  • This was always one of my 3 favorite JF tracks. The best one from Spilt Milk. But overall, I prefer the Bellybutton album. Mainly cuz that first impression was so heavy. These guys were brilliant. Andy's an undiscovered musical genius.

  • LOVELOVELOVE this band! What a classic....

  • @1x1z Holy frakking shit...EXCELLENT !!! Kudos to you my friend !!! In the spirit of being on the cusp of that most demented of Hallmark Holidays Valentine's Day may I get down on one knee and propose marriage and the like ?? hahaha !!! Hell for loving Jellyfish AND Opeth (would liking Gojira too be stretching it.,.??) i'd even honour it if you are a dude hahaha !!! But seriously (whaddya mean...I AM !!) I applaud your great taste in all things musical...from Blackwater Park to Russian Hill !

  • i remember buying the cd with that lil red headed girl on it...

Those were the best days of my life so far...

This is another track that many would hate on first listen, but idk... maybe you had to be there to understand...Eitherway... this still excellent & unique.

  • mostly the piano reminds me the early 70s billy Joel ... just before his success

  • According to Jellyfish interviews, this album was very tedious for Jellyfish to create in the studio. If you listen to the Spilt Milk album from start to finish, you will understand why and it will inspire you.

  • @suedejones I completely agree. While I have no right to feel this way, I'm a little bummed that Andy took this stuff and used it on his Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi project. It's his stuff, and I don't hate people making money on their own IP. However, play both versions of "joining a fanclub" back to back. :(

  • Without a doubt the greatest band ever...(along with Opeth anyway at t'other end of the spectrum !!! ) Begs the question HOW did they NOT become the biggest band on the planet...??? Which, as we all know can ONLY be answered in the Court of Human Rights at the Hague...some music industry cretin behind bullet proof glass wearing his CLOTH EARED TWAT tee-shirt...hang him !!!!

  • @gojiramonkey

You and I have to be the only ones in the world that would agree about Opeth and Jellyfish!!!

  • Foster The People looking at you while you're listening to this song. XD

  • Some unequivocally brilliant songwriting. Besides the pop perfection, there's the metaphorical brilliance of the early lines - getting the naive girl (the gentleman signing his love letters 'Best wishes simpleton') pregnant is "dialogue swam from his pen like pollywogs."

Seriously? Remember when people could write songs instead of stilted awkward collisions of improper words? Geez, this is good.

  • it was 'King Is Half Undressed' off Bellybutton

  • could anyone tell me what was this bands first single please?

  • @mrbradleybaker Baby's Coming Back off of Bellybutton

  • so what did nikki say about them?

  • Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue just tweeted about these guys! Good tweet!

  • Spilt Milk is in my top 10 fav albums. Take me back to 1993!

  • hey please watch jellyfish an pretzel sticks also watch bowl of fake fruit the youtube account name is mrpineapplebuddies dont forget to comment and tell all of your friends please

  • Andy S. is/was a great singer and a great songwriter. I think many times people haphazardly throw around words like great and genius but in his case, it's fully warranted.

  • man, youtube or vevo or whomever should develop some kind of counter that monitors just now many people press mute when those dumbass ads come on. There are probably five broke retards in the whole world who actually listen to them.

  • @ndaft7 Or you could just get adblock.

  • @Ballooonatic thanks, I'm gettin it.

  • Don't forget youngsters when this came out people instead bought Nirvana and Pearl Jam. General audiences hated high concept - high quality art music. Timing is an unfair bitch. Also, smart isn't sexy. Sexy sells. Another unfair bitch. I was the outcast who did buy this when it came out and I was totally alone and nobody else considered me cool so where were you people then, huh? Do you have any idea how lonely I was...I cried while listening to this. You were never there for me.

  • @NelsonClick That was kind of depressing. Don't be so unhappy. We are all together in our loneliness.

  • @NelsonClick You took the words right out of my mouth. I was there with you, even though you didn't know me.

  • love. :)

  • im 25 and i have been listening to this song since it came out i think and i love this whole record it made me the music man i am thank you dad but question was anyone else in this band from another band????

  • @mikey752182, Several. Andy Sturmer (the lead singer) and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. were both originally in a band called Beatnik Beach before forming Jellyfish. Eric Dover, who joined Jellyfish during "Spilt Milk" era played in Slash's Snake Pit (the Slash of Guns N' Roses fame), and he and Roger went onto form Imperial Drag, another great band. Tim Smith, who played with Jellyfish, like Eric Dover, during the "Spilt Milk" period, went onto play in yet another great band, Umajets. (continued)

  • @TheHappyShow, Eric Dover has also been in a band called Sextus. Roger Joseph Manning has been in a band called Moog Cookbook, has played keyboards on Beck's albums, and also has put out some awesome solo albums of his own. Andy Sturmer has wrote and produced songs for the J-Pop duo, Puffy Ami Yumi, and he wrote the theme songs for "Ben 10" and the "Teen Titans" cartoon. Hope this info helps you out.

  • @TheHappyShow , Whoops! I forgot to mention Jason Falkner (who was a member during the "Bellybutton" era)... He has put out some awesome solo albums and was a member of a cool band that was called The Grays. Jellyfish was certainly a band that was made up of a number of very talented musicians!

  • The perfect blend of Badfinger, Hall and Oats, Richard Marx, Supertramp and a bit of Queen.

  • I remember 20 years ago driving to six flags with some friends and we had the cassette of the first album cranked! Probably the only goofballs in our area who even knew who they were. Incredible band, incredible musicians!

  • Great band that came around at the wrong time

  • The Most underrated band ever!

  • Retro Glam-Rock at it's best!

  • This is the one song that I wish never ended

  • These guys got hassled all the time for being a Beatles cover band - trying too hard to sound like the Fab Four. Sheesh...these two albums are just brlliant and who cares.

  • @1953taggie, Ringo certainly didn't mind. Andy Sturmer and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr, of Jellyfish worked with the former Beatle on one of his albums (see the video for "Weight of The World" by Ringo here on YouTube to witness the two guys backing up Ringo).

  • What a band. I`ll never understand why they were not huge.

  • this song is a masterpiece .the video distracts us from the music .if i had the ability to wright songs of this beauty and intelligence ,and was overlooked as jellyfish where i would hate the human race .

  • I would join this fan club...

  • i had this when it first come out , i lent it to someone and that was the last i saw of it lol , great album

  • I simply loved his drums set.

    Where can I buy it?

    how to do it myself?

  • One of the Greatest Pop songs & Pop bands of All time!! Andy Sturmer is a Genius!

  • @templatemusic You have a good ear for quality guitar playing. It is a very well composed guitar solo.

  • Keyboardist looks like Yoko Ono

    Good band

  • All the jellyfish videos are terrible quality

  • Who did the guitar solo on this song, was it Eric Dover? Simply awesome!!!

  • @Super1bigKahuna I'm with you man! PERFECT.

  • I think 60 times in a row now! When you watch it this many times you don't have to do the commercials.

  • I think 60 times in a row now

  • my wish is that these advertisements would go away.

  • @sweetgingerboy download addblock plus, its an addon for firefox/chrome

  • Never mind harps; in heaven they'll use small speakers to pipe Jellyfish and XTC to every person's little cloud......

  • "i love my new mistake" is what i said about my daughter

  • I wish all the record 'execs' of today would look at this stuff, and understand what REAL artists / musicians are. As a musician, it really gives me the shits when I look at the top 50 singles charts, and notice that of those 50, only 5 or 6 can play an instrument!

  • Yeah I wish Jellyfish reunite as well.

  • Impossible to listen just once.

  • @drebatista

no kidding! I've watched this three times in a row now... it's so flawless I can't stop!

  • I don't know how people aren't laughing at the demon everytime he provokes the angel. "Now what? Chump. "

  • i still can't understand why i laughed at 1:44

  • @teejtills WOW U FAGGOT THIS IS LIKE MY FAV SONG, GO LISTEN TO SOME GAY SOCCER MOM/GRATEFUL DAD SHIT, ACTUALLY DONT CUS UR NOT GRATEFUL, GRATEFUL FOR THIS SONG. • this song is literally ahead of its time. It would fit right in with today's "rock"

  • love this! it's like the beatles, Queen, Supertramp and ELO all together on one record awesome - perfect.

  • the greatest band ever....seen.these guys in philly back in 93...hope too see them one day....love there music

  • What Style Of Music Its Great I Heard Its Was Like Rock Pop, and the singers style of clothing choice [PERFECTION], to bad the split up..

  • plasmaorb- way to rub it in!!!

  • two of my life's regrets in regards to music are never seeing this band and queen live. damn! thank god for youtube!

  • @nigeldaddyo - i thankfully saw them 3 times live and even had dinner with them when they walked into the restaurant i was eating at before the show. The Imperial Drag show was amazing also, but anything with Roger Manning is.

  • @nigeldaddyo

saw Queen in the 70's 3 times but never saw Jellyfish. I just discovered them a couple of months ago!

  • Absolute perfection......

  • Saw Jellyfish in the summer of '93 in Sacramento. One of the most incredible live performances ever. Also saw them earlier in the day at a Tower Records in-store, where they played 6 songs acoustically. Too bad Andy ruined a good thing; he was destined for fame and fortune, if he would've hung in there.

  • Saw Jellyfish in the summer of '93 in Sacramento. One of the most incredible live performances ever. Also saw them earlier in the day at a Tower Records in-store, where they played 6 songs acoustically.

  • The New Mistake "rare" performance is one of their last performances then, as well as the the 93' Warfield performance. Luckily I went to that one! I also saw them open for the Black Crowes in Feb. 91' at UC Davis going to see the Black Crowes.. Frickin awesome!

  • Jellyfish was so stinking good, and they got pushed aside because they showed up right in between glam metal and grunge. Radio changed and wiped out bands like Jellyfish and Living Colour. Truly sad. I actually had tickets to see them in '93 and the concert cancelled because they broke up :(

  • Their best song. They won't reform - Andy keeps no contact with any of the others, who harbour no wish to work with him. Sad but true.

  • one of the best bands of all time...I wish they were more successful, then maybe they would still be together today...

  • If I had one wish, it would be that the Jellyfish would reunite

  • @dhoen We all have this wish...

  • @dhoen that would be my wish too...tho it will never happen :( unfortunately.

  • This is amazing! How is it possible that they are this underrated? I blame the Jonas Brothers...

  • It blows me away when I see an overrated and undertalented whore like Mariah Carey scoring as many #1's as the Beatles while bands like this, with actual talent go unnoticed! Well, what can one really expect from our Clear Channel, American culture where shit floats and diamonds sink.

  • How did these guys not become bigger? As a musician, this is the kind of music which inspires me to write and play more.

  • :25 Polly Wogs are baby Frogs

  • A perfect example of how natural and raw talent often goes completely unrecognized in a world of radio friendly big money summer festival shit rock. Loved these guys when I first saw the "King is half undressed" video back in '91. Never got to see them live though, and I truly regret not doing so when I had the chance. Long live the kings of Power Pop.

R.I.P. Jellyfish. You are sorely missed.

  • I had no idea they were even on MTV ever. I just caught them by accident as my friends' band opened for them at the Roxy in Hollywood circa 1990. You missed the whole point of Jellyfish by never seeing them live. It was their live shows that highlighted their talent. They were at their fever pitched best when Jason was in the band. And the set, their clothes, dude, it was a trip....

  • Too bad the second album didn't get as much PR as the first one. This was such a great album that too many people missed out on!

  • One of my favorite Jellyfish songs...
