At my Wado-Ryu club this is Pinan Nidan and in my Shotokan clubs this is Heian Shodan with some small differences between this kata and the Shotokan one.
It's so interesting to see the little differences in styles. I'm training shotokan and this is almost exactly like the first kata you learn in my style - called heian shodan. However, the movements and mechanics are a little bit different. For example, we start with a gedan barai. Also the last moves are completely different.
BEST ANSWER on this subject: I do not like to get in the habit of saying one style is better than others. In regards to karate as a sport-I believe tournament compeition, that while it has some benefits, it does create a mindset and habits that will not work for actual combat. I also agree that when you can not attck the joints, eyes, throat, fingers, groin, etc that a true martial artist would not be able to effectively use their style.
Youtube appears full of people with no videos that apparently are masters of everything. Useful video, I'm finding the turn into shuto zuki quite hard, looking at the cat stance foot positioning here helps a lot, thanks for the video.

hmm, no pauses between combinations and no kiah.... should be a kiah after the tripple JODAN UKE and tripple JUNZUKI..
