I remember this video like it was yesterday.....always a fav! The music, lyrics, and filming of this video just grabbed your eyes and ears from the start and never let go. Almost anything from Sisters Of Mercy but especially "Flood II", also "A Strange Day" by The Cure, "Dead Souls" the Nine Inch Nails Version, "My Dreams" by The Gun Club, and almost anything from Joy Division but especially "Disorder", Shadowplay, and Twenty Four Hours. Those are all great night time atmosphere songs and also let me recommend "Gimme Danger" by Iggy & the Stooges.

This clip was made by student filmmakers in England commissioned by Sire Records. It was not like by the band. The blonde girl in it was a friend of the filmmakers and at one point an acting student. At the time (84/85), she was working at a modelling agency in New York. Through the agency she got the opportunity to appear in the video. She didn't know much about The Smiths at the time and probably wasn't a fan of the band. It has been said that she is now settled in the US with one child.
