There's been plenty of tweeners similar in the past. I honestly don't see why people are saying it's disrespectful.
@nerayola you see there is nothing to discuss about this, that shot wasnt necesary, true, the fact that he made it shows he is brave to get away all the presure of sponsors coaches prices rankings and have some fun pulling off a shot that comes to your mind in 0.1 seconds before having to touch the ball knowing that idea is 99% going to fail and still bet for the 1%, which with his talent and his personality comes out as a 100% efficient shot which makes everyone clap him. totally RESPECTFUL
Every champion has to have some level of arrogance. Afterall, there's only a very fine line between arrogance and confidence. As long as that arrogance doesn't cause offence to anyone involved in the match or to spectators, then there shouldn't be a problem.
i'm not sure I liked the second tweener. I don't mind them when you have no other choice like federers, nadals and murrays first one, because they literally had almost no other choice. The one at the end..........im just not sure, if he over ran it, its brilliant, if it was pre determined thought, then.......hmmmm.........maybe I should just lighted up
Tsonga was awesome in the first set, but once Murray stepped up his game there was only going to be one outcome. Andy's a much better player and has the superior all-round game.
Totally biased 'highlights' - even though Murray won the match somehow at least 80% of the points won in this video were by Tsonga... how is that i wonder?
Also, Murray is very fast, and some times he overruns shots dropshots, so he like to practice that weird tweener thing. In addition to it being lots of fun. And Tsonga showboats all the time.
Blah Blah Blah Joe Tsonga. Murray wins. I am so sick of hearing about this guy and that other African from France. Neither one of them has won shit! Period! Until they do, please, tennis world, stop kissing their asses!
see the thing that I don't get is when Murray does a tweener everyone has a go at him saying 'oh its disrespectful and unsportsmanly' but when federer does it no one gives a shit, I mean if you have the talent you should be able to show it
Federer does it because it gives him a significant advantage in a tight position (after being loped) ==> opponent doesnt know where he will hit/surprise effect, murray at 6:33
knew very well that it was impossible for tsonga to reach that shot, it would have been easy to finish the point with a normal short cross, it gave him no advantage whatsoever except a big ego. Finishing it like Murray did is just making fun of tsonga.
to all people saying Murrays shot at 6:33 is offensive, stupid, unnecessary... It would have been impossible for him to hit that kind of angle if he stopped, because he would have been too close to the ball. Hitting it through his legs allowed him more space to get the ball over the net, because he was further from the net. Not unnecessary.
And most half-decent players (including myself) would try that shot sometime, regardless of the situation.
@DuncanKaras yes he could of.. how would his angle increase if hes hitting the ball later? he hit that with the ball behind his legs so he could get even a better angle if the ball was in front. and that ball was going slow enough that he purposely positioned himself to hit that shot. I mean tsonga hit a lunging backhand..
I'm pretty sure the reason murray hit this was because he was frustrated with all the dramatic dives Tsonga was doing. I loved the shot but it wasn't strategic.
Murray had an option to do it between the legs or just drop shot by bending his knees and getting his racket to the ball. I feel its too show off. Federer did it out of nessacity, he was lobbed and had to play that tweener, it was do or die. Murray had much too many options to choose from besides the tweener.
@andydufresne87 WTFF!!!??? disrespectful?? thats a show of talent there is no disrespect in that shot that is a show of brilliance!!! its like if you say federers tweener passing shots are disrespectful... no way!!
@miguelsaez340 federer only does a tweener passing shot only when theres no opportunity to hit the ball .. in this example murray didnt have to do this through the leg shot he just want to degrade tsonga
@Andi12345671 do you remember this: /watch?v=kwVSbpm5a7o
well i think this link shows you a quite similar situation, as you may see murrays footwork failed a little bit in that moment, such as the video i show you but because of different reasons, well with that mistake 0.01 seconds before hitting the ball he is so great, such as roger, to make out of nowhere a show of talent
@miguelsaez340 Murray footwork didnt fail at all he could easily hit this ball .... in your example there was a net cord so federer couldnt do anything elese .... murray could.. But theres no doubt that this shot of murray was great BUT not necessary
@crazyboom98 it was such as necessary as a regular voley but tennis for what i think they might believe, is a game, a hard game, and those kind of shots blows tennis players minds, and im talking as a tennis player, its so fun to bring out of nowhere shots like that, and for my way of thinking, live is a challenge, there is people that likes the easy way, i take the hard one, i think murray might do that to, it makes it funnier and makes you happy when you get what you want
@DestroyedB3auty for sure, you have done better tweeners than that one, and you know what? me too ;) i think i am a really good player, and of course i have done tweeners several times, and they are quite easy, but i can tell you have never EVER played with a top player as tsonga in such a court with the crowd vibrating, the judges, the publicity presure... so STFU and let them do what they want because it takes a lot of courage to do that movement
This is just disrespectful shot. Because It was unnecessary. Federer's tweeners shot were useful and adequates because he couldn't retrieve the ball differently.
He has done the same shot against Ljubicic at Wimbledon JUST for the show. This is just an exhuberant worthless shot.
@DestroyedB3auty what are you saying, you prefere to see EVERY SINGLE voley like a current volley? or you want to have fun? that is fun, tennis is for fun, is a game, which people join watching, and enjoy exhibitions like that, and a tennis match is a show of talent, which murray has and demonstrated with what you bastards like to call an ''unnecesary move'', you say you play tennis, well go play untill you make an unforced error, i will go to the net and have fun doing umpredictible things ;)
@miguelsaez340 well, i could see why people find it offensive....he had tons to other options NOT to do it...but it thought it was absolutely delicious. These two are both so talented!!!!
Great highlights und amazing stunts by Tsonga. But what Murray did at 6:33 was totally superfluous and offensive towards Tsonga. A true champion doesn't do shit like that.
@The8arber Did you watch the clip? Have you never sprinted toward something before in your life? watch the slow mo, murray takes two steps to slow down, is still in front of the ball, and then plays the between-the-legs shot. You are a retard
@The8arber so the stunts that tsonga does are amazing but murray's nontraditional shots are offensive? get a clue. if you're offended by half volley cross-court drop shot winner you don't deserve to watch tennis.
@The8arber He said later in an interview that he had to do it because he messed up his footing as he went towards the ball. Dont think it was suppose to come across as being dickish.
@AZIANxPRIDE1 perfectley necessary he neede a confidence boost so played a shot like that also that then drops the head of tsonga and if u noticed murray played amazingly after that point
It was just a little joke. Tsonga's a nice guy and probably appreciated it. What about Tsonga trying to distract Fed when Fed did that smash? Tsonga wasn't disrespecting him, it was just a joke, and just like this.

Talent ? This trick is shamefully easy. I've done it at the baseline on a more powerful shot than this.
This is an amateur's shot. Real tweeners are done without rising the leg and back to the net.
