GN Commentary: "I Remember Mama" - May 8, 2009

My mom hated me. She told me many times. Yet I was the one who took care of her when she was dying. It's a tough thing when you're own mother hates you. Though I regret some of the things I said to her out of my hurt feelings, it's hard to honor a parent who hates you. It's also hard to get rid of this spirit of unforgiveness. I pray for the Holy Spirt to take it away.

What you did is very commendable. I think your mom realized that as well.

The bible teaches geniune love. Primary it teaches to love God with everything we have. Secondarily it teaches to love everyone and, get this, as you love yourself. This is not talking about selfishness mind you. But my point is, to forgive others, you must forgive yourself first.

Good that you pray. Just to remind you Christ's instruction to whom our prayers should be directed, it is to our Heavenly Father only.
