Read Midnight sun, there's a lot of meaning behind his love for her, which was pretty much impossible to project on screen, since Twilight is from Bella's perspective. She doesn't understand why he loves her either... But there is a lot of meaning behind it.

i think the attraction for me is the undying love that Edward has for Bella cos it isnt easy for him to repress what he is and keep her alive, he protects her with his own life!!! i think they make a sweet couple!
