Read "The Dead Shall Rise" by Oney. It is MORE than proven the murder was not committed by Frank or Newt Lee (the Janitor) but by Tom Conley, also African American. Conley's testimony sent Frank to jail and his ultimate death. It was the 1st time a black man's word was taken over a white man's word in the South. The janitor (Connel?) who they used as a witness for the prosecution did it. He asmitted writing a note found by the body that tried to pin it on another janitor. He claimed Frank dictated it to him: "He said he would love me, make like Night Witch did it, but that long tall black Negro did it himself." Also, a 12-yr-old kid who worked at the factory saw Connel carrying Mary's body. His parents told him not to get involved, but he told the story on his deathbed.

The janitor's name was Jim Conley. In an official sense, it's not certain who did it but in my opinion, yes, he did. He didn't blame Newt Lee, who was not a janitor but the night watch. Jim admitted to writing the note and killing Mary. He testified, though, that it was Leo's plan.

The kid's name was Alonzo Mann. He didn't tell the story on his deathbed. He underwent a series of lie detector tests and rigorous interrogation. It was 1986.

Alonzo did tell the story before then - many times, even before 1982, when he started fighting for his former employer's pardon. He got in a fight with a fellow soldier in World War I after telling his story.

Leo Frank was guilty. There is no real evidence to the contrary. The Governor had commuted Frank's sentence because of massive orchestrated pressure by the Jewish community in the U.S. It was the backlash in public opinion that sparked the formation of the Jewish Anti-Defamation League.
