The difference between what Federer did and what Murray did, was that Federer was forced to use the tweener. He had no other choice. What Murray did was unnecessary and unforced. This was hugely disrespectful of Murray to do so.

@nerayola you see there is nothing to discuss about this, that shot wasnt necesary, true, the fact that he made it shows he is brave to get away all the presure of sponsors coaches prices rankings and have some fun pulling off a shot that comes to your mind in 0.1 seconds before having to touch the ball knowing that idea is 99% going to fail and still bet for the 1%, which with his talent and his personality comes out as a 100% efficient shot which makes everyone clap him. totally RESPECTFUL

Tsonga was awesome in the first set, but once Murray stepped up his game there was only going to be one outcome. Andy's a much better player and has the superior all-round game.

Federer does it because it gives him a significant advantage in a tight position (after being loped) ==> opponent doesnt know where he will hit/surprise effect, murray at 6:33

knew very well that it was impossible for tsonga to reach that shot, it would have been easy to finish the point with a normal short cross, it gave him no advantage whatsoever except a big ego. Finishing it like Murray did is just making fun of tsonga.

to all people saying Murrays shot at 6:33 is offensive, stupid, unnecessary... It would have been impossible for him to hit that kind of angle if he stopped, because he would have been too close to the ball. Hitting it through his legs allowed him more space to get the ball over the net, because he was further from the net. Not unnecessary.

And most half-decent players (including myself) would try that shot sometime, regardless of the situation.

@DuncanKaras yes he could of.. how would his angle increase if hes hitting the ball later? he hit that with the ball behind his legs so he could get even a better angle if the ball was in front. and that ball was going slow enough that he purposely positioned himself to hit that shot. I mean tsonga hit a lunging backhand..

I'm pretty sure the reason murray hit this was because he was frustrated with all the dramatic dives Tsonga was doing. I loved the shot but it wasn't strategic.

Murray had an option to do it between the legs or just drop shot by bending his knees and getting his racket to the ball. I feel its too show off. Federer did it out of nessacity, he was lobbed and had to play that tweener, it was do or die. Murray had much too many options to choose from besides the tweener.

well i think this link shows you a quite similar situation, as you may see murrays footwork failed a little bit in that moment, such as the video i show you but because of different reasons, well with that mistake 0.01 seconds before hitting the ball he is so great, such as roger, to make out of nowhere a show of talent

This is an amateur's shot. Real tweeners are done without rising the leg and back to the net.

Roger's, Rafa's ones are real tweeners.
