As a gay teen that has been diagnosed with mild depression, the only problem I can foresee from allowing media like this trailer to exist is that it's just another form of media to burden gay teens with feelings of suicide. I'm not sure of any research that's been done on the matter (hell, media is almost impossible to isolate as a factor in a laboratory setting anyway), so I guess I wouldn't personally have a problem allowing something like this to exist.

Overanalyzing a joke just because his line was taken out of context. As a gay teen that has been diagnosed with mild depression, the only problem I can foresee from allowing media like this trailer to exist is that it's just another form of media to burden gay teens with feelings of suicide. I'm not sure of any research that's been done on the matter (hell, media is almost impossible to isolate as a factor in a laboratory setting anyway), so I guess I wouldn't personally have a problem allowing something like this to exist.

Unfortunately not all people can say "That's so gay" and mean it innocently. You see to many, the gay community is sick and perverse and will be burning in hell...So, if such a person says "That's so GAY!" I think that they may not be able to differ between a homosexual and something BAD because to them it means the same thing. Oh and FYI I do love me lucky charms! HAHA!

I also must confess, I'm quite struck by your claim that this (and I assume subsequent) generation cannot change the meaning of a word. It happens every decade. I don't believe there's anything one can do to prevent it. It happened with "cool" and "hot" and a plethora of other words. It's inevitable.

@Falangist Gay also means a person perfers their gender. Therefor, saying gay means lame could be taken in a hurtful way. I look at being gay as a charactaristic... we all have characteristics that people don't agree with, such as smoking, tattoos, ignorance, etc, etc. I don't agree with the choice or charactaristic of them being gay. But I also realize there is a real person behind the word "gay". I love vince, he is one of my favorite actors. I will still see this movie in theatres.
