  • I can't even tell how much I WORSHIP this woman.

  • What were they thinking!!!!

Patti LuPone has never been drowned out by an accompaniment.....

  • I don't get why some people don't LOVE that acceptance speech ..it was hilarious and she Damn well deserved it !! You GO Girl ...xoxo

  • "I don't know what's in it, but I'm giving the performance of my LIFE!!" BAHAA

  • This is no self-centered diva, but rather the last of a dying breed- a true broadway star, who's love of the theatre is more than evident in this humbling acceptance speech. Pray the next generation will have a light as bright as Patti to lead the way...

  • OMG - I just LOVE her!!!

    She's absolutely one off!!!

  • "Shut UP! IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!!!!!" hahahaha, oh they should give her some more comic roles :)))

  • Seriously? this is her second Tony? I mean, come on, people, she deserves more! Love her performance in Gypsy and Sweeney Todd.

  • @melonseller she's been nominated for 7 I believe, but only won two. I agree, she deserves every single one of them, but I'm sure the people she lost to did a wonderful job :)

  • I was the first to dislike this. Yes!

  • @hbdywtk why are you so happy about being an idiot?

  • I want her dress.....it's pretty diva......

  • What an incredible season. Kelli O'Hara was absolutely STUNNING in South Pacific. But Patti is just a force of nature. Extremely well-deserved for a legendary performance..

  • " Shut up it's been 29 years!!!!!!!!! LOL. I read her book. It was wonderful

  • "SHUT UP!!! IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!!!!" she is brilliant.

  • If Kelli had taken it, I wouldn't mind either. Such a good set of female performers.

  • great speech

  • Jenna is pissed

  • Ahh that was awesome!! I remember watching the Tony's that year, but for some reason don't remember her speech. I remember her winning, but I was like oh yeah Patti LuPone she is magnificent she probably wins all the time! I didn't know it had been 29 years! Wow! What is wrong with these Tony voters!?!

  • My favorite Broadway actress of all time. Oh, my God, it's a dream to work with this woman. I love this speech.

  • i'll be perfectly honest i only know this woman from hearing about her on Glee and Will & Grace...seriously if shes half as good an actress as she is with giving speeches she must be something special.

  • I don't care that she's a complete diva that's hated by every producer and director that's ever worked with her, I LOVE HER!!

  • "SHUT UP, IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!" hahahha. I'm not a huge Patti fan but this was a great speech.

  • That's the way to make a speech... Patti LuPone style.

  • best tony speech EVER!

  • I love this woman!

  • GOOD NIIIGHT!!

    She's great. :D

I sorta wish she could of thanked Eva Perón, though...

  • @Messylin She is glamorous! Her dress was tasteful and lovely. You forget that she is in her 50s or 60s. Her son was there, she wasn't going to show up in a sparkle strapless dress. She has so much class and talent.

  • SHUT UP IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!!

    I love this woman.

  • Whatever the acceptance speech, anyone who saw her as Rose in this show knows she earned every bit of that Tony Award.

  • Lol "Ghosts of the St. James Theater!"

  • She really knows how to put on a show, even with an acceptance speech! Love her

  • I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "let's go on with the show....."

oh my goshhh<3 that was clever, haha.

  • She will win a Tony when she brings back Dolly to Broadway... Come on!!!!!

  • "SHUT UP IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!!" - Patti LuPone

  • Silly music, you can't stop Patti!

  • @agonistes06 because she's soooo terrible...... What an idiotic question.

  • @agonistes06 what the hell is wrong with you?

  • lol i love how patti had so many people to thank and favorite quotes "who gives me a shot every single night i don't know whats in it but im giving the performance of my life!" and i love how they have tried to make her shut up with the music its Patti she isn't shutting up until she is done lol.

  • "This won't take long, I promise"

    ......so much for that :-D

  • so happy she wore a dress this time.

  • THE BEST!!! I love Patti so much! If I were to win a Tony I'd try to remember the ghosts of the theater too!!! She's so funny!

  • I love how she thanked the ghosts of the St James Theatre :)

  • "Shut up it's been 29 years!!!" Love Patti!

  • shut up patti lupone! Shut ur brassy magnificent trap!

  • @cdftaurus Love that Will& Grace episode!

  • @cdftaurus LMFAO! I haven't heard that line in ages!

  • AMEN PATTI!!! woo!

  • 1: i LOVVVE patty... I kinda see Lea Michele aka rachel from glee being like her in the future.... 2: @ 1:44 it looks like carla bruni aka french presidents wife (n fabilous singer)

  • Seriously it's Patti lupone don't play music over her! She's a broadway goddess!

  • Oh bless her! She is amazing! One of a kind. What inspires me the most about her is her passion, in everything she does! She's quickly become my number #1 inspiration, overtaking Kate Mulgrew (who is a woman I am in awe of for her totality), but just wow. And a sense of humour, so real! Patti really inspires me from seeing her work, and makes me believe I can follow my dreams and act one day! Because I find her totally uplifting and just wow :)

  • @Kahiara OMG! Kate Mulgrew was my #1 inspiration until I found La LuPone too! <3

  • @roseforaprince That's so cool! And we're pretty much the same age! We must have impeccable taste :D

But oh my gosh, I have been well and truly Lupwned! Seriously!

I love Kate Mulgrew... but I mean wow XD This woman is SO cool and just so talented! Squee!

  • To the ghosts of the St. James Theatre!

    lmao! :D

  • She's truly an inspiration to me!!!

  • foolish music! you can't stifle Patti!!!

  • I saw Gypsy twice and both times Patti was AMAZING. It is the only show I have been at where a performer got a standing ovation before curtain call (both times she got one after Rose's turn and the first time I saw it after Everythings coming up roses). I have seen her in several other productions, terrific in all.

I saw three of the five shows for this category and Patti was the best by far. I just love her comments and quick wit. best acceptance speech ever. "Shut up it's been 28 years

  • aww patti i love you

  • hahaha this just made my day

  • the list shows she's a very grateful person. She is so great. I wanna be like her someday!

  • i would want nothing more in this life than to have her career.

  • Shut up! It's been TWENTY EIGHT YEARS!!!!!

  • and then every 30 years ago PICK UP ONE OF THESE!

  • She is win.

  • lol david hyde pierce presented lead actress 2009 also... haha coincidence

  • MORE ITALIANS ON BROADWAYYY

  • They don't make 'em like her anymore.

Say what you want about her, you can't deny that the woman has more talent in her pinky than most people will ever have in their lifetimes.

  • lol shes def unique

saw her in gypsy, gotta luv her

  • pure awesomeness.

  • Oh Patti...

  • I love this woman. =)

  • @me148 No, you're the ass. -smiles sweetely.-

  • shut up it's been 29 years!!!lol...my fav part!

  • hi omg i am going to see her in concert next year

  • absolutely love her

  • "SHUT UP ITS BEEN 29 YEARS!!!"

    hilarious!!!

  • Living Diva!!!!!!!!!

  • Patti is the best ever. She is the god of female singing and acting on the stage

  • Fellatio24 I'll explain what she means since you seem to have problems understanding english. "I would be dead without both of you" is not a literal statement rather highlighting the importance of them in her life. As for her voice... if it was as bad as a "broken old dishwasher" then I wonder why she has been regarded as one of the finest broadway actresses ever.... Must just be you :)

  • @brisbanetim well, she might be being literal, you never know, like one of those cheesy romantic stories where someone sweeps into a heroine addicts life, they fall in love, have a kid and everything changes for ever/

probably not, but you never know

  • I don't usually respond to any youtube comments, since they tend to be generally ridiculous, but really? she was talking about her husband and son. thousands of other wives and mothers would say the exact same thing.

  • I absolutely Love Patti Lupone. Her performance is Evita gave me chills.....

  • hahaha

  • She is sooooooooo funny!!

  • The other girls nominated, besides Kelli O'Hara, had to know that they had very little chance of beating Patti. She was SPOT ON in her portrayal of Mama Rose. The fact that she only has 2 Tony awards is just a disgrace. She is without a doubt one of , if not THE best, actress and singer still on Broadway today. Brava Patti! Brava!

  • FANTASTIC! she is the best :)

  • haha, she is hysterical!

  • can somebody post boyd's win?

  • omg,

    she's so funny.

how does someone get that amazing?

    lol

  • she is so brilliant : )

  • She makes my day. Seriously, I love her. Almost as much as Julie Andrews and Angela Landsbury. Almost.

  • Viva La LuPone!!

  • Patti's great

  • LOL

  • Shut up it's been 29 years lol

  • She won a Tony...

  • And she deserves and Oscar

    Just for shits and giggles.

  • branwen319 shut up it's been 29 years!

  • I love her!

  • "shut it's been 29 years!"

  • DIVA DIVA!

  • In a good way!

  • Totally!

    I love this woman (:

  • GHOSTS OF THE st.JAMES THEATER! haha gotta love her! and Shut up it's been 29 years! she just made history with that statement!

  • hahaha so much for "this won't take long, I promise."

This makes me laugh every time. Patti's amazing!

  • People I was just joking!

  • SHUT UP!! IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS!! XD

  • D-I-V-A!!!!

  • She belts even when she talks!

  • "...let's go on with the show..."

    Bitchy of the conductor, no?

  • Saw her in the show today. She was PHENOMINAL!

    I cried.

  • B.A.M.F.!

  • hahah shut up! its been 28 years!

    that was classic

  • Her speech is very similar to when Cuba Gooding Jr got his Oscar!

  • Except he didn't tell the music to shut up because it's been 29 years since his last win.

  • She's great, she's funny and she knows she can say all that and still be THE GREATEST DIVA OF THEM ALL!!

  • Lmao so funny. Haha she totaly deserved it though ^^ best speach ever!

  • definition of a triple threat

  • Horahhhh !!!!!!!!

I`m going to see this show in November. I hope she is still in it as im only in New York for thre days and live in the U.K.

  • I'm seeing her in November too. What day are you going?

I'm PRETTY SURE that all 3 of them are staying until next March.

  • REALLY go and see it - ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

it was the highlight of my trip

  • I would totally go lesbo for Patti (and Laura) which says A LOT b/c I'm REALLY STRAIGHT! HAHA LOL!

  • She is sooooooooooooooooooo funny!! Love her!!

  • In olden days this show was shockin'

'cause Merman would keep them rockin'

    but now they phone...

    Patti LuPone!

  • Haha...

    Patti LuPone - 1

    Orchestra - 0

  • Awesome.

  • oh wait, never mind I get it now! LOL!

  • i don't get it. lol! :0

  • That was the best tony speech Ive ever heard. She went to my high school!!! and nmy friend told her that, she laughed and walked away in the middle of an autograph

  • that's hilarious, DisneyBoi91!

  • Holy GOD. This makes me so happy each time I watch it. =D

  • Me too, man. Me too.

  • She's earthy, she's alive, she's all woman!

  • i'm so mad i missed the TONYS!!! i saw Patti in GYPSY in late June and what an amazing experience it was!!! I'm so glad she got the award!!!

  • haha i LOVE HER.

but hasn't it been 28 years, not 29?

  • yeah it's 28

  • 'Shut up, it's been 29 years.' Why isn't that on a t-shirt already???

  • I'd buy one!

  • OMG! You should create a T-Shirt clothing line then! LOL!

    She is very quotable.

  • Fantastic speech! "Shut UP! It's been 29 years!" Such a great line. It'll go down in history.

    And that dress was divine.

  • best....speech...ever

  • Wow. No wonder she played Evita so well.

  • She's amazing!

  • "It's been 29 years!!" Ohmigod!! When she won I nearly jumped through my bedroom ceiling and practically screamed myself hoarse. Patti you DESERVED that Tony. Congrats!

  • Ah, Patti. I love her. What a fantastic woman!

  • LAURA SHOULD HAVE WON THIS!

  • ...she wasn't nominated. She won for best featured actress.

  • she wansn't nominated for leading actress. besides she did win in her category... wtf...

  • SHUT UP ITS BEEN 29 YEARS!

    hahahaha

    gotta love patti

    =]]]

  • i LOVED her speech. greatest speech of the NIGHT

  • shut up it's been 29 years!!!

    o dear,i love her

  • WOW!

  • The time of her speech was 02:32.1

  • The divine Patti can say what she wishes as long as she wishes; I saw this Gypsy; she has that audience in the palm of her hand from the moment she appears; she's giving a performance that will rank in legend along side of Barbra Streisand's in Funny Girl (which I saw); that's my highest praise; there are advantage to having been around awhile!

  • i'm going in a week, so psyched..my first b-way show!!!!

  • Well, I'm thrilled for you, Markish; they say nothing beats the high of a first time; and you'll remember this the rest of your life. By the way, my first B'way show was the aforementioned Funny Girl; I was a teenager, but I remember moments as though they were yesterday--Patti (and company) will not disappoint you. . . !

  • You are bitter. It's okay, you're just slow. You'll figure it out someday...

    Jackass.

  • I'm a jackass, I'm bitter and I'm slow...

but unlike Ms. Lupone, I'm nothing if not classy.

  • dude, when you're as old as she is, you won't give a shit with whatever the hell you do. you do whatever the f*ck you want.

  • Nothing at all snotty about her comments. I don't see where you get that. It's called personality. You should get one!

  • she's freaking patti lupone. The woman can play any role and she's freaking 57 years old and still a power house. She can be a snot if she wants to be. She has more than earned hte right. lol
