Can you use a bike which does not have a aquick release skewer on the back wheel, with any cyclops trainers. My bike does not fit exactly and i have nuts instead of a quick release, so how can i resolve this problem.
@0hsebastian It depends on the bike. It would be best to have it checked out by a local bike shop. They can take a look at your bike to see if it will work on the trainer.
I have a Specialized Rockhopper/FS and was wondering if I can use it with the CycleOps Mag Indoor Bicycle Trainer that I just purchased at REI? The sales guy said yes, but I am having a difficult time trying to set the quick release nut on the bike in the cut bolt of the trainer.Doesn't seem to fit. Any suggestions? Thanks.
@odessarules Ok. I talked to the team at CycleOPS over the weekend and they suggested you call tech support directly at CyclOPS so they can make sure if works. They said it should work as well.
@odessarules Have you tried using the trainer skewer that came with the CycleOps trainer instead of the skewer that is installed on your Specialized Rockhopper/FS?
@odessarules - I have the same bike and the same problem. I fitted road tyres to the MTB [26inch wheels] so I could commute and use the trainer, but the roller on the Fluid 2 wont wind in far enough to touch the tyre! Perhaps its only designed for road bikes?

@neilmandude All of our trainers should work fine with 15mm axel nuts. There may be some variation depending on what specific nut is used on the bike, but they can easily be replaced with a set that fits.
Would this fix a child bike? My son has the balance down and is struggling with pedaling and I was wondering if something like this would help him with learning to pedal.
@airsoftboy1313 More info: You can run a 26” mountain bike on the classic trainers; however, knobby tires will be very loud and cause vibration, and little bits of tire will probably break off, so we suggest using slicks. The Pro Series trainers will take a 29" wheels. If you get a small slick, you might be able to fit a 29er in the classic series trainer.
I recently brought a CycleOps Classic Mag Turbo Trainer and am having a nightmare setting it up. It says in the instructions that I must replace the skewer on my bike with the one provided, is this necessary as I don't want to take my bike to pieces just to set this piece of kit up. if I can't do it il'll have to send it back :( Please help!
I'm having a problem with the amount of tension on the exact model displayed in the video. I adjusted exactly as the video shows and it's way to hard even in easy gears. If I move the the tire off the spinner, then it squeaks. It's also pretty noisy..any suggestions?
@plipson11 Thanks for commenting on the video. We want to help you out with your issues, please go to the FAQ page on our website, drop us an email, or give us a call at 800-783-7257. We think we can give you some ideas on how to make it a better ride on your trainer.
Ok. When using the trainer, I use an "older" tire. After that I pump to the same each few days. This is key as it will keep things consistent. Something like 110. After that I find the "sweet spot" and keep it the same all Winter long. I use just enough to make it feel secure. Once I dial in, I do not adjust at all. Did this help?
Thanks so much.... just bought a used fluid trainer with no manual... was really suffering with the mounting sequence. After the video i was riding in the living room in about 3 minutes!
Very helpful video here. The instructions that came with my trainer (the Fluid 2) were not very helpful. After watching this, I had the bike mounted in no time. They don't mention replacing your skewer with the one supplied with the trainer, but you probably need to.
would any kind of bike be able to attatch to this trainer? i have a Mongoose brand mountain bike and wanted to use this in the winter.

@Nergock If your son's bike has 20" or 24" wheels, you could get a 20/24" Wheel Adapter. Details are on the CycleOps website.

How tight should the roller press on the rear tire? I see quite a bit of tire compression in this video.
Is there a manual online?
Many thanks!

Is this trainer pretty loud???
kastnerwyatt 2 years ago
I have two of them. One for each bike and never really think about the sound so I would say no.

You can use most any bike on this. What bike are you looking at?

i have a specialized ruby elite - i think the quick release lever on my back wheel is too wide to fit inside the cone... any ideas?
myodana 3 years ago
The trainer does come with a lever so you don't need to scratch yours. :)

i inherited mine from a family member - he must have kept it. no worries, my friendly local bike shop sold me a new skewer, no problem. thanks!

what bikes can uuse on this trainer
dominiclutwyche 3 years ago
almost all bikes can be used, but mountain bikes make a lot of noise due to the tires

They all attach in the same basic way. They just came out with new trainers, but those are about the same. Let me know if you need more specifics.

Sorry for the VERY late reply. I tend to try different tires to see what feels the best!!! It is amazing what a different tire can add to the feel!!!
