Im a fan of Tarja and love her Nightwish songs and most solo and she has a beautiful voice but she needs to leave these type of songs to singers like Hayley Westenra. Mind Hayley I doubt could sing Tarjas Nightwish songs either so horses for courses.

Just for general knowledge, this is NOT opera.

I like her voice when she doesn't go extremely low since there her vibrato breaks and sounds unpleasant, but she certainly know it; i asssume she does it 'coz she doesn't care.

Great she has been working in her solo career yet i still prefer to listen her with nightwish, just as much as i prefer nightwish with her than Anette.

To be considered an Opera Singer, one must have actually sung in operas (which by the way is rigorous work) and not sing a couple of arias. I like Tarja too but to make her seem like a goddess is laughable. She still has problems with her diaphragm, her accent, and her vibrato

Tarja wanted to perform classical music and Nightwish did not like that idea. It was pure jealousy by the band and it is ashame since if they continued to mature with Tarja at the helm they would have surpassed every single band ever. Tarja has the most beautiful and refined voice in music today.

Incidentally, there have been some really good opera singers who have done pop CDs. Most of them are pretty dreadful because most opera singers don't know how to sing pop music without making it sound like opera.

Their voices, while very good, aren't of a type that would be suitable for a serious opera career. They also usually don't have the right technique to sing opera. A professional opera singer is one who has the voice and technique needed to have a career singing in operas in opera houses. .

And yes, rock singing changed her voice. Almost damage it.

That is the one reason too why Tarja wanted to quit (Nightwish) and start solo career.

She often told the guys that so many gigs and long tours (tobacco smoke, no sleep)

singing ill(End of an Era) damage her voice, especially because she use classical technique.

But they didn't listen her.

Tarja doesn't breathe properly, she can be heard gulping for air, and the voice has rough quality, without much clarity. Pat Benatar is a trained opera singer also, but she probably couldn't sing opera now because of the years of rock singing...and I have no idea how good her operatic voice was to begin with.

it's bad that Feanor2345 can't accept that tarja was fired because of her relationship with the band :) And his fantasies are pretty funny.

Nightwish's songs were written for a classical vocalist. And tarja had always sang in classical way. (She had never sang like Pat Benatar) So, Nightwish can't be had any negative effect on her voice. :)

Also, This was before End of an Era was released :)

And they have to admit it. She can't be a good classical singer with this vibrato.
