It is very hard but your are trained for this. You are built up to handle it. It kind of prepares you for war cause thats part of what you will deal with.
kind of, you get yelled at the most during forming which is like day 3 after you`ve done your medical stuff. Towards the end they do not yell at you as often, they use physical punishment and grueling exercises to correct "bad behavior". You still do get yelled at tho.
I was in the Marines from 00-04...Bootcamp today is even more easier than when i was there 8 years ago....The cruicible today is not as hard as it was back in 2000....Try doing this shit when it is 30 degrees and raining nonstop....
And you are some how harder because the weather worked against you? Not if you just stopped at saying that the Crucible was harder in 2000, that is fine, but the weather in uncontrollable.
Please tell us how boot camp and the crucible in particular was harder when you went through it just eight years ago. Thanks and where was it 30 degrees at?
THE CRUCIBLE!?!?!?! please, that thing was easy, i ran on one MRE, i still had two new ones before the reaper, so i had to give out some of it, but it was pretty challenging, oh and taking fred is kind of boring.
The Crucible was initiated by Commandant Al Gray in the 80's. It's not "old Corps", but I think it's one of the most prudent changes ever made. I have no doubt that it makes better Marines, or that it's saved lives by providing a taste of what's down the road.
it depends on your role in the fireteam. usually the team leader has one so he can send signal flares and whatnot for nighttime operations. i've also seen a-gunners with 203s
My son just graduated from PI 7/25- he loved his experience there and is looking forward to his future with the USMC. Good luck to all of you heading to boot camp.
We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army.On the seven day while God rested we overan his perimeter, "borrowed" the globe and the we've been running the show ever since.
Of course- because the Marines tie in skills used in all of them.
Can't wait for my shot at the Crucible >>; *sarcasm* Really though. I'm looking forward to it, but not all at the same time. Hopefully I can make it that far ^^
My brother's a Marine- I'm following his footsteps :]
My dad is a Marine captain and my uncle is a Marine major. Both are tough as nails and bad-ass to the core. I hope I can follow in their footsteps this July. USMC...OOORAH!!
I cant wait till i go to bootcamp, my grandfather is a marine, my brother is a marine, my friend randy is a marine, i will be also by next nov. its gonna be awsome
Thanks for posting this. What are the two cymbols new recruits are awarded following the Crucible? I've never known what the "globe", etc. is all about.
Its the Eagle globe and anchor. The fouled anchor stands for the connection between the US Marines and The Navy and just the Naval service, the Globe for worldwide service, and the eagle represents United states and the Marine Corps itself
I have a very close friend who will be enduring his "Crucible" experience next week. These men and women are amazing and we should all be proud of their dedication and willingness to sacrifice all for the rest of us!
Marine Corps training is extremely demanding because Marines typically face the toughest assignments in combat. These dedicated men (and women) have earned my respect and I hope their rigorous training keeps them safe when the shit hits the fan. I thank them for their service and sacrifice.

does anyone know the actual weight in the ruck sacks during the crucible?

I can handle small amounts of food and maybe 20 miles each day, but small amounts of sleep? Ouch.
Are the bullets always rubber? I hear their mixed between blanks, rubber, and real.

I went through training in 1969 and I never worried about physical challenges after that. They teach you that you can do more than you ever imagined.
